Bio: Jools Le Gallo

Julien grew up in a stable home. His father was almost always away on business. His mother was exceedingly attentive and loving. Early on in Julien's childhood he preferred to play the sort of games that little girls play. When dad was away Michelline indulged Julien's love of playing dress up and house. When dad was home Julien was treated to an extreme stereotype of boyhood (rough games, "don't cry, you're a man", buzzed hair).

As Julien grew the desire to act like a girl grew into the desire to become a girl. Even as a child Julien understood the importance of keeping this part of himself secret from his father. His mother however, was very open about it. Michelline indulged Julien's desire to become a girl because she had always wanted a daughter and she thought it would be healthier than to stifle her child. It became understood that when Lazarus was away Julien could be whoever he wanted, but when dad returned he was Julien again.

When it came time to enroll in school Michelline chose a boarding school far enough away that Julien could be comfortable and safe in her chosen identity as Jools. She felt it was better for her "daughter" to live as she wanted during her teen years, even with the inherent struggles. Michelline had a private meeting with the headmistress and worked out a system in which Jools could live at school as a girl (without her father finding out that his son had suddenly become his daughter).

Being clever women, they pulled off the ruse for the length of Julien's stay at Dresden. It was difficult at first since Julien had to adjust to being a girl. Michelline also had to discourage impromptu visits to the school by Lazarus (though as time progressed he become more involved in his work and less concerned with his son's education; the school's remote location in upstate New York helped in this effort).

She grew her hair and bought a whole new wardrobe of feminine clothing (which is hidden immediately when she returns home for holidays). Dad still doesn't like the hippy hair and is always threatening a haircut, but Jools has been careful to step around him on the issue. Being a girl is a relief, though a bit of a horror when she went through puberty. Jools went on hormone therapy as soon as she could convince her mother to agree.

Jools kept herself private during her school years. She was very tight-lipped about herself and avoided what she considered frivolous social activity. She did only enough to get the dorm director off her back; joining the quodpot team gained her major points with dad (though he never went to see a game), joining the chess club allowed her to play with partners and not worry too much about conversation. Jools received mostly high marks in the classes she took. If she didn't like a subject she wouldn't bother much with it (she wasn't very good with animals or plants). If it was something she enjoyed she excelled.

She dated only briefly and she never went beyond minor kissing. She felt that if she couldn't be honest about herself then she shouldn't get emotionally involved with boys. And she was never entirely certain how her body would react to more than simple kisses.

After graduation (in 2000) Jools' traveled to Taiwan to have gender reassignment surgery. It was a tremendous relief to finally have a body that matched her mind and she was much more at ease about her life, though she had to give up any further contact with her father (who would surely disown her should he learn the truth).

After her surgery she studied to be a Geisha in Japan. Through some chance contact with the American Magical Embassy in Japan she discovered that she could do other kinds of work as a Geisha being privy to private conversations, able to get into elite events and associate with high ranking individuals. She became a spy for the magical embassy and through careful work a spy for the US government.

She travels frequently between the US and Japan and is debating dual citizenship (and the legal implications that might have for her work).

She met up with a former beau, Bobby Eisley and after some tribulations (mostly her desire to be open about her biological gender and his reaction to it) they decided to try dating.
