khalien jo van calden
☮ khalien jo van calden (pronounced kay-lynn) was born in salt lake city on july 1, 1990 to parents cassidy and cash van calden. khalien's family had no inheritances, and the money that her father came from was definitely not to be touched. khalien's story was different from most - she came from rodeo money. it's the typical rodeo love story, cowboy meets cowgirl. bull rider meets barrel racer. not soon after they started traveling to events together did cassidy annouce she was pregnant. taking time off from barrel racing was tough, especially since she was ranked no. 2 in the world, but nine months later out came khalien and cassidy returned to barrels. it was hard raising a daughter and khalien was basically raised in a pickup or horse trailer on the road. it wasn't long before khalien was on her own horse, following her mother in her footsteps.
☮ many people think the sport of rodeo is dangerous and/or cruel to animals, but khalien will disagree. after years of experience, khalien honestly believes the rodeo world takes the best care of their animals, even if they are the stock for the events. their animals have chiropractors, vets, and love only the rider could provide. after spending $50,000 to $100,000 on a horse, it is only sensible that one would put an extreme amount of time into it. these animals are like the bmw and rolls royce of the equine world.
