The dwarves have lived and mined in the Endless Mountains all their lives. They lived in enclaves in the side of the mountains that kept them close to their horde of gold in the mines. Greed and jealousy quickly became an issue for the otherwise peaceful tribe. Five hundred years ago, the dwarves broke out in a war. The cost of war was far more devastating than any could have imagined; almost the entire tribe was wiped out and even more devastating, was when the survivors realized that the blood was on their hands. The remaining population of the tribe moved deep into the mountains, ashamed of their actions, but still clutching their greed. They have lived and died inside the mountains and slowly the tribe has continued dying out, until the remaining three decided to step into the light, only very recently.

Samuil is the oldest and leading dwarf of the three survivors. His family line is the only one that traces back to the old dwarf royalty. Samuil believes that they were trapped in the caves because they are atoning for their past mistakes. He is fierce, headstrong, chronically grouchy, and at the center of it all he's a big softy.

Aleksander is the storyteller of the tribe. He is curious and adventurous, he's always wondering around in the caves, looking for new things. He wants to break out of the caves and explore the island. Like the other two, he is the only surviving member of his family line. As a child he grew up listening to the stories of the past and kept them alive by telling the stories to whoever would listen to them.

Yordan is the youngest living dwarf. She is the clever sassy one and lets the others know what's on her mind. Her mother and father died in the cave when she was very young and her mother made her promise to get out some day. She is inquisitive and curious, she wants to know what the island has to offer and plans on travelling extensively in the coming years.

About fifty years ago, during the Great Elf War, there was an attack lead by the dark elves on the hobbit village. Entire families were slaughtered in the middle of the night, by morning the population was devastated, and there was no explanation for why the attack even happened. It was well known that the hobbits and the elves had always been allies, so the attack surprised many.

The hobbits have been working to reawaken their village and rebuild, they've come far, but they are still a very small community. They are under the powerful protection of the light elves.

The hobbits are simple folk; they play music, drink, dance, and they garden. They garden so well that they supply the other villages of the community with vegetables and fruits when there is a need. They do not typically get involved with wars or politics, but a hobbit can sense when something is odd or when bad times are ahead.

Braeden is one of the four leading hobbits in the community. He loves to travel around the village and tends to bring a basket of vegetables with him if he plans on visiting another tribe. He is very intelligent and innovative. He is taking a new approach to rebuilding the hobbit village; education.

Seamus is one of the leading hobbits, he is behind Braeden's idea of education even though the older hobbits disregard the innovation. He is good with children and animals, he is also a very learned traveler of the island. He knows a lot about the different cultures on the island and has made friends in many of the tribes.

Aislin is a simple hobbit, but a good hearted woman at that. She is one of the hobbits who is helping Braeden with his vision of a new hobbit village. Aislin is an educator but instead of teaching them about the stars, the island, cultures, building, and reading, she brings them outside to play in the garden and the fields. She is very earthy and one of the best gardeners in the village.

Nora is the youngest leading hobbit. She supports Braeden's idea and plan but there are other things occupying her mind.

The light elves were created by the gods as mercenaries but seeing that they became a peaceful tribe, the dark elves were created to destroy what the light elves could not... or would not. The light elves and dark elves avoided each other for centuries due to certain taboos about being "unclean" or "weak." But that did not stop certain affairs from rising under the radar, the most problematic being that of Idris and Catrin. They kept their secret well and even had a healthy daughter, Bethen. Bethen lived with her father for ten years in peace and secrecy. One night when Catrin was going to visit Idris and Bethen, she was seen by Eira. Eira brought the news back to the elf tribe to discuss what she had seen and proposed destroying the atrocity. Rhian felt that was too extreme. The next day Bethen was found murdered in her cabin and so was Catrin. Eira was to blame. War broke out when Idris reigned down on the light elf village with an entire army of dark elves behind him.

The light elves have been under the leadership of Rhian and Eira for three hundred years. They continue to lead the tribe through the war and strife. Eira is more aggressive and sometimes takes matters into her own hands by sending out guerrilla troops to attack the dark elves on their home turf.

The light elves have the power of healing and foresight. They are very knowledgeable to the healing power of plants.

Rhian was bonded to Tomos ever since she was very young and her relationship with him stayed true and steady until she met a very persuasive individual, Levi, whom she fell head over heels for. Her first child, Owen, is Tomos's child, though her second child, Deryn, is not. No one, but she and Levi know of the child's real father. Tomos died shortly after the girl's birth when a surprise attack on the village took out many of the light elves. Deryn is kept unaware of her father by her mother because Rhian fears what schemes Levi would come up with for their daughter.

Eira was bonded to Berwyn, and the two happily had a son, Aaren together. When the war came, both her husband and son died. She was devastated by the loss and will stop at nothing until all of the dark elves are killed. She sends secret troops into the dark elf camp for surprise attacks. She was the one who murdered Idris's daughter, Bethen.

