Her whole personality, goal and dreams revolve around fighting. Born as a Nagin, Sui’s always been strong by default, as Nagins are a race known for their valor and physical strength. What makes her special is that she’s a clear Nagin, or the purest of it in the bloodline, which makes her even stronger as a character. For her, a Nagin who can’t fight is nothing but trash, so she aims to challenge all of the strongest people in the world. She fights using an iron hoop dubbed “Avis”, an unconventional weapon that she uses for both offensive and defensive maneuvers. She can ride it by spinning it at an incredible speed, letting her ride on walls without a problem, or using it to attack others easily. When attacked by projectiles, she stays in the center of it and spins it around just as quickly, resulting in deflecting all the attacks.

She can be very shameless, whether it’s by dating ten guys at the same time, flashing her chest without a second thought or entering the bathroom while someone is showering. She even broke Kiri’s heart three times in a row by asking him to date her, dumping him the next day, rinse and repeat, causing him to swear off love at the age of 14. She doesn’t think twice about stalking Kiri when she found out that he had gotten in trouble before, doing it for three days and three nights in hopes of encountering a strong person who would attack him. When asked to design clothes that would show enough skin for contact during battle, she draws Kiri and Elraine with only a leaf, stating it was a masterpiece. If it’s the sake of fighting someone stronger, she will get annoyed if her friends (or bait) actually defeat the guy chasing them, just like she does with Kiri and Elraine. She can be rather selfish in that respect as well, going and doing what she wants even if others tell her not to. If you tell her no, she will more likely want to do it more, like trying to touch Elraine even if she might get sick for it, or fighting bad guys even when others told her to stay back. She even steals Elraine’s purse so she can buy cherries, coming and going around like a cat instead of sticking to one place. Also, Sui likes to do things at her own pace, waiting until things are to her favor before she jumps in. This happens when Kiri and Elraine got attacked, arriving only at the last minute to save them despite having been there the whole time only because it makes her cooler. She even intentionally leaves Kiri’s group for a while because she knew that by doing that, it’ll be easier to catch the bad guys trying to kill them.

Because of her intense yet simple-minded desire to fight, she gets easily bored and restless, going so far as to bet on the matches she has to see if it’ll make it more interesting. She complains about people who are weaker than her, having challenged more than a thousand people and going so far as to challenge groups as she has never met anyone who can defeat her… except for Fallan. Because she’s never been defeated before, she took the loss really badly and practically bawled like a child, stating things like “I’m gonna kwill him. Don’t wook!” and looking rather comical despite it all, indicating that she can be quite a sore loser in an actual battle. After that, if Fallan so much as glances in her direction, she will take it as a sign of challenge or mocking, making it even harder for him. For a person who loves to fight, Sui hates losing or being told that she might lose, getting angry at Elraine when she implied that she might get killed by a small fry.

Speaking of things that get her angry, Sui hates it when people do anything to her hair, resulting in her rampaging even more than usual. This occurred during her fight against a knife-wielding assassin, resulting in her borrowing Kiri’s Flare power to drive him up into a wall after he had cut her hair. She has a very honest and blunt personality, one who never thinks of the consequences of what she does or says before she does them. She laughs at things she finds funny, even if it involved other people’s misery, like Kiri and Elraine’s situation. She insults an enemy’s perfume without a second thought, stating it smelled like fart because it was that bad. She doesn’t think twice about revealing that she’s Kiri’s EX, or supporting any situation that seems funny, like helping Kiri’s parents make an embarrassing banner telling them to be careful and not to two-time.

That isn’t to say that she’s a bad person. Far from it, as even Kiri states that she is a good girl. It’s just that she’s very simple-minded and carefree, often following her own pace, but not quite one who will completely abandon her friends in a pinch. She’s cheerful and happy-go-lucky, addicted to cherries, and quite friendly despite her tendency to fight. She’s easy enough to get along with, though a bit pushy, and enjoys teasing others when she can help it.

Samples;
Network Sample;

---Ah, so that’s how this thing works! Here I thought it was just an ugly ornament they stuck on us.

