GAME PREMISE

The cold night in mid-July, when a funny man in a lime green bowler appeared at 10 Downing Street, seems all but a long-forgotten memory. Time has made an early grave of power and people, has erased from view the moment in which a desperate, failing Ministry of Magic called on the Prime Minister of England for solidarity. A testament to the peace brought by the Boy Who Lived and his unwavering, courageous comrades. A testament to the fact that now, more than ever, the world can rest easy in the unequivocal knowledge that the Dark Lord is, indeed, dead. That’s not to say there haven't been uprisings – murmurs of the next great Wizard who would come to impose a terror none had seen before him. But it had never come to pass. With an efficient Ministry, one whose true aim was that of justice – always justice – it seemed that the end to that fateful Prophecy had instilled a lasting sort of order.

And it had.

But while life went on as usual in the magical world, the dementors were not without misery to feed on. Even as the rules slackened, even as the face of the magical world shifted to resemble in an aesthetic way that of their muggle counterparts, it seemed that the divide between the two had never been wider. As Wizards and Witches moved further from the roar of Muggle London and into their own metropolitan dwellings, it seemed to many that the time had come to sever ties altogether. Perhaps had Shacklebolt not been consumed with the task of rebuilding so many corrupt institutions, he would have given pause to the distant rumblings that could be heard on the muggle television which now sat in many a wizarding home.

When Harry Potter defeated the Death Eaters, he seemed to defeat along with them some of the more stringent boundaries between muggle and magic. In 2021, there seems to be no reason why the Wizarding World shouldn’t partake in the extravagant technology that muggles have long since enjoyed. The cultural shift has brought with it a whole plethora of consequences and implications: everything from the clothing kids wear to the music they listen to has been blown wide open. It isn’t uncommon to hear a 40-something prematurely using the phrase “Back in my day, we didn’t have all this new-fangled technomaggigies…” Cell phones, iPods, computers – why not? Why shouldn’t we? We’ve fought a war. We’re the unconquered. We deserve it. But despite the closing gap of what is and isn’t accessible to magical folk, the world still accepts and operates under the rules of the The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Perhaps it was convenience, or perhaps the time-consuming task of rebuilding an entire world that has kept them so far removed from muggle dilemmas, muggle wars. Because while the dementors no longer fed on their misery, there was no ignoring the fact that they were breeding rather quickly. That something, somewhere was amiss.

September 11 changed the face of the world. So did December 25, 2009, Easter, 2014, and countless days like them. In 2021, there seems no reason why the muggle world should be expected to survive. A raging war battles on, a war based on religious zeal and stubborn pride, on fiscal greed and political corruption, on the growing grey area that marks the lines between good and evil. Starvation sweeps the poorest of poor, biological attacks leave even rich countries destitute, rising temperatures have seen thousands of environmental features destroyed and terrorism seems as common as turning on the television. England is on the brink of losing control. Suddenly, the magical world is faced with a terrible decision: a decision which seems almost counter-intuitive to those goals Harry Potter worked for 25 years ago. It is no longer the Minister of Magic warning the Muggle Prime Minister of what is to come; it is now the remaining fragments of the G8 Leaders who beg for the magical world to intervene. For the first time in memorable history, the magical world is being asked to step in and impose order; step in and seize control; step in and use force.

The England of 2021 is only recognizable through geographic landmarks and the skyline which has managed to salvage Big Ben, despite a series of attacks on the city between 2012 and 2017. Having lost great face in the apparent “War on Terror”, England stepped up its policies surrounding immigration in 2015 after several internal terrorist cells were uncovered. Whether or not it is true, whispers that the cells were only days away from a massive biological attack on the country have pushed fear and paranoia about ‘outsiders’ to a near breaking point. Perhaps because of its isolation from the continent, England has been escaped many of the modern-day plagues which have ravaged France, Germany, Italy and others. Internally, however, it is damaged as its counterparts. With a government barely holding onto power and a public raging against the state of affairs, virtually three quarters of the Middle Eastern population living in England have been expelled from the country. This process began in 2016 and was supposed to have been completed by 2018. In 2021, there are still planes leaving daily. Many of those being extradited were born and raised in England; it doesn’t matter. Everyone and anyone was, to England, a threat.

