Utena is one of the few remaining innocent and kind people in her world. Yes there are nice people and innocent too, but not at the level that Utena is. She is above the general kindness that others are, and is the manifestation of the word innocent. Because of this she is a very cheerful person whom gets along with almost any type of person. She easily amazes people with her braveness, prince-like charm, and her looks. Even if Utena gives off the appearance of being unique and what not, most of her personality was stolen from, mimicked from and born from the desire of wanting to be like her prince; the one who saved her from sadness and despair. However Utena, because half of the person she is came from the prince, has another half to her. In other words she is the prince who wants to save fair maidens all while being a fair maiden in despair. One could say she is even trying to save herself as shown in the movie; she turned into a car and escaped from the world she was trapped in.First I will explain the parts of Utena, starting off with her princely side.

Utena is a brave young woman who stands firm with human morals. She willingly will stand up for anyone she sees in trouble may it be female or male. And because she is the prince, Utena will go beyond that! She will also kick the person who is causing harm's butt, and she will worry over the person she is saving. Not only that she will also make the person feel good about themselves. As shown in episode one, she saw the rose bride being slapped by her 'boyfriend' and confronted the boy. Not only does she hate seeing people being abused, but she also will not tolerate it.

As a prince she has to also look like one and even act like one at times! Not to say she doesn't have a female side or that she pretends to be a boy, but she is a tomboy. Utena refuses to wear girls clothing; she wears a boy's uniform to school instead of a girls one, and she does things that aren't exactly ladylike or things that most girls wouldn't do like play all types of sports with boys and only boys, study hard for classes, and ignore bruises or cuts that may appear on her.

Now for the maiden side of Utena. Without it she would be just a prince, like any other which would make the story quite boring. The main reason why she has two sides to her is because the anime is mostly a twisted version of a fairytale in which the maiden tries to find her prince, but in this the basic of lying to oneself and of trying to be something you weren't meant to be is added on. No Utena does not have dissociative identity disorder; she choice all on her own to be a prince. However it is because she is a woman that she was a maiden side to her. For now let's just call her maiden side, normal Utena because it is who she is!

Returning back to being innocent, Utena is extremely innocent and by far naive. Sadly her prince side does not save her form this, but because Utena is terribly innocent and tends to be quite gullible, she is easily taken advantage of or easily abused or easily swayed into doing sexual things as shown with Anthy who after she meets Utena tells her that she can do whatever she wants with her because she is the rose bride even sex.
Because she is so very naive her mind cannot grasp the thought of anyone being truly evil, thus leading her to being way to trustworthy. Her mind also blocks out anything way too violent or anything that she chooses not to believe by using a huge rose. For example; she is walking around school and sees someone rapping someone, her mind automatically erases that memory and blocks it out with a rose. Yes she is aware of what is going on at the moment, but something inside of her does not accept it. It was something that was made unconsciously years ago to block out the death of her parents. However when Utena is the one doing the deed she will not block it out as shown towards the end of the movie when she is naked and making out with Anthy.

Utena is also kind, caring, and cares for others. She tries very hard to make others feel better about themselves when she sees people down in the dumps. Utena will also try to show people that she actually cares, especially if it's a girl.
However because Utena tends to be very blunt and naive, when asked for advice about a problem, she will either try to avoid the situation, or give a very simple and useless solution. It isn't because she is trying to screw over the other person, it is because she simply can't see the evil, or a true problem. Yes Utena is very helpful, and even signs up to help others, but when it comes to advice, that is out of her league.

Even though Utena tries to remain positive and happy most of the time, there are times when she becomes so depressed, because someone made her realize something she did not want to know, she will do everything she normally doesn't, such as wear girl's clothing, talk slowly, be half awake half asleep, and down right cold. She will swallow up in self pity, and will not pull out from her depression until someone pulls her out. As shown with her prince who left her to become a prince, she was very sad but the duty of her job picked her up.

The only unnatural power she posses is the ability to summon a sword out of rose bride Anthy. Sadly others who are in the battles can do that as well.

The bitter smell of roses hit Utena's nose as the man she was with toyed with her breasts. The thought of sex hardly came to her mind, but what she was doing had to be done so she could be with her beloved prince. Yes she recalled this smell, it was the smell of her prince. She loved the smell oh so much, and even if she was in this state. No longer was her mind bothered with the feelings of guilt and sorrow for what she was doing, now her mind was in a state of maturity, of understanding the circumstances.

Yes she enjoyed the man thrusting himself deep within her core, she was used to the feeling. Ever since her first time with the chairman, the feeling of being pleased was one that was well known with Utena. Even if it was her first time with the chairman, he made her feel so wondrous, and he kissed away the pain. The same went for this man. He wasn't rough, and wasn't too soft, but he did try to please her. As he kept going deeper and deeper in her, Utena made soft and graceful moans. Sadly every time she found herself in this position with any customer, Utena often found herself dreaming that the one making her feel so marvelous was her prince and not a random stranger looking for a good time. But soon enough her prince would be with her. Hopefully.
