Plots! [25 Apr 2011|07:06pm]
Avengers
"Snakes in the Grass"

1) The Avengers (or some of them), respond to an alarm from Project Pegasus and battle members of the Serpent Society (now under the leadership of a new Sidewinder) who are trying to steal a dimensional energy well.  (This is part of a rash of recent tech thefts).

2) Though most of the members in the theft group are beaten and captured, Sidewinder uses her teleportation tech to steal the device anyway.

3) Through SHIELD, the Avengers learn that the Serpent Society is recruiting.  Criminal histories and identities are fabricated for Steve, Charlie, and Ryan (the easiest to disguise since they have no powers to try and explain and cover up) to go undercover.

4) The three (along with maybe a couple others) pass the audition and are inducted into the Society and assigned the mission of breaking the ones captured out of SHIELD custody.  Wanting to learn the bigger goal, they assist with this, trying to minimize the damage done.  (Possibly fight with the SHIELD team).  The mission goes off successfully.

5) Having proven themselves, they're let in on the big plan. The Society is working for AIM, gathering materials used in building a new Cosmic Cube.  The next job is a Adamantium-Vibraium alloy being developed by Stark Industires.

6) The theft goes off without a hitch and the Society travels to the AIM base... at which point Steve and the others call in the rest of the team.

7) Avengers vs. AIM and Society.  Bad guys beaten, though Sidewinder escapes...

WCA
"Bump in the Night"

1) When a city-wide blackout hits, the WCA take to the streets to try and maintain order, dealing with panic and looters.

2) During their efforts, the WCA discover that some of the citizens of the city have been transformed into monstrous, predatory creatures and battle them.  Worse, they discover that a force field has effectively sealed the city in.

3) The WCA continue to work with the police, firefighters, and paramedics to try and keep the city safe, but the number of infected is spreading, with few remaining unaffected.  MC does testing on someone unaffected and discovers that whatever's affecting people has no affection on people genetically different from humans.

4) Stevie and James (and Aine?) succumb to the infection, joining the other creatures in the now nearly completely transformed city.  The creatures now appear to be heading in one direction, like a mob.  The WCA follows (MC works on a cure?).  (if that's outside MC's specialties, she'll get to do operation "steal the antidote" instead) (infected members variable, but I'd like at least one more than Stevie)

5) The WCA follow and discover the creatures being loaded into Hydra transports, battle with creatures and Hydra forces.

6) Slowly being overwhelmed, the WCA are pushed back, when MC arrives with the cure, spreading enough to give them some space and return Stevie and James to normal.

7) The with breathing space, the WCA defeat Hydra and are able to save the city.

Defenders
"What Dreams May Come"

1) While murders in LA are nothing new, a number of what appear to be ritual sacrifices are enough to make the news.  Dawn recognizes some of the signs as the same cult that tried to sacrifice her last year.

2) Even with Marlow's help, no trace of them can be scryed.  Working with the LAPD reveals the murder sites, but no patterns.  Until Andy looks at it and realizes that the sites almost form a pattern of a symbol associated with Morpheus.  Dawn, meanwhile, takes the sensible precaution of trying to consult with other mystics, but finds Strange out of this dimension and the others likewise engaged.

3) Realizing that the symbol is incomplete, Andy points them to where the last one will likely be.  The Defenders arrive just in time to prevent the last killing, but one of the cultists kills himself, his last works being "the ritual is complete."  A check with magic reveals that a major magical surge has just been sent into the Dream Dimensions.

4) With little choice, the Defenders make the decision to travel to the Dream Dimension to see the end of this.  During the passage, each is confronted by their worst nightmares.
---space for nightmare scenarios here---

5) They arrive in the Dream Dimension to find Nightmare engaged in battle with Sonam, offspring of Nightmare's daughter the Dream Queen, challenging his grandfather for supremacy.  It was he who founded the cult and encouraged the ritual, as a way of gaining more power.

6) With few options, the Defenders enter the battle on Nightmare's side, preferring the devil they know.  With their help (including Dawn and Marlow casting a spell to channel the godlings willpower to Nightmare), he defeats his grandson, banishing him to other realms.  Nightmare offers the Defenders the chance to serve him, but they refuse.  He allows them to leave, but notes that their actions today will not spare them in the future.

7) Later, reporting on this to Strange, Dawn is rewarded for her part in things with a Cloak of Levitation and an Amulet of Agamotto.

Champions
"Circus of Champions"

1) When a circus comes to town, offering the Champions the chance to perform with them in a charity show, they leap at the chance.

2) The performance goes well, until it turns out the circus is actually the Circus of Crime!  The Champions fall under the Ringmaster's hypnotic power, hypnotized into believing they had always been members of the Circus...

3) Time passes and the hypnotized Champions, with no memories of their previous lives, continue to travel with and aid the Circus.  (room here for people like Misha, Cait, Andy, etc to notice they've gone missing)

4) A head injury brings one of the Champions (I'm thinking Corey or Harmony) out of their hypnotized state.  Said person now has to free the others...

5) Fight between the Champions and the Circus, which is decidedly one-sided.

6) And yet, the Champions memories their criminal (and not so criminal) actions with the Circus remain...

Just When I Think I'm Out, They Pull Me Back in [27 Jul 2010|12:47am]
There had been, of course, quite a bit of celebrating over the teams victories over the various supernatural forces they'd gone up again.  Dawn would still cat doubt upon how much she'd contributed and how much had largely been inspired by Asleif, but she'd joined in anyway.  And she was one hundred percent normal again.

Strange though.  Some small part of her did not relish going back to an ordinary life.  Even though virtually every minute spent "in action" with the Defenders had left her nearly catatonic, and those moments spent socially had large moments of distress or confusion.

Confusion like now, she reflected, as she walked down the beach.  Asleif had slipped away earlier, requesting that Dawn follow at her leisure.  Now had been as good a time as any.

"You... wanted to talk to me?" she asked.

Post-Aslief Dawn [24 Jul 2010|08:13pm]
Following the separation from Dawn (which will be seen in the end of the Sutur/Dormamu stuff), Asleif wished to make her own way in the world for the time being, reflecting upon the memories and experiences she had gained while bonded to Dawn.  But she did not wish to leave her siblings (and the others) without some measure of mystical protection (no intended slight to Marlow meant).

So she imparted Dawn with a portion of power, some of it her own (spells and such she had not used in some time or did not need any more), as well as power gathered simply from the enchanments in her own skill set.

1) Cheif among these was a physical transformation.  While not necessarily a match for an Asgardian, Dawn build is much more in-keeping with one, including the addition of several inches of height (bringing her up to six feet tall), along with a great measure of enhanced strength and durability.

2) Magic.  The primary magics left to Dawn are elemental in nature, that is, command over wind, fire, earth, and water, with a little bit of weather-bending as well.  She retains some of the simpler spells of Asleif as well, such as flight, lights and shields, small scale teleportation, and, of course, heightened sensativity to magic.  Asleif has left behind some of her spell books, and it is theoretically possible for Dawn to master these and other forms of magic.
