(Confirmed: Harry/Linda/Susan??)

- Justin's going to meet someone who he'll be able to talk to about his current muggle life vs wizarding life tribulations. The shoulder to cry on needs a shoulder of his own. Aww..

- As cheif of The Ancient Runes Club he's going to organize a fundraiser for something important (The Post-war Orphan's Fund | The Association of Wizards who protect Muggles from Wizarding Injustices | Something of the Something). Possibly get other clubs to get involved. Selling candies/cookies/gum and/or organizing some kind of wizards fair on campus and/or organizing a dance with a 2 galleon "donation fee" to get in.

- Something

borndear - Caradoc Dearborn

What does he want?
- "I want a girl that just wants to have fun - no strings."

- "I want the opportunity to beat the shite out of one of those bloody Twisted Sister types. Friend could RUN AWAY and/or get caught with him.

- Caradoc is going to become increasingly more enamored with one Mafalda Hopkirk - with no success!
Characters: Justin Finch-Fletchley & Family
Setting: Friday. December 18, 1997. Dinner. House of Finch-Fletchley
Summary: Justin has an official one on one conversation with the family since being back.

The family had all arrived and were settling into their usual seats at their large dining table. Mr. William Finch-Fletchley at the head. His wife, Elise, and daughter, Daniela, to his right and his son's Russel and Justin to his left. It was a rare occasion that the family could come together for a meal. A rare occasion indeed when a guest wasn't also present. It was a long awaited family gathering that Justin Finch-Fletchley had been hoping would never come.

It wasn't that the muggleborn wizard didn't like being with his family. He adored them, he really did. It was just he already anticipated the conversation that was bound to come up. It was a topic that was increasing in frequency now that he was in his last year of school - and frankly...he was tired of it. After failing miserably at that Cure-Breaking apprenticeship Justin Finch-Fletchley had a battered sense of assurance in where his future would lead after Hogwarts.

As the two kitchen staff members completed their service of the mushroom soup the conversation of Mrs. Finch-Fletchley's latest gossip involving her choice to assist Mrs. Hermon with her Christmas party this year was obviously ending.

"I just told Martha not to worry about it," the woman shrugged. "No one will notice if the tree is a foot shorter than it was two years ago. I mean honestly."

"Well," twelve year old Daniela chimed in. "It's still going to be obvious that our tree was much better last year."

"Our tree is always better," Russel Finch-Fletchley offered with a snort. "It's just something they'll have to get used to."

"Oh don't be like that," the mother of the table scolded. "Even if it is true it's not polite to brag at the dinner table."

A small collective chuckle left each one present.

Justin had tentatively tasted the soup in his bowl when his father, William, started. "So Justin, my boy, your mother tells me you didn't get that apprenticeship you'd been working for. What hapened?"

"Someone beat me to it," Justin shrugged obviously not wanting to elaborate.

"Well that's too bad," William replied. "Next time you'll have to work a little harder."

"Yes, sir," the Hufflepuff nodded.

"I take it you'll at least be looking into other careers now, then?"

"I-" Justin started but was quickly cut off.

"Well Justin shouldn't let this little bump in the road steer him from his goal," Elise Finch-Fletchley pointed out. "He's not a quitter. Are you dear?"

"No ma'am," the wizard offered his mother a thankful grin.

"What exactly was the apprenticeship for?" Daniella asked. "Was there magic involved?"

"Er...yeah," Justin nodded still getting used to the fact that his kid sister had been let in on the family secret the summer prior. "It was a cursebreaking job for a private group. Cursebreakers go in to ancient places and figure out magical booby traps and riddles and things to find treassures and document history. This group that was offering the apprenticeship was in Rome right now working on some ancient tomb."

"So their grave robbers?" Russel asked obviously a bit disgusted by the thought.

"No," the younger son defended, "they were commisioned by the Italian Minister - it's entirely legitimate."

"Well isn't that exciting?" Elise asked.

"It's typical," William offered. "That a government would encourage something like that. I take it the public doesn't know?"

Justin hesitated a moment, "I...don't know exactly."