Deryn is Rhian's daughter, the girl has magnificent powers that she doesn't understand, and it frightens her. She has an inquisitive mind and can understand things that most would think are beyond her grasp. She has a certain reckless abandon about rules and regulations.

Urien is the only child of Tomos and Rhian. He is a good son, an excellent archer, and a hopeless romantic. He hopes for peace and unity among the elves because he can sense impending problems for the island, and an elf war is the last thing that the island inhabitants need. He is a great older brother and would do anything for his little sister.

Gawain is the heroic figure of the tribe. He helps Eira lead the armed forces. With his dashing smile and subtle sweet talk, he charmed his way into Eira's arms. No one knows of their secret relationship and he plans to keep it that way. Gawain was recently killed in a surprise attack on the dark elf village lead by Eira.

Cadfael is the youngest warrior in the elf tribe's armed forces. He is precise and skilled with a bow, but his healing studies and powers have not flourished because of his inattention to these sort of things. He is a chauvinist and believes that if a man was running the tribe, the dispute with the dark elves would have been ended before it was started.

Violence has plagued the dark elf village, making it hard for them to establish a stable community. They have lived in turmoil and squalor in dirty and primitive homes. War and destruction has been the focus of their lives because of the way they were built. When Idris rose to power in the tribe, he discovered they had other talents that they could focus on rather than on pure destruction. When alchemy was discovered, the tribe turned to more civilized pursuits, but they did not prosper for long because of the war with the light elves.

The dark elves have the power of necromancy and alchemy.

Idris is the leader of the dark elves. He has tried to rebuild the community and reestablish order but with constant battles little progress has been made. Idris barely had time to spend with his own daughter, Bethen (who was neither dark or light because he had an affair with a light elf). Idris was devastated when he discovered her murdered when he came home one night about fifty years ago. He has lead the village through the war and taken all responsibility for the burden the war has caused, including taking in the only orphan of the war, Cai whose mother died at the very beginning of the war as she fought for her home. Idris is a sketcher, mostly because he can't get his hands on any paint so he uses charcoal.

Cai is one of the few children in the dark elf tribe. His mother was killed in the war and he now lives with Idris. He is training with Idris to lead the tribe in the future.

Seren has taken care of her younger sister, Haydn, ever since their parents deaths before the Great Elf War. The care for his sister has taken a toll on her physically and emotionally. She refuses to take part in the war, Idris saw this as an opportunity for an appointment, and he gave her the job of rebuilding a community. Although she has put almost all of her effort into the rebuilding, most of her efforts have been spoiled by war. Many of the buildings she worked for have been burned down and torn to the ground.

Morgan was very young when her parents died and doesn't remember much about them. Most of what she has known has been war and strife, and that really doesn't bother her. She is a fierce warrior, wicked and deranged in every way. She has lived in blood and doesn't plan on changing her way of life.

Branwen was a good friend of Rhian at one time, for three hundred years though, the two have not said a word to each other, too hurt by the "betrayal." Branwen never had children or a husband and although she wouldn't mind having them, she was too focused on keeping the dark elves and light elves separated. She barely uses necromancy or alchemy and focuses mostly on archery and battle skills. Branwen recently discovered that her lover, Levi, was sneaking around on her and trying to have babies with multiple women on the island. She became a vampire, a sire of Aina.

Trev is the oddball of the dark elf community. He fights when he needs to, he performs necromancy when he needs to, but for the most part he spends his time alone on the outskirts of the community. He doesn't really fit in anywhere and he's still looking for his place in life.

Catrin is a light elf who is currently lost. No one knows her whereabouts, but the last time she was seen was in the light elf village with a traveling bag over her shoulder. Those who didn't know her well thought she was going off to visit the hobbits for a little while but those who knew her well knew that she was escaping Eira and trying to save her daughter in a last ditch effort to live happily. She has not been seen since.

Bethen was the daughter of Idris and Catrin. Technically she is neither dark or light, but a hybrid of the two. She always lived with her father in the dark elf village, what most people don't know is that she was born in the hobbit village, who took in Catrin when she was pregnant and she didn't want to give birth to the little girl in her own village, fearing for their safety. She was taken to her father because he could protect her best and she spent a life growing up in a dark and dingy cabin in the dark elf village. She was happy and even spent a lot of time with her mother who often snuck into the dark elf village to spend time with her family. She was murdered by Eira one night during a light elf attack on the village. Her death sparked all out conflict between the two tribes. Her existence is still unknown to many of the elves.

Tomos was a the bonded husband of Rhian and the father of Urien, the eldest of Rhian's children, what he did not know was that he was not the father of Deryn. He died in battle with the dark elves.

Berwyn was the bonded husband of Eira and father of Aaren. He died in battle with the dark elves.

Aaren was the son of Berwyn and Eira, he died in battle with his father.

Anwen was the mother of Cai, she died in battle with the light elves.