Let’s see now~ Hey, is there anyone out there listening? [A pause, before she grins widely, peering at the camera a little too closely that the focus seems to shift on her eye. After a while, she pulls back, the grin still in place.]

So, I’ve got a question. Since we’re stuck in this weird place, doesn’t that mean there are a lot of strong guys out here? I heard there was a war happening or something. [Details weren’t really all that important to her, not with this topic to focus on.] Then if we help out, that means we’re going to fight even stronger enemies from now on, right?

If that’s the case, I’m in. I bet this way, I can get even stronger.

So don’t disappoint me, okay, gods?

The title is a lie. No one ever asks these questions. THIS IS NOW JUST A RANDOM QUESTION POST.

TENTATIVE COMMUNITY NAME: cumulofaring, stratofaring, cirrofaring, altofaring

GENERAL
What is Niente?

Niente literally means "Nothing". Originally the world began with absolutely nothing, not even a name. It is a place that is suspended in the middle of nothing. Time that flows here doesn't affect anything outside of the world, and it cannot be found in any known land. However, one of the foreigners that had visited in the past coined the name in passing, and it has since been used to name the world that they live in.

No one knows how or why, only that at some point, people began existing in that world and soon, even the surroundings started building up. Land, water and air were conceived from this nothingness, and even the rest of life started appearing. However, everyone who has been to Niente agreed that it seems to be a manisfestation of things that exist in other places rather than something that originates from the world itself. The creatures and plantlife they have can be found in other worlds, and even the things they eat, wear or use are similar to things that already exist. Eerily enough, no one knows how new people are born either. They just appear one day, and sometimes foreigners may comment that they look like someone they've met in passing before, even if they aren't exactly the same.

How does communication work?
How does posting work?
How does time work?
How do languages work?

Niente doesn't have a universal language. However, what it does have is a universal understanding of languages that is separate from the protection seal. So all characters would be able to understand each other despite language barriers. (i.e. One character may be speaking Chinese and the other speaking Thai, but they will both be able to understand each other perfectly.) Some words may not translate too well during conversations, causing some inability to understand words. (i.e. Cloud and France may be talking when this happens, resulting in Cloud not understanding France while he is speaking in French despite being able to earlier for a few seconds.) This happens because of errors in Bach's system causing hiccups in conversations. This may happen more frequently for some characters than others, and can sometimes affect large groups of people, making them all unable to understand some words at the same time.

So basically:

Character A: Hey man, lend me a towel?
Character B: Sure, here you go!
Character A: Oh, and hold-up ito, bigay mo sakin pera mo.
Character B: ... What the hell did you just say?
Character A: Nothing! I said thanks.

What are Protection Seals?

Protection seals are sort of an invisible force field you gain when you first enter the Gateway, whether accidentally or purposely. They were created by Sunny's grandfather in order to ensure that all foreigners would be kept safe from harm while they are in Niente. However, they can only be used once per visit, and when it breaks, they need to leave Niente in order to reset the seal. As this is not applicable in the current game timeline, the protection seal can only be used once in Niente.

What are the benefits that go along with having a protection seal?

One-time revival from death
Faster healing abilities (i.e. Some wounds that take a week to heal may only need half a week to recover.)
Slightly elevated senses
(to be added when I have ideas)

How does death work?

You can only die a total of two times in Niente. During the character's arrival through the Gateway, a protection seal is always placed on characters on the off-chance that they get into an accident or worse during their stay. This seal gets reset each time they leave the world. However, as none of the characters are able to leave the world, the seal can only be used once. When they first die in Niente, the seal gets broken and they are revived and completely healed in a week. However, the second time they die, it becomes permanent, which can also double as an OOC drop for the character.

Note:
For first deaths, any benefits that comes along with the protection seal is removed from the character.
Second deaths need mod approval.

How does the Activity Check work?