For the small population of Middle Eastern (and increasingly, Western Asians) allowed to live in England for various reasons, many have been ghettoized. Those who once had plenty have been reduced to very bare, very public living. London has become one of the top-wired cities in the world and one cannot even so much as say the word Arab or bomb without the police pouncing. Cameras set up about the city, MI:5 Intelligence Agents are able to watch the goings on 24-7. Beyond London, the English countryside remains one of the most unchanged landscapes the world over. Considering the major drought in Africa and huge environmental catastrophe in Southern America, one can only consider themselves so fortunate as to reside in the still green, still thriving rural England. After a deadly strand of typhus swept the United Kingdom from 2013-2015, most began to realize that a retreat from the major muggle metropolitans was necessary for their safety.

The question now is fight or flight. With wizarding cities springing up, nearly invisible to the muggle eye, one can feel as if the war and destruction is occurring in some far-off, distant planet. Somethings, however, are unavoidable: the leaders of the G8 warn that the Middle Eastern Nations are very near being capable to reach the United States of America by nuclear means. Once that ‘Great Bastian of Hope’ is destroyed, it will only be a matter of moments. Curiously, some witches and wizards find that it is becoming increasingly difficult to remember and perform spells they would have normally been able to without aide. Could it be that the two worlds are more intrinsically linked than it would seem? Does the Wizarding World’s fate balance as precariously as that of the muggle’s?

In 2021, the Wizarding World is faced with a single, crucial decision: to seize power, to take control, to make peace. Is it time, perhaps, to lift the age-old statue, to break the boundaries between magical and muggle? To let go of tradition, and looking only toward the uncertain future.

Marcus seems to have escaped from the situation unscathed but that hasn't stopped society wives from avoiding poor Melinda in case their own husbands fall to the same fate. Coming each from long-standing, pureblooded families affected by the war, it seemed a natural fit when Susan Bones’ younger brother and the second Montgomery daughter decided to marry. Having each lost a sibling, they have done their utmost to protect their children – perhaps with a bit too much zeal. Sheltered and a little naïve, the protective bubble which the Bones’ house is secured in seems as if it could burst at any moment. Whether they’ve helped or harmed is all a matter of perspective.

Being almost polar opposites, Terry a responsible writer for The Prophet and Mandy an absurdly eccentric editor for Fashion/Political magazine The Rag, it wasn’t uncommon for Terry to simply leave the house for a few days to catch his breath. Though their fighting might get loud, their making up is generally as vigorous. How’s that for some good old fashioned emotional baggage?

This match was certainly not made in heaven, and for most of Hogwarts 97 alum, it was difficult to swallow the news that Cornfoot and MacDougal had tied the knot. With clashing personalities and parents on very different sides of the war, their chance meeting at Stephen’s pub after Morag had been traveling abroad surprised even their closest of friends. While it took some convincing, Stephen finally managed Morag to go out with him and the rest is, as they say, history. Though marriage has never been particularly easy for the pair, considering Stephen’s many business ventures, the two have managed to come out the other end in one relative piece. With a restaurant, pub and café to his name, Stephen passes onto his children a head for business and a knack for finding the party.

A hands on mum who likes to think of herself as a friend to her daughter, her sporadic dating never seems to be a point of contention. Her somewhat liberal parenting methods, however, sometimes are.

Both being Hufflepuffs and rather rough-about-the-edges muggleborns, it seemed to make sense to everyone that these two Football fans would get their act together; to everyone else, that is. It took awhile – including a marriage to an American on Kendra’s part – but the two finally saw the sense everyone else did and found themselves happily occupied with three boys. With a philosophical father and an exuberant mother, the boys have been raised in the quiet country with lots of room to run about, kick a football or contemplate the Big Questions. Their life might seem a little simple in comparison to some, but it also means an unshakably strong family unit.

For Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, there really wasn't any other - Ginny Weasley was the one, since day one. Ever since the monster in his chest came into being, Harry knew, if the war ever ended, he'd end up with Ginny Weasley, and Ginny knew, if Harry came out alive, she'd end up with that difficult prat, too. You could say it was a match made in heaven, but that'd be a lie - nothing relating to Harry Potter could ever be that simple, after all. Nevertheless, the two did indeed get married, and did indeed have a relatively normal life; and, after the way the first seventeen years of their lives had gone, both of them rather deserved the normalcy that now prevailed. Harry still remained the undisputed Saviour of the Wizarding World, despite his attempts to shun reporters and the public eye, although thankfully, he never again had to deal with the harsh criticisms that had so harassed him throughout his teenage years. An Undesirable no more, Harry was now the Wizarding World's posterchild, and as the years went on, the Wizarding World's posterman: a man with three beautiful children, a successful wife, and the picture-perfect image of a bright and happy family.