- William pushes the "What are you doing after school?" question and keeps suggesting the military.
- Russel agree's with the military option...or at least going to muggle university.
- Elise plays referee and reminds William that Justin can do anything he pleases.
- Daniela tries to help change the subject by asking if Justin's got a girlfriend?

o~o~o~o~o~o

Characters: Justin Finch-Fletchley & muggle company
Setting: Christmas Eve. Hermon Christmas Party.
Summary: Justin has some long awaited male bonding with his muggle mates, Alexander and Frank.

- They talk about the girls at the party.
- They discuss their futures.
- They then talk about the trip to Berchtesgaden and their expectations.
This quaint 3 story wizarding home has been in the family for the last four generations. The property is located smack dab in the middle of a healthy 50 acres of lush green farm land. The property is enchanted with a muggle repelent ward so they're never bothered by solicitors of the muggle variety. Random share - there's a decent sized pond behind their house that's filled with fish as well as a rather nasty pack of grindelows that seem to enjoy drowning the Turpin family cats.

See floor plans

Ground Level The ground floor sports a spacious living environment for all those who occupy the house. The kitchen is ultimately the gathering place for the family. The sitting room and dinning areas are generally only used when entertaining guests. The study is "OFF LIMITS" and always locked unless Mr. Turpin is using the space. The walls throughout the house are decorated with portraits of ancient relatives all of whom tend to mind their business unless your interrupting their train of thought.

Bedrooms The Turpin House is privy to seven spacious bedrooms. The immediate family occupies the first level of the building save for two guest rooms. The second level is small but also holds two more spacious guest rooms. (See floorplans to understand numbering).

Fireplaces All bedrooms are equipped with operational fireplaces that are connected to the floo network. Firecalls can be made and received from any fireplace in the house. However traveling by way of floo powder can only be done in the sitting room, study, and kitchen fireplaces. The house is disconnected from the floo network every evening at 10PM and reinstated every morning at 6:30AM.

Washrooms There are only 2 washrooms in the house both of which are on the first floor. Each is equiped with luxury bathtubs with perfect water temperature and an array of high quality bath supplies.

Creatures On Property The Turpin's have 2 house elves and 3 house cats (not included Jackson) that roam the house. He wears a blue pillow case wrapped around his waist. Additionally he has an old coloured macaroni necklace around his neck which he brags was given to him by Mr. Landon as a christmas gift one year. Grandlack has been in the Turpin family for the last 43 years. He has an unnaturally deep voice and doesn't speak often - however when he does he very respectful. He's usually found working the kitchen or tending to the exterior property.

Wispy is a green eyed house elf with Doberman like ears. She wears a pink flower printed pillowcase with appropriate holes cut out so she can wear it like a dress. She's has a relatively high squeeky voice and likes to talk a great deal when given the opportunity. She was handed down to Mrs. Turpin from a deceased Aunt about 12 years ago and has been a part of the Turpin family ever since. She's commonly seen cleaning the inside of the house and tending to laundry duty.

Cats Boris is the big fat orange one that stays outside most of the day. Albert is the thin black eager to be played with one. I'm Dennis Creevey and today Gryffindor and Slytherin will battle it out in what I hope to be an intense journey of quiddich madness! If we're lucky there'll be heart sinking fumbles, a few injuries, and maybe even some good quidditch too! And here they come!"

Cheers erupt as the individual quidditch teams march onto the field.

"Gryffindor and Slytherin take their possessions. The long time rivals, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy shake reluctant hands- personally it looked like more of a slap away but... Here's the toss up! And they're off!

"Ginny Weasley takes possession of the quaffle and zips down the line. Pass to minxy, Natalie MacDonald and then to Demelza Robins. OH! No! A bludger from that gorilla, Crabbe zips pass Robins' ear and she fumbles the ball!

"Graham Pritchard steals the fumble and makes a maddening dash to the Gryffindor goal posts! Weasley looks confident and ready! Pritchard shoots! And aw...tough luck. Slytherin makes it on the board with 10 points. Gryfindor 0."

Cheers erupt from the Slytherin side of the pitch.