There will be activity checks made during the last week of each month. Activity checks will be composed of 10 comments in total, and can be a combination of the following:

Two threads in either cumulofaring or stratofaring or a combination

One post in cumulofaring and One thread in either cumulofaring or stratofaring

One post in stratofaring and One thread in either cumulofaring or stratofaring

Note: Some major plots may require you to provide more activity in order to take a bigger role in the plot.
Scene 1: Yuuta and Ryoga

It was starting to become a daily routine, enough of one that Irie had to wonder if perhaps Ryoga was a masochist in his own right. Not that he had much of a choice in cards right now, since he barely even had ten in his hand, but still…

He seemed to enjoy nearly getting skewered by arrows every single day.

Irie stepped to his left to narrowly avoid getting hit by one, watching his friend endlessly provoke his rather hotheaded partner. The Arrow card, one who had almost immediately told them to call him Yuuta, had been hard enough to catch before due to his nasty temperament, but it seemed like he was always downright murderous whenever he was summoned by Ryoga. It was certainly a big difference from their first meeting, where he had seemed charmed by his pretty words at that time. That was the only time he’s ever seen the card smile.

Now though, the angry scowl on his face was more prominent than ever as he crossed his arms and glared at Ryoga, while the newly appointed card captor just smiled back rather impishly.

“Could you stop summoning me already?” Yuuta huffed, finally settling down as he continued to practically bristle at him, far from amused. He had to admit, he did see the charm in trying to rile up the card, given he had such animated reactions. It was obvious either way that for all of his temper, he’s never actually tried to hit Ryoga. He’d shoot at him, but his aim was good enough that he shouldn’t be missing the guy so much.

Not quite honest, if he had to say, and that was rather amusing.

Ryoga, for his part, decided to finally come up to Yuuta and pat him on the head, a large, mischievous grin on his face.

“Aren’t you a ray of sunshine today? I see you’re still doing badly with your aim, Yuu-chan!”

The next moment, another set of explosions filled the air as Yuuta tried harder to actually maim him this time.

Reine vs. the Cat

The thing about silence was that it’s always meant to be broken.

Reine just wished that it wasn’t because of what she had dubbed as ‘the stalker cat’. She nearly jumped out of her seat at the first meow of the night, the scream almost leaving her before she thought better about it and just stared at the screen of her monitor, the side of her lips twitching slightly in annoyance. It wasn’t that it was a bad cat or anything. It was probably even a nice pet to have around if she owned it. It’s just that it never failed to catch her off-guard each and every single time.

She could already predict the pattern, how that first meow would give way to a few more, or how it would increase in volume for every second that passed. There was always a faint rumble that went along it, as if it was calling for a mate, though she never really understood what kind of mate a cat expected to find in a house where there was not a single feline and too many canines for its own good. Then there would always be a moment of silence, nearly five minutes of blissful silence, before it started again, this time practically shouting out each word, elongating them to the point that Reine was certain that her new arch nemesis was doing it to annoy her.

Not that she can prove that, but one does tend to fall into their delusions far too easily.

The thirteenth meow was the limit of her patience that night, and she quickly stalked out of the room to deal with the situation. Striding past the living room and towards the balcony, she quickly searched for the offender of her senses, wanting to see if she can catch the culprit tonight. It never went past the fences, only on the rooftop of her neighbor’s house, positioned closest to the window of the room she always worked in. She might have been too slow though, because as soon as she got there, the cat was gone.

Perhaps this time she could have the peaceful night she wanted.

Ten minutes later, when she was seated nicely in the room getting ready to go about her business, the predicted meowing starts again. This time, she doesn’t hold back the scream.

Sheena, Tir

Somehow, it didn’t surprise him anymore that they always got in trouble when women were involved.

Tir had to bite back a sigh as he knocked another rabbit down, the axe flying past him easily to hit the wall instead. Sheena himself was rather occupied with trying not to be overwhelmed by three rabbits at one time, forcing Tir to make his way over to assist him. The woman in question, the one who seemed to be the cause of all this, had ran away earlier after luring them into the trap. Leave it to Sheena to actually follow a woman who feigns interest in him too. Had Tir not spotted him, he’s quite sure the tables would’ve been turned by now.

