Summary: Nick is a natural storyteller. He can talk to anyone about nearly anything and he can make tripping over a rock sound like an exciting adventure. For any situation he has some clever story of something that happened, or could have happened, or should have happened, and that story will remind him of another one and pretty soon he'll have forgotten what it was that he was meant to be doing and will either be talking away or scribbling the new story down in the little black notebook that goes with him everywhere. He's an easy-going guy, but he doesn't have a lot of time for anything that isn't either fun or at least narratively satisfying. Summary: Nick was born and raised on the island. He went to the local public schools and was a pretty good student, mostly due to pressure from his parents to excel and to keep up with his straight-A student sister rather than becuase of any personal ambition. If it weren't for that outside pressure he probably never would have paid attention in any class that didn't involve interesting stories. He gets along well with his family, particularly his sister, but it really bugs him how effortlessly good at everything she seems to be, especially when their parents harass him with the 'Why can't you be more like Jaya?' line.

He graduated near the top of his class (though not valedictorian, much to his parents dismay) and went off to Emerson College where he studied writing and literature. He ended up back in Isle of Palms after that becuase it turns out that a B.A. in English isn't all that useful on it's own. After a few false starts he got a full-time job at the local bookstore, but that's just his day job, because he's certain that soon he's going to be a famous author someday soon.

Power

Omnilingualism: Nick automatically understands all verbal and non-verbal (written, signed, etc.) forms of communication. He can flawlessly speak most languages with ease. Writing in other languages is slightly harder, especially those with unfamiliar alphabets/characters, and tends to give him a headache after awhile. He mainly uses his ability for reading untranslated literature, checking out foreign web sites, and hanging out with tourists. He knows there's something weird about this new ability, but he doesn't think of it as a superpower and deep down he wants to believe that he's always secretly been some sort of linguistic genius and for some reason only realized it recently.