It all began with a Quidditch tryout. Though Victoria opted for her Charms club over playing for Gryffindor, the friendship that developed between Demelza and Victoria after the tryouts didn't dwindle like the latter's Keeper career. Despite being in different years, and running in different crowds, there seemed to be a pull between the two that caused them only to grow closer as time went on. In Victoria's seventh year, which happened to be Demelza's sixth, they finally gave in to their more-than-friends feelings, and came out soon after Demelza left Hogwarts. Although being lesbian is just as much a controversial issue in the Wizarding world as it is in the Muggle, the headstrong and vocal duo had no problem telling the world they wanted to be together. It's been two decades, and after having children and watching them grow up in a tight-knit and open-minded environment, this is still very much the case.

Luna and Rolf met while the two of them were out on the Isle of Wright searching for a new breed of plimpies. The two of them had heard about each other from various sources, but neither had expected that they'd garner affection for each other. Their shared love for the bizarre and undiscovered drew them together and after an all nighter where the two sipped butterbeer and talked themselves hoarse about all the places they wanted to go and the dreams of discovery that they had, they decided that the only thing in the world to do was to be married. The two now travel the world during holidays with their children and move all over the country during the year, because variety is truly the spice of the Scamander life.

Though these two friends seemed on the brink of something more for a good seven or eight years, no one was surprised that Zacharias' sulky nature prevented any actual relationship to form. Megan, a little more energetic and just a touch more flighty, didn't seem to particularly mind their friends-with-benefits status, and so no one is entirely sure when these two Quidditch playing Hufflepuffs crossed the line and became something more. Despite this ambiguous start, their home has been run fairly efficiently with just enough focus on their children for them to not feel particularly neglected. It doesn't stop Zacharias and Megan from their former antics, however. But it does save their children from being spoiled.

The union of Tabitha Rivers and Nikolas Vaisey was either a match made in heaven or a match made in hell, depending on your perspective. Heaven for the bystanders that were counting down the days until both parties were finally plucked out of the dating pool and into nuptials, because God knows they deserved eachother; hell for anyone who had more than fleeting contact with them, for they bickered as often as they romanced eachother. Their fights were legendary, and often caused by the silliest of things. The fights lessened a bit when Nikolas went into professional Quidditch, allowing Tabitha to live off his money without worry, and it is painfully obvious that neither of them were well-equipped to be parents. Still, the marriage was faithful enough and at times even deceptively normal--until children entered the picture. Accidents are pesky things, aren't they?

When Romilda Vane discovered that Harry Potter was to marry Ginny Weasley, fury was the only apt word to describe her state. On a quest for revenge, she dug her claws into the next most famous man she could find – Christopher Warbeck. Grandson of the legendary Celestina, it seemed only natural the talent would be hereditary. Unfortunately, upon discovering that her husband was meek and mild, with a tin-ear to boot, it was too late. Though the marriage is a sham, Romilda puts all her energy on turning out the next pop star and is the ultimate stage mum. Having a daughter in the same year and house as Albus Potter? Icing on the cake!

Life immediately after the death of Fred the First was extremely hard for the remaining Weasley twin. George threw himself into Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes with a passion and ignored everything outside the joke shop, including his fledgling relationship with Alicia Spinnet. However, the feisty sports writer wasn't going to have any of that and set to single handedly saving their future together. George and Alicia may fight more than the average household thanks to their hotheaded attitudes, but they also laugh more. It's a cheery household filled with pranks, Quidditch, and the occasional explosion. George still occasionally stares off into the distance with a sad look and he's always pointing out things that his twin would have enjoyed, but they are, hands down, the happiest family that was ever put through their certain brand of ordeal.

Percy and Penny have been together since their sixth year in Hogwarts and have one of those relationships so many teenagers hope that they can find within the walls. They supported each other through the war, while Percy was in outs with his family and Penny was going through Healer training. Once the war was over, the two were married in December of 1998. They eventually had their three children and are very loving and supportive. However, they do have rather high expectations for them all, wanting them to be the very best in everything they put their minds to.

The Journals.
The journals are not a new invention in 2021; in fact, to the majority of the students they are an outdated remnant of the past, hardly comparable to the World Wide Web that most families now have access to. On September 1 when the students arrive in the Great Hall, they will be greeted with the familiar, brown-leather notebooks as well as a new Headmistress. The ancient contraptions should be, for them, the first red flag that change is underfoot.