In the end, the enemies were too weak to be a real threat, and Sheena had at least apologized--- in his own way--- about getting him into trouble. The walk back to the village had been good, with Sheena telling him of his exploits while Tir listened on quietly, occasionally giving his own input. Of course, the tranquility of the moment was shattered the moment they returned to town, with Sheena gearing up to talk to the young daughter of the inn’s owner.

The same inn they were going to stay in.

“No.”

“Oh come on, I just want to--”

“No is no, and that’s final.”

“But she--”

“Sheena.”

That had shut him up, and Tir happily led the way back to their quarters, pleased to know that they might finally get some rest today. After all, it was more likely than not that by the next day, another girl’s going to get them in trouble again and they’ll just repeat the whole cycle. Just another typical day in their lives.

Flynn, Rapunzel

Days with Rapunzel were rather unpredictable. Not that he was complaining about it.

You’d think, given he wasn’t much into the high life, he’d get sick of living in the castle after a few days. However, on their first day there, he spent much of the time being dragged around by his new wife, who had been quick to chat up every maid she meets enthusiastically. It had been tiring, and he wasn’t quite sure how she got the energy to run around the whole day when he could barely stand at half, but she was happy and that was all that mattered.

The following days were no different, and she never seemed to run out of things to be delighted about. The paintings , the garden, the chambermaid’s son, the little duck family that ran across every morning—the list went on and on until he forgot to keep track of the days he spent in the castle. Days that turned into weeks, and weeks that turned into months. If it wasn’t inside, she was pulling him out towards the city, where men and women of every age and size came along to talk to them. It was downright exhausting, and he never expected to find himself surrounded with such flurry of activity that didn’t involve stealing like this--- especially not daily.

But it was always by the end of the day, when they were both resting and Rapunzel slept beside him that he enjoyed the most. If there’s one thing he could always count on, it was that despite all the unpredictable ups and downs of everyday life, the predictable little smile that curled on her lips at night would always stay the same.

Yuuta, Marui, Gingerbread Cookies

It was better than he expected, especially given his experience with baking was non-existent until about an hour ago. Sure, he might have learned a bit about cooking because of his sister, who had no issues teaching him how to make spicy curry for his brother when they were still young and naïve, but they were entirely different in his opinion.

For one, he preferred the scent of the cookie batter much more than the different spices they stuffed in the curry his brother seemed to like so much.

It actually smelled decent, though he supposed Marui did know what he was doing despite the number of times Yuuta fumbled in the process. He wasn’t quite sure what possessed him to join the Rikkai player in the kitchen that day, though he supposed complete boredom and the lack of a decent gaming console had something to do with it. If Marui minded the intrusion, he never showed it, except maybe for a raise of eyebrows and the blowing of his bubble gum. He had been amiable enough too, even insistent on teaching him the dos and don’ts of the kitchen. His friendly and cheerful nature was a big contrast to the type of personality he had imprinted on his mind about the people of Rikkai, who seemed a tad too serious normally. Marui was rather animated in his own way, and his love for sugar almost rivaled Yuuta’s, given they both were quick to agree that more sugar isn’t a bad thing when it came to cookies.

It was nice having someone who agreed with him on that. Mizuki always did hate it when Yuuta added anything more than half a spoon of sugar in his red tea.

There was a point where the cookies were forgotten in favor of tomfoolery, where Marui would clap his hands on Yuuta’s face to imprint flour-covered handprints on him, and where Yuuta would retaliate by swiping a bit of butter on the bridge of the redhead’s nose. By the end of it they were both a complete mess and were laughing rather heartily, finally done with their new kitchen project: Gingerbread cookies.

It matched the holidays at least, even if his little army looked more like constipated old men rather than soldiers ready to face the battle in the oven.

He had to admit baking wasn’t half-bad, especially when all they had to do was put the tray into the oven and wait for it to be ready. He would die if Shuusuke or Saeki ever caught him in an apron though, especially with a tray of cookies in hand. Or at least, he’d crawl into a cave and never show himself again, because his brother wouldn’t ever let him live it down.