"Ron Weasley passes to Ginny Weasley - these two carry on the sibling legacy of brilliant Gryffindor quidditch players since the 80's. Ginny dodges a bludger from Vincent Crabbe and hands the quaffle to Natalie MacDonald. MacDonald dodges through the Slytherin defenses and shoots! OUCH, that pompous Henry Wilkes blocks the goal. Slytherin still in the lead."

"Wilkes hands off to Charles Vaisey. Pass to Graham Pritchard. Return to Vaisey. Pass to- A brilliant interception from Demelza Robins! Robins leads a chase, dodges bludger from both Slytherin Apes, I mean beaters! Here comes Vaisey hot on Demelza's tail - FLY FASTER! YES! There seems to be a twinge of pain in your right ankle - but you don't remember getting hit with any bludger there. Maybe in the middle of that quick landing you did after the game you twisted it weird.

Katherine Spinks - Man! That was an awesome game - even if your team did lose. Maybe if you hadn't rotated your shoulder wrong near the end there you could have saved Potter from that dastardly bludger in the end. No worries, a dose of some stuff from Pomfrey and you'll be good in two to three hours.

Harry Potter - Gosh, Potter, you were so close! If only that bludger from behind hadn't caused you to temporarily black out causing you to plummet to the ground. Just your luck huh? Yeah, well aside from the deep tissue bruising to your left shoulder when you landed you managed to break your arm in three places. Did I mention the few scrapes on your face, too? Lucky you Pomfrey works miracles and you only had to stay in the infirmary for a night.

Ron Weasley -

Charles Vaisey - Hey! Yeah, well the bludger left a really big bruise to your left torso and it hurts when you move your body a certain way. Speculation from team members suggests you've a broken rib. Pompfrey says it's just a bruise and she can have it cleared up in seven hours ... if you take the potion she gave you every hour on the hour. If not, then the treatment won't work and you'll show signs of discomfort for even longer.

Dean Urquhart - Man that bludger from Spinks in the 11th pass really got your elbow harder than you thought! You notice while in the lockers that it's doing this weird clicking thing that's not only painful but really kind of annoying.

Vincent Crabbe - Ha! Ha! Look at all these dolts in pain from the game. You, however, were not as clumsy as to get hurt on the field. Oh no, on the way off you stubbed your toe something fierce in the locker room and - well it hurt a lot.

Draco Malfoy - No injuries. Suffering from "little man syndrome" it's no surprise that he's developed a personality that could fill someone three times his own size. Being an extroverted individual he's all about being recognized and liked for the most part. Course, the fact that he has a worn filter he more often than not says things before speaking which has gotten him into some trouble in the past. Point is, however, if he has something to say he'll say it unless there's someone to censor him instead.

He likes to think himself well educated in all things in which he's interested. A sports fan through and through, he's the type of kid that would purposely memorize team stats off the back of collectors cards for the fun of knowing them. Ultimately, Dennis loves being able to have those in depth conversations with people many years his senior and be recognized for his intelligence on the facts.

Dennis enjoys other people's company and usually strives to be around those to whom appreciate his presence. He lives for laughter and isn't above cracking on his friends - but that's not to say he's a young man who can't take what he delivers. He's all about being strong enough to be able to take what he dishes - and he's a good sport where that stands so long as no one crosses the line intentionally. When the lines crossed, of course, Dennis isn't above drawing his wand, or swinging his fists first.

PHYSICALLITY
Dennis has always been a bit on the small side. At the age of 14 he stands 5'1" and weighs in at a meek 103lbs. He's been known to be the subject of a great number of jokes and teasing due to his small stature and it bother's him more than he's willing to openly admit.

Dress style, Dennis has the unfortunate problem of coming from a low income family so it's no surprise that a lot of his clothes are hand me downs and don't fit properly. He's incredibly fond of a denim jacket that his aunt purchased just for him...brand new and a pair of trainers that are worn and overdue for a replacement. But other than that the young man has no distinct dress style. He wears what he has and what smells relatively clean for the most part.

In school he was a house prefect and a talented quidditch beater. The life of most parties and the guy you sought to cheer you up with his jokes and ability to get any and all contraband items to the masses. As an adult his likable personality has continued to shine through.