When reading their journals, the name - as well as the handwriting of any particular student - is visible. This means that it is extremely difficult to impersonate someone, unless one both steals another's journal and employs a handwriting charm. Entries are not visible until they are completed, which means one cannot view the writing of a journal entry while it's in progress.

Photographs and drawings are permitted in the journals with the use of spellotape. That said, we'd ask that the images are clean, free of text and actually resemble photographs. Use your discretion and if you're unsure, ask the mods!

Along the same lines, students are able to make private entries by employing a simple charm. Journal entries, as well as comments, can be made private to one individual (Charmed to the Giant Squid) or a group of people (Charmed to Ravenclaw 7th Years). They can also be filtered against an individual or group, but in this case, it is a hex (Hexed Against Gryffindor). A hex is extremely difficult to break and on the off-chance it is broken, the perpetrator will break out into neon yellow boils.

With that said, you can not "half and half" a comment or an entry. In other words, if you wish to write something public and something private, you must post two separate entries. Any comment or post which is charmed private should say so in the subject line, though nothing else should be included (i.e. those pesky extra RE:s). To be clear, a public entry can have private comments attached to it. They just must be either strictly public or strictly private.

When posting a log, please use the following format:

We encourage both AIM logging as well as threading vis a vis the journals. We ask, however, that you finish threads in a timely manner. For the sake of moving things along, threaded logs have a two week expiration date from that on which it was started. After that, you will be notified and they will be purged.

Both logs, as well as Owls, should be posted in the main community. Feel free to send Owls to and from family members who are not in play.

PBs & Icons.
Please remember when choosing a PB that they must be age-appropriate to the game. We'd ask that you veer away from overused faces, but are not providing you with a banned list. While we prefer people a little more uncommon, we understand that there is a right way to use every PB. Keep in mind that the mods reserve the final say in any PB choices. We also happen to be more than willing to help, as is the fabulous community find_a_pb!

Icons must not have any added text or decoration beyond a border. They should be 100x100, clean, and simple. For the sake of continuity and the purpose of a PB, we will ask you to remove any icons that don't comply with this rule.

We also understand that, for various reasons, you might want to include icons (or images) of your character's family. We encourage getty models, especially for siblings. If you choose to portray a sibling by an actual celebrity, you must check with the mods first. It isn't fair to claim PBs that are suitable for in-game play.

Writing.
No one is perfect; we certainly aren't, and we don't expect you to be either. That said, this game's main focus is on the writing and development of characters, and for that reason we ask that you spell and grammar check prior to posting.

Please refrain from OOC comments, smiley faces, netspeak etc. when communicating in-character. This includes subject lines. Any and all discussion can be done via private messages, emails or AIM. When writing or reading journal entries, note that ~~strike-throughs~~ cannot be read and have been, quite literally, scratched out. Do not employ italics to describe the entry which follows, i.e. [Tear stains can be seen and the hand-writing is messy]. Part of being a good, well-rounded writer is the ability to communicate feeling through your character's words.

Also note that entries should be written in first person, logs and threads in third. While we understand that the diverse nature of the class list means we're welcoming characters from various regions, you should not write out accents unless you provide us with an example. Though slang is permitted in your entries, any accepted accents will only be permitted in third person logs. Zere will be no writing like zees.

Relationships & IC Conduct.
Godmodding is not allowed. If another player comes to the mods with an issue surrounding godmodding, we will give you a warning; further action will get you removed from the game. It's really important you be aware of your boundaries and do not make assumptions. We really encourage OOC interaction and part of working together in a game means making sure you're on the same page.

Though this may sound obvious, we like to cover our butts: no teen pregnancies. While it is likely that, considering the age of our cast, drugs and drinking will be at the very least mentioned, try to keep it believable. This game is plot-heavy, and as such we expect our players to react not only to their character's raging hormones but to the political situation at hand. If we begin to see unnecessary smut, we will privately discuss the matter with you.

Before any drastic changes are made to your character, you must contact a mod. This includes, but is not limited to: PB, sexual orientation, family situation, personality, etc. You must have approval before going through with any possible changes. In order to curb any drama mongering, we also ask that you discuss any major plot with us. Deaths, serious illness or injury, etc. fall under this category.

OOC Conduct.
With the explosion of character development journals, it's easy for a small problem to escalate to full-blown Wankfest 2007. We don't want it here. OOC problems have too often been the death of an RPG, so our policy is no-nonsense. If you have a problem with another player, please either bring it discreetly to the mods attention or solve it privately. If you cannot comply with this rule, we will have to ask you to bow out of the game.