The best part of it, he decided, was when they finally got the tray of mouth-watering treats out of the oven, both of them taking a piece each once it cooled down to nibble on. After all, if the fruit of his labor always tasted that good, then he wouldn’t mind doing this all over again, especially with his new friend.

Maybe next time he’ll ask him if he can help again.

Kratos, Razette

Right. Left. Turn. Right. Left. Turn.

The pattern was repetitive and simple enough to memorize, and Kratos had quickly learned it while he followed her lead. Razette seemed pleased by the development, her humming getting louder as they danced to the sound of her music. The height difference made it tough at first, Razette being almost half his size when she had legs instead of a tail, but they made do with what they could. Kratos had a hand on her shoulder while she held on his waist instead, both of them having threaded their fingers together as they moved.

It was easy enough to forget that they had company.

There was a time where he wondered if this was what it was like to have a daughter. Razette was no different to a child to him after all, especially with her wide-eyed curiousity and unending enthusiasm when it comes to anything and everything. Her bright smiles always made it easy for him to give a small smile in return, and she was quick to tell stories of her discoveries with wild gestures, words still eluding her until now. She was the type of person who would sing with all her heart to make others happy, and she always wore her emotions on her sleeves. He was aware that she looked up to him as someone she could depend on, often times seeking comfort in his presence. That small stature and innocence made it easy to want to protect her, to watch her grow into a young lady. The dance itself felt somewhat like a symbol, that when the music stopped, he’d have to let her go, like a father sending his daughter off to marriage. There were things he couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to teach Lloyd after all, even if he had spent more time with him instead of---

But this wasn’t the time for those thoughts.

The tempo starts to slow down as Razette’s humming comes to an end, and he almost missed the wistful look on her face when they finally halted. It was obvious, as most of her reactions were now that he could read the subtleties better, that she wanted to continue on. Still, they had an audience, and even she wasn’t immune to the shyness that came along with performing in front of strangers. He doesn’t say anything to that, only squeezing her hand ever so slightly to reassure her before they finally leave the center of the crowd, letting the next pair take their place.

Right. Left. Turn. Right. Left. Turn.

It was an easy dance, and sometimes he thought it would be nice if it could last a little longer.

Hatsuharu, Zen

The first time they met was an accident.

Hatsuharu had gotten lost while trying to get to the bathroom. In fact, he got so lost that he ended up in a different place altogether, filled with trees and bushes and itchy things he wasn’t too fond of. He had tried to figure his way back, but that ended up with him getting even more lost, and by the end of the day he was certain there was no way he can continue on without the sun at least illuminating his path.

He wasn’t too worried about it, of course. It’s not like there was anything that would eat him out here, right? Though he supposed being a cow in the middle of the forest in itself was odd, but he can’t control it when there was a lady running into him before he could react.

It was while he was searching for a place to sleep comfortably, as the paths had too many things in the way that he stumbled upon a large pond with a bird standing in the middle of it.

Black and white: Just like him.

He had thought then that he made a pretty bird.

Zen, having been spotted, froze in his position, eying him warily. After all, it wasn’t always that a cow would stumble upon him in the middle of the forest. They had taken up a long staring contest after that, both of them unsure about who should make the first move, before Hatsuharu decided to break the intense gaze in an attempt to drink.

It was only after that that Zen learned he got lost. By the time morning came around, Hatsuharu had finally found his way back to his home thanks to Zen, and they both promised not to speak of the meeting again. Zen, because he had let go of a human instead of consumed him as he had no interest in that, Hatsuharu because he owed him for at least helping. Somehow, he can’t help but feel that they were pretty similar with each other, and not just because of their lack of colors. Ever since then though, he could never seem to shake the memory of the bird in the pond from his mind. It dulled and sometimes got buried under all the issues that came along with being a part of his family, but it was never truly gone.

It would only be later on when he meets Zen again, this time the human with tattoos that formed a wing on his back and a temper that rivaled the Cat’s, that he would be instantly reminded of the graceful bird in the pond that was nothing like him, and yet at the same time was everything that was him.

