Several Bars Destroyed in Fire

In light of the recent arson investigation into the burning of the Golden Sun Dojo, another fire has been lit in New Meridian. This fire swept through the bar quarter on Silk Road. Six buildings burned down completely, several more were damaged by water and smoke.

Three fatalities were reported in the wake of the fire; four people are in critical condition at the New Meridian Clinic, while at least a dozen more were injured. It isn't clear yet when the fire started, but it was after business hours. Many people were trapped in the apartments situated above the bars and had to wait for rescue from the VEFS.

It was only last year that many of these bars had to close temporarily after a rash of still unexplained illness swept the district. The local bar business had been slowly recovering with reports of the peculiar illness becoming more isolated.

Officials have not been available to make comment on this tragic fire and whether it may be related to the April 3rd fire that consumed the dojo.