Character Limit.
For now, the character limit will remain at four. However, we are willing to be flexible with this rule depending on the circumstance. Depending on how much of you're character we've seen and how well we know you as a role-player, we may ask you to wait for a "trial period" before applying for a second, third or fourth character.

Activity.
Our preferred level of activity is a minimum of one journal entry every two weeks.

However! Considering the age range of our players, we don't feel it appealing or necessary to babysit. We won't constantly be whining after someone to update, and therefore our policy is simple: on the last of every month, we will do a "sweep". During the third week of the month, a list of those people who have not updated since the last sweeps will be made, and these players will be notified by email. If you have not updated by the last day of the month, your character will be purged from the game. We also have a three strikes and you're out rule, though we will be reasonable and flexible (especially if the instances are very well spaced out). If you make the sweeps list three times, you will be asked to leave the game.

Of course, sometimes real life situations come up and we're more than willing to give you a breather. However, before you take time away from the game, let the mods know. After that, we'd just ask that you make a post in the OOC community and give us a tentative date to check back in with you. Remember, sometimes when you take a hiatus you miss crucial activity. Unfortunately, life goes on, and we can't halt or modify plot to suit your characters needs after the fact.

If my character was born in such-and-such a year, what year should they be in?
Oh, how we love you J.K. Rowling! Regardless of the complicated (and often erroneous) math our beloved author abides by, we're going to keep things extremely simple. If your character is fifteen before September 1, they will be in fifth year. It seems that's what JK was aiming at, anyway.

How does time work in Unconquered?
We will be playing based on a real-time calender. With a start date of September 1, that should essentially mean that every day in our year translates to the same day in their year. To be clear, this game will be taking place in 2021, six years after our last glimpse of the Trio in the Deathly Hallows' Epilogue.

Are adults available for play?
We would like to make it clear that Unconquered is, ultimately, a Hogwarts-centric game. However, we are more than willing (and happy!) to accept adult characters, provided you can make them pertinent to plot. This means it is unlikely that applying for a minor character from the books (i.e. Megan Jones) will be allowed. Please check with one of the mods if you are interested in a character who doesn't appear on the list.

How are the Head Boy and Girl chosen?
Head Boy and Head Girl, since 2003, have been voted on by the student body. Campaigning and voting takes place in April of the year before the title is to be held.

What is life at Hogwarts like?
After Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort (now referred to as The Great War), Hogwarts began to rebuild under the guidance of Professor Minerva McGonagall. Though she was happy to oversee it's restructuring, both architecturally and internally, she took the mantle of Headmistress under the condition it would only be a five-year term to ensure that the school ran as Albus Dumbledore would have wanted it. When those five years was up and Hogwarts passed hands, many rules began to change.

Though classes remained as they were, reforms in school uniforms and items allowed to be brought into the school began to change. As the atmosphere in the Wizarding World slackened, so it was reflected inside Hogwarts' halls. From the traditional robes, students were now only required to wear black trousers or a skirt, an oxford shirt, a tie and a sweater vest - robes were optional. Small items such as iPods and MP3 players were allowed within the grounds, though lifting the magic to allow it proved rather complex and up until five years ago, computers were not able to be accessed on the premises. Students are now allowed to bring a laptop with them to school, and assignments may be typed and printed rather than written out on parchment.

Cellphones remain one of the top contraband items and if Filch so much as glimpses one, you can be sure to have detention for a year. Reception is poor anyway, and it is unlikely that one will manage to smuggle one into the castle.

How have the rights of half-breeds (i.e. Werewolves, Goblins, etc.) changed since 1998?
The answer, quite simply, is dramatically. Since Hermione Granger graduated Hogwarts and began her dedicated campaign for the rights of House Elves (among other "half-breeds") Wizarding Law has shifted to accommodate the rights of more than just men and women. It is very rare nowadays for a family to own a House Elf. The entire of Hogwarts' kitchen staff, for example, is paid and given holidays off. On some things, the stigma remains; however, advances in Wolfsbane and PR campaigns against the marginalization of Werewolves has increased public awareness around the issue and made accessing jobs for that part of the population much easier.

What technological advances have muggles made since 2007?
For the sake of the game, we're going to keep technological advances at a minimum. Computers are speedier, you can most likely see someone when talking to them on the phone, but flying cars and the like aren't going to happen. If anything, there are fewer cars on the road due to the astronomical price of fuel and due to the fact that public transport is so highly advanced they're no longer necessary. If you ever need clarification or have an idea, please run it by a mod!