Saeki, Yuuta, Christmas Cookies

At the age of ten, Koujirou decided that sometimes it was hard to be friends with the Fujis.

Not that he was complaining. Not really. It was just that being friends with them meant that whenever Yuuta was angry at Shuusuke for whatever reason, (no doubt being Shuusuke’s fault for testing the younger boy’s very limited patience), he had to be the one to try to calm him down. It kind of went hand-in-hand with being the guy Yuuta would run to whenever he’s ‘running away’ from home. He only really ran away once, but then the fact that he had worried his family that badly made him feel guilty enough that he designated a place where he can run away to without them worrying too much.

Which was why for the third time this month, Koujirou found himself dealing with a sulky Yuuta on his bed. On Christmas Eve no less, which was a first. It had something to do with spicy food again, though he wasn’t sure he wanted to know all the details. It usually ended up with a headache anyway. Besides, Yuuta didn’t seem to be in the mood for talking either, so it wasn’t like he’d learn much.

Luckily, this time he actually had something that might cheer him up.

Ten minutes later found them both nibbling on cookies, careful enough not to let the crumbs fall on the sheets lest they want to face Koujirou’s mother’s wrath. She was normally nice, but she hated messy places and was even harder on Koujirou and his friends when it comes to keeping everything clean. The cookies were meant for the next day, but his mother relented the moment Yuuta entered the house and said she'd just make a new batch later. It was a slow progress, Yuuta having been stubborn in trying to stew in his annoyance. However, he knew Yuuta well enough to know that the cookies were sweet enough to appeal to his tastes, perhaps a lot sweeter than what Koujirou would prefer eating, and that he would eventually loosen up and indulge in it instead. Predictably enough, Yuuta was already smiling after his third cookie, focusing on the sweets in his hands as they started talking about anything that wasn’t involved with his problems earlier. It wasn’t until an hour later that Yuuta’s mom came along to pick him up, the leeway given to make sure Koujirou had enough time to pacify him so he wouldn’t be throwing a tantrum before he left.

He sometimes felt a little cheated at having to do all the dirty work, but then it was hard to take it to heart when he knew Yuuta would brighten up because of him and that Shuusuke would be really grateful that he was there to help him with his messes. Sometimes, it really was tough being friends with the Fujis, but he can’t say he really minded.

Hugo, Caesar

There were some moments when Caesar didn’t think that the freezing temperature of winter was bad, even if he’d probably hate it on a normal basis. One example of that, of course, was being the moment where Hugo looked like he’s losing a battle against a snowman.

As it was, the Karayan was failing at hiding his annoyance as the snowman refused to stay up, opting instead to collapse on the ground repeatedly each and every time he rolled up enough snow to pile on top of it. The warmth of his body, a side-effect of his own true rune, sometimes melted the snow far quicker than it should, resulting in Hugo giving Caesar wide puppy-dog eyes, pleading for help. Not that it ever worked, because that involved too much work in a department he probably sucked at more than Hugo did. Still, he enjoyed watching him play around in the snow while he himself hung out inside the castle, watching him from the nearby window with a cup of hot chocolate in hand to make sure he doesn’t somehow magically get lost while building the sloppiest snowman.

If someone told him a year earlier that his general would be a clumsy child who can't even make a decent snowman, he'd have probably told them they were being an idiot. Not that he actually minded, especially since he chose his general and not the other way around. He knew of Hugo's potentials after all, those that were far greater than his less than admirable snow-sculpting skills.

It took Hugo ten more minutes before he finally gave up, sulkily entering the castle in order to make his way towards Caesar. The strategist doesn’t think twice in sliding the second mug of hot chocolate towards Hugo, earning a grateful look from the Flame Champion as they settled down in order to warm themselves up. Not that Hugo really needed it, given his body temperature was a lot higher than anyone else’s in the castle, enough that he didn’t even need gloves for the winter cold. Still, he seemed happy enough with it, and as long as it pleased the Flame Champion, he’s got no issues with it.