A social chameleon of sorts he's always had the ability to blend well with the people around him. He knows when to watch and listen as well as when to entertain and distract. With his uncanny ability to read people like an open book whether they want to be read or not, Rosco has made more friends along the way than enemies. He's a man of relatively keen interests and he's always been able to manipulate those around him to get what he wants. Most often than not his manipulations are a matter of democratic persuasion as opposed to force.

PHYSICALITY
Rosco's always been a physical being. He's a man of 6'1" and a strongly muscular build. He prides himself on having a strong body. Not only does he find it aesthetically pleasing, but being physically strong helps immensely with his job. He's a strong believer that in order to survive the life of a curse-breaker one has to be strong magically, mentally, and physically.

Aside from physically pleasing body build, it seems that Rosco fails in the department of clothing style. His wardrobe consists of two pairs of worn jeans, three cotton white tee-shirts, one gray sweater, one pinstriped button up, a blue vest, a brown suede jacket, a pair of cowboy boots, and a favourite brown cowboy hat.

OCCUPATION
After Hogwarts Rosco immediately began working for Gringott's as a curse-breaker in attempt to get away from the first war against Voldemort. He was trained under the Gringott's staff and rose quickly in the ranks. He'd always had a knack for Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. It helped, of course, that the young man had a willing free spirit and a near fearless approach to the job.

Unfortunately, by the time he was 26, Rosco was sick of all the technical hierarchy that came with working for goblins. As a result he dipped into the inheritance left behind after his father's death and began a privately owned curse-breaking company called Ravensdale Co. The company is a successful little gold mine of the best curse-breakers in the business. They're contracted with various international banks, museums, and wealthy entrepreneurs looking for high end ancient treasures that have yet to be discovered.

Currently the 9 man company is working in Rome under commission for the Italian Ministry. They've been asked to break the ancient tomb of roman emperor, Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus. It's been magically sealed for centuries and the Italian Minister has great interest in finally getting inside after years of trying. Rosco's company is the 5th group of curse-breakers to be working on the job, and they're already making progress after three months of working on the case.

Rosco commonly refers to the job in a joking fashion as legitimate grave robbing.

THE APPRENTICESHIP
Rosco's ex-wife's mother, Bathsheba Babbling, is the Ancient Runes professor at Hogwarts. He was asked nine years ago, if he'd be interested in taking on apprentices to his company. Though reluctant at first, Rosco has grown fond of having youngsters to teach and mold.

The apprenticeship is offered to all N.E.W.T level students that Bathsheda believes would do well in the field as well as not get on Rosco's nerves. Every year on October 30th, apprentice candidates are introduced to the boss. They are then introduced to the challenge of an ancient box with various curses, hexes, wards, and other such magical enchantments that they're encouraged to break.

He leaves the box at Hogwarts under Bathsheba's protection until December 5th or until one of the genius kids breaks the damn thing opened - which ever comes first. The person to achieve the goal is granted the apprenticeship.

The job itself starts from December 10th and lasts until January 5th. With the mutual understanding of Hogwarts staff students working with Ravensdale Co. are allowed to miss those few days of school. All apprentices are accommodated, fed and trained incredibly well through observation and the occasional hands on activity. Though the job has a tendency to rely on taking on location notes they're usually treated like part of the team.

Those apprentices who mesh well with the group have been known to be offered jobs with the company after they complete their N.E.W.T's in the summer.

A Message from John Cleese - British comedian:

To the citizens of the United States of America:

In light of your failure in recent years to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately.

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas, which she does not fancy).

Your new Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded.

A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary.

1. Then look up aluminium, and check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it.

2. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour', 'favour' and
'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise'.

Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').

3. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as US English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell- checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of -ize.

4. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

5. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent.

Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

6. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. A permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

7. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

8. The Former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline)-roughly $6/US gallon. Get used to it.

9. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

10. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting Nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of British Commonwealth - see what it did for them American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's
Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.

11. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialogue in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

12 You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies). Don't try Rugby - the South Africans and Kiwis will thrash you, like they regularly thrash us.

13. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

14. You must tell us who killed JFK It's been driving us mad.

15. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).

16. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 pm with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.

God save the Queen.