What are the Three Major Metropolis' and why don't I remember them?

NETTLEWEED, SCOTLAND
POPULATION: 11 349
MAYOR: Daryl McHall

The biggest all-magical community in the United Kingdom. Established in 2007, Nettleweed was the first city the wizarding community could call their own. The bustling wizarding metropolitan houses numerous businesses, shops, attractions and of course, the homes of thousands of witches and wizards. Gringott's headquarters, as well as wizarding banks from America, Canada and various parts of Europe and Asia can be found in the financial centre located in the heart of the city. Amidst the banks and business headquarters are Nettleweed's five prestigious law firms, which have increased in popularity over the past two decades as demand for legal services has risen. Nettleweed also houses a large industrial sector, where everything from brooms to cauldrons are manufactured. In 2011, St Mungo's packed up and moved to Nettleweed and exists as the primary research and teaching hospital in the wizarding world, though its sister hospital, Dumbledore Medical Centre, was built in Tuffets in late 2015.

TUFFETS, ENGLAND
POPULATION: 7 781
MAYOR: Ernie Macmillan

Tuffets, the second biggest wizarding city in the UK located in Southwest England, is similar to Nettleweed in many ways, but is smaller and functions independently.

The Ministry of Magic Headquarters is still located in London with municipal offices in the cities of Nettleweed and Tuffets and the village of Ballyknock.

BALLYKNOCK, NORTHERN IRELAND

A medium sized village, Ballyknock is much quieter than Nettleweed and Tuffets. Not very much a city at all, Ballyknock is known for its many farms, where all kinds magical creatures are raised and herbs and plants are grown primarily for export.

NAME: DELBERT DITHERON AGE: 45

The irony is not lost on Ditheron; at 45, he has still not quite managed to obtain the gift of gab, yet he teaches Ancient Runes. Perhaps his deficiency with the English language and his habitual stutter are the reasons he became so fascinated with symbology in the first place. His lectures can be a touch difficult to get through, considering he often talks in circles - or to himself, no one's ever quite sure. But once you get past his quirky manner of speech, you find a Professor rather willing to help his students and passionate about the subject he teaches. He is, easily, one of Hogwarts most brilliant minds - it's only a shame that mind wasn't a bit easier to get at.

NAME: BRIGID WENLOCK AGE: 27

Brigid Wenlock is, above all else, madly in love. Madly, terribly, head-over-heels in love - with NUMBERS! Bright, exuberant, and all about digits and decimals, Professor Wenlock is the sort who always encourages. A Hufflepuff through and through, the somewhat young and rather clumsy woman is as kind as kind come - until you insult her class. This could happen in any number of ways: You might sneeze; you might even look as if your eyelids are a little droopy. And that's when the terribly passionate, terribly scorned side of Wenlock appears. Wack-a-doo Wenlock, to some. It would be strongly, strongly advised you never suggest females are lesser than males when it comes to math and the sciences.

NAME: AURORA SINISTRA AGE: 56
HEAD OF RAVENCLAW

One of the remnants of Hogwarts past, Aurora Sinistra has, in recent years, become much more of a fixture at the school. Prior to the war, she often kept herself upstairs and out of the way, but she's come to love the school most ardently for it's inanimate bravery. Though getting on in years, she is always well put together and is the sort of Professor who is able to easily recall little details about her students. Though she falls onto the severe side of the spectrum, she's not nearly so fearsome as Minerva McGonagall - her self-professed idol. Current Head of Ravenclaw House, she isn't warm and fuzzy enough to be considered a Mother Hen, but certainly has a soft-spot for her own kind.

NAME: CHARLIE WEASLEY AGE: 53

Charlie Weasley never married, much to the dismay of his mother. He was married to his work, it seemed, and it was only five years ago that he finally agreed to return to England. No one is certain if he's absolutely happy with his position as Professor, but it's certainly given him an opportunity to spend more time with his nieces and nephews. To his credit, Care of Magical Creatures has never been a more popular subject, and his split duties as Quidditch Guru and Referee make him a popular figure amongst the student body. Judicious and fair, he's never accused by anyone of favouritism - unless, of course, you include any number of Slytherins.