Sooner or later, he knew that the bar they were in would be filled with the hustle and bustle of castle activities, and no doubt he would have to retreat to his quarters to avoid the noisy crowd. Hugo might go back outside to try making yet another snowman, most likely to be thwarted again by his own rune. Right now though, he was content with the warm mug in his hands and the animated chatter of his companion, deciding that winter isn’t so bad sometimes.

Ittoki dancing

Ittoki’s dancing was very similar to his singing. He was clumsy but enthusiastic, and though he didn’t have the best skills in the group, he made up for it with energetic movements instead. Sometimes he got reprimanded for lacking in refinement, making him rub the back of his neck sheepishly and try again. Other times he gets praised for being able to get the crowd to join him, making him work harder to make sure everyone has fun.

So it doesn’t really come as a surprise to anyone when they stumble upon him dancing under the rain to the sound of music only he seems to know, soaking wet and singing rather loudly. Tokiya had been quick to scold him, telling him it was dangerous to be out in the storm let alone dance there, but Ittoki had wasted no time in tugging him along and twirling him around and trying to get him to join him. Haruka had stared, unsure what to do with Natsuki moved forward to join them, dragging along Syo before he could protest.

The lack of any semblance of rhythm in the impromptu dancing forced Masato to join them, and it wasn’t long before Ren pulled Nanami along so they wouldn’t be the odd ones out. And though everyone eventually returned to the dorms later, soaked unnecessarily to the bone because of a certain redhead, they were quite content. Before they realized it, they had gone along with the whims of the least skilled member of their group, or perhaps the most skilled in areas they themselves didn’t realize.

After all, where Ittoki lacked in technique, he made up for emotions. Where he lacked in skill, he made up for enthusiasm. Where he lacked the shame for dancing in the rain, he made up with getting everyone to go along with him. While he still gets scolded later on for getting everyone sick, it doesn’t stop him from doing it all over again when he gets the chance. After all, his dancing is a reflection of his music, and his music was never one that can be pulled down just like that.

Moe Zen

There was a point in time where Kubinashi could say that Zen was well… cute. Not the type of cute where he was physically attracted to the demon, but the type that was similar to puppies and little kids. Not that Zen would appreciate it now if it was ever mentioned, as then it would probably cause some sort of poisoning from him. Either that or he’d laugh, but that’s if he was in a good mood instead. He was never very good at keeping his temper in check.

Either way, point being is that at some point in time, he remembered him being cute.

He’s not quite sure when he changed--- possibly when Master Rikuo was still young and mischievous, often playing pranks on the other demons of the household. Zen had been rather aloof that time, always helping him get out of trouble by making excuses for him. He would always teach him about the different types of poisonous plants littering the household, which ones he should and shouldn’t eat. Before that time though, Zen had been younger and more prone to watching them curiously from behind his father, having yet to be afflicted by the curse of his Fear. It was also the time when Kubinashi’s own temper had been hard to reign in, as the Second Nurarihyon was prone to trying to drive him crazy with his sudden disappearances.

Zen had been more timid than anything else, shying away when he was left alone by his father with Kubinashi in order to attend the meeting. After all, proud as the clan was, they were still weak demons, more so when they can’t even defend themselves with their poison. He was still too young to receive his Fear, the same protection that is ironically the reason for the Zen Clan’s short lifespan. More often than not, Kubinashi lost him in the household whenever he switched to his bird form, hanging out in the backyard where no one recognized him. Kubinashi had searched for him for a while before he spotted him crouched by the base of a tree, studying a mushroom with the intense look of someone who knew just what they were looking at.

When he had asked him about it, Zen had been reluctant to answer at first. Kubinashi could admit that during that time, he probably scared more than enough children with his less than pleasant personality. Still, with enough patience and coaxing, something he had to force out because this was still one of the clan heads’ son, he finally got him to talk about it. He started out rather quietly; almost too quiet that Kubinashi had to float his head nearer to him to hear him. After a while, he became rather animated and enthusiastic, spouting out terms about the type of poison it had and comparing it to other plants he doesn’t think he’s ever heard of, and soon enough he couldn’t stop the child from talking at all. It was cute in a way that he was so happy while he was explaining.

