It was Bob Rae's autobiography, I read it when I was a student of his in 2001 or 2002. Apparently it didn't sell very well (he said) and he gave the whole class copies. That line pops into my head every once in a while. I thought it was requoted from something else, a religious text or something, and I was just googling it now and came across your blog. The next line goes: "...it is a good city, because David is there".