NAME: AARON BARDMEN AGE: 38

Whose afraid of the Big Bad Snape? The answer would be no one, after five minutes stuck in Bardmen's classroom. Charms, formerly the most popular subject at Hogwarts, is now rather less attended - but no less necessary. Former member of Slytherin House, Bardmen's ambition all counted for nothing, and the fact that he loathes being a Professor at Hogwarts is apparent to everyone. His teaching methods are questionable, his knowledge patchy at best. Though he may not favour the Slytherins as Snape did, his rath is no less maddening. The main difference? There are only three pre-requisites to his hating you: you're a student, you're a student, and you're still breathing his air.

NAME: TEDDY LUPIN AGE: 23

Teddy Lupin has just been given word that he'll be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts: and it feels like first year all over again. When his predecessor, Professor Tufkins, passed away peacefully this summer, Teddy - to the great surprise of his family and friends - decided to quit the Auror Training program he'd been accepted into just when he'd nearly graduated, and apply. Lo and behold, he got the position. Though he doesn't have a lot of hands on experience, his work with the Aurors and his famous relations certainly helped his case. Seeing the year as a way to connect with his dad, he isn't yet sold on teaching being anything permanent. That will all depend, he figures, on how many times he gets "Kick Me" spellotaped to his back.

NAME: AMADEUS WEXFORD AGE: 33

If we didn't know better, we'd vaguely suspect Gilderoy Lockhart and Sibyl Trelawney got in on sometime in Harry Potter's second year and produced an illegitimate lovechild. Because really. Though he enjoys predicting death with even more pep and zeal (and graphic, unnecessary detail) than his predecessor, Wexford is also in the business of predicting steamy, torrid romances - particularly with dashing, older Professor types. If it weren't for his rather, er, unconventional teaching methods with his female students, one might suspect he was batting for the other team. Flirty? Pervy? Check and check. Deluded but, sigh, handsome? Ugh, grudgingly check.

NAME: NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM AGE: 41
HEAD OF GRYFFINDOR

Neville Longbottom was fortunate to leave the war not only with his life, but with the rightful status of Hero. Having risen to the occasion, he might not have received the same degree of recognition from the media as Harry did, but he certainly won something a lot more important - self respect. Having happily taken up the post as Herbology Professor, Neville returns to Hogwarts with a new baby and a family now occupying the renovated cottage Hagrid used to live in. His wife? One Gabrielle Delacour, who couldn't be more in love if she tried. Perhaps it's in her blood, non?

NAME: CUTHBERT BINNS AGE: DEAD

Cutbert Binns is, as he ever was, old, dead and boring. Beyond a little spark that lights up in his otherwise stony eyes when asked to recount The Battle for Hogwarts (a book he wrote the year following Voldemort's death - the only book, we might add, to be written by someone posthumously), Binns still puts students to sleep. In fact, he's putting us to sleep. That's it, really.

NAME: PHOEBUS PENROSE AGE: 68
HEAD OF HUFFLEPUFF

Professor Phoebus Penrose's reasons behind leaving Hogwarts years ago remain between he and Albus Dumbledore; when he returned nearly forty years later, no one bothered asking why. Nearing 70, the Muggle Studies Professor is keen on giving his students an in-depth and honest look at the lives of Muggles. But Penrose himself isn't so easy to pin. His classes are far from fluff, as they've been considered in the past, and his focus tends to be on the politics of the failing Muggle world. One can't help but notice that it isn't exactly with warm fuzzies that he speaks of muggles. In fact, if you didn't know better, you'd think that Penrose subscribed to that age-old mentality: keep your friends close and keep your enemies directly under your thumb.

NAME: JAYNE STIDGE AGE: 36

Of the Professors at Hogwarts, Stidge definitely ranks as one of the best. A brilliant, if at times somewhat edgy, sense of humour, has made her easily likeable amongst the student population. She might have a bit of a potty mouth, but make no mistake - Jayne isn't about passing students just for the hell of it. Approachable she may well be, but easy she most certainly isn't. Her class is hard, her marking fair, and her attitude can be very no-nonsense. But a student seeking her help? Will always find an open door. A single mother, she sometimes allows her six-year-old daughter to make guest appearances in her class. For the rest of the time, she lives in Hogsmeade where occasionally students stop by to babysit.

NAME: OCTAVIA VISKILL AGE: 37
HEAD OF SLYTHERIN

Ambition? She's not Head of Slytherin House for nothing! Were it not for the fact that she's been literally dying for the position of Headmistress since she was a girl - think of the power she'd have over those nasty students who used to tease her! - she would never have taken up teaching. Her love is less for her subject and more for the power it brings with it. That said, she is nothing if not efficient. She requested and requested and requested the Slytherin Head position until she was blue in the face - and lo! Her class is difficult, her attitude hellishly severe, and her smile rather off-putting. Her favourite pastime? Polishing things. Shiny nameplaques and Head of House badges. Head of House badges, you say? That particular gem was her idea. Brilliant!

Augustus Pye, well-meaning though he may well be, isn't exactly the most comforting sort of person to watch over you. Having been politely asked to transfer from St. Mungo's to Hogwarts, everyone assumed that with the more glaringly disturbing cases out of his reach, he'd manage to pull himself together, in a manner of speaking. Unfortunately, Pye's penchant for the odd, experimental and muggle doesn't seem to have left him. Come into the Hospital Wing with a cut on your elbow and leave with something generally more painful. Many teachers threaten a trip to Pye's office when attempting to gain order in their classroom - we have it on good authority that it works, even if your name is James Sirius Potter.

For Seventh Year students, an average schedule would contain six-seven courses. Remember that they only picked up two, possibly three electives in third year. It is therefore highly unlikely they would have anymore than that. It should also be noted that Muggle Studies was a core class until the students' fifth year.

An over-loaded schedule would contain eight courses.

A below-average schedule would contain aproximately five courses.

An insane schedule would contain nine courses (Oh, honestly!).

Because classes have become more specialized by Seventh Year, there will only be one section of each course offered. Once you have submitted your student's classes, the mods will send you a schedule with times, teachers and books required.

Most of the above applies for Sixth Year students. However, we might expect an average schedule contains aproximately seven-eight classes. These classes will be determined based on O.W.L. results from the year prior.

In Fifth Year, students continue on with the core classes but are free to drop up to one elective.

Every Seventh Year Student will also be assigned a time to meet with their Heads of House once a week to discuss progress and any concerns about the upcoming N.E.W.Ts. This meeting will take place between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 and is mandatory. Students are strongly encouraged to form study groups amongst themselves.

PREFECTS & ROUND SCHEDULES

Prefect meetings occur every Sunday at 4:00 PM. Optional/emergency meetings may be called when/if the Head Boy or Girl sees it fit. Prefects in the same year and house are expected to meet for half an hour a week and should work this out depending on their schedules. House Prefect meetings should occur a half an hour before the General meeting, in order for everyone to discuss the week prior.

Head Boy and Girl are expected to meet after the general meeting and brief the Headmistress at 8:00 every Sunday evening.

Curfew begins at 9:00 PM except on Friday and Saturday evenings; curfew on these nights begins at 11:00 PM. Prefect rounds are to ensure this curfew is enforced, the exception being when a student is given express permission from a Professor. Every evening, either the Head Boy or Girl will be on duty, and it is to them that any problem will be reported. All Quidditch matches will take place on Saturdays, beginning at 3:00 PM. The final match will take place on a Friday evening at 7:00 PM. For a more detailed list of Quidditch dates, please go to here. The following is a practicing schedule for all Quidditch teams. If a captain chooses to forgo one of their designated practice blocks, the pitch is open to whichever team signs up for it first. Quidditch practices are closed, and a grace period of ten minutes on weeknights should be afforded to each team entering and exiting the pitch.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Since 1998, Hogwarts has begun to expand its extra-curriculars in the hopes of turning out well-rounded, active young adults. While some clubs go back over a hundred years, like the The Charms Society and The Dueling Club, other more recent additions reflect the administration's changing attitude toward what is beneficial to the student body. In other words, clubs that would otherwise be deemed "muggle" have found their way into Hogwarts' roster of activities.

In order for a club to come into existence, it must first receive the approval of one Hogwarts Professors, who will vaguely oversee its running. Leadership, however, is encouraged, and as such, the task of scheduling falls mostly on the shoulders of the appointed Student Head. Generally, clubs should meet for approximately one to two hours every week and hold events, discussions and debates for their members.

The exception to this rule is Intramural Football, an addition which caused a great deal of controversy in 2017 when it was added to the Clubs List. Intramural Football is played on teams of six every Friday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Games are timed to last one hour each, with two thirty-minute halves. The size of the Quidditch pitch allows two games to be played on the field simultaneously. Scheduling of said games is set by the Professor overseeing it, and varies depending on the interest. It is mandatory when making a team that there must be at least two members of the opposite sex playing each game.

When joining a club, it is essential that every student makes sure that they have nothing already on their schedule (i.e. Quidditch practice or Prefect Rounds) which will conflict with meeting times. Please sign up for clubs below!