Then Rihan just had to have gone missing before the meeting, most likely off to who knows where, and Kubinashi wasted no time cursing up a storm in front of the child before going off to find him. When he did find him with the child in tow, he wasted no time in berating him to the point that his voice cracked as Rihan just let it slide past him.

Now that he thought about it, maybe Zen had taken up the bad habits from his past self.

Either way, that was the only time he could ever remember seeing him so cheerful and bashful at the same time. The next time they had visited was when Zen was an adult who had taken over his father’s position, teaching Rikuo about the same things. Gone were the shy and awkward moments where he’d hide behind his father’s legs at the sight of a stranger, and here was someone who was hardened with the reality of his Fear. Days spent with Rikuo seemed to have melted the icy exterior only to be replaced by cocky enthusiasm and a devotion that rivaled most of the clan members’, and while he couldn’t say he was ‘cute’ in the same sense as when he was a kid, he can’t say he completely dislikes the change either.

Shiraishi, Yuuta, Mistletoes

Yuuta had given him a look. Just a look; and Shiraishi smiled back in response, as if there was absolutely nothing odd about the situation. After all, it wasn’t like he was the one who decided to have his bandaged arm completely donned in mistletoe, right?

Okay, he had to admit it was weird, but it was a good joke--- even if it wasn’t his idea. He was going to have to talk to Chitose about tricking Kintarou into believing that adding the normally toxic ornament would somehow negate the effects of his ‘poison’ arm. It was his job to fill his head with messed up information about himself to keep him in line, not Chitose’s. Still, Kintarou had believed him and soon enough he had an arm full of mistletoe, making it admittedly tough for him to remove them all on his own.

He suspected superglue was used at some point, and there were so many of the ornament that he couldn’t even begin to find the start or the end of the bandage. So when Yuuta had entered the room intending to help out, the text message Shiraishi had sent him earlier sounding suspiciously worrisome, he had given him a look for the predicament.

He really can’t blame him for this.

“How did you even---“

“Kin-chan.”

“Ah.”

Yuuta strode over to him right after that, plucking one off gently and handing it to Shiraishi as he planned the best way to remove all of them without leaving any scars. Shiraishi, for his part, lifted the little fig above them to inspect it a little better, pondering whether or not to add it to his collection. It was the real thing too, not the type of decoration you find in the department stores. He really had to wonder where Kintarou got those.

It only occurred to him seconds later that they were both under the mistletoe.

“Hey, Yuuta-kun?”

“Hmm? What is---?” Whatever Yuuta was about to say was cut off almost immediately by lips pressing against his, making him lose any mental functions for two whole seconds before he turns bright red in response, sputtering in surprise when Shiraishi finally pulls away with an amused smile, the barest hint of sheepishness present. Whatever Yuuta wanted to say was lost on his tongue, especially when he was still trying to process what just happened.

"Ec~stasy."

“… You are horrible, you know that?”

“That bad, huh?”

“Yes! I mean no—I mean… I don’t know!” He whined, the red still tinting his cheeks as he fiddled with yet another piece of mistletoe. Given he hadn’t stormed off like he usually would, Shiraishi decided to take that as a good sign. “…Not really?”

“A kiss for every piece of mistletoe then?”

“...You do know there’s like fifty of these, right?”

And he just smiled while Yuuta rolled his eyes and continued working, muttering something under his breath about being surrounded by sneaky jerks. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all.

Ittoki, Tomochika

If there was one thing Tomo can be sure about, it's that Ittoki never fails to entertain. After all, the guy wore his heart on his sleeve like a badge, and it was hard not to notice the obvious crush he had on Haruka. Not that he was the only one, seeing as there were five other guys who seem to be battling for her hand (in composing music, they say, but she highly doubted it sometimes), but he was the most obvious about it.

So it caught her by surprise when he asked her out on Christmas instead, face flushed--- whether due to the cold or otherwise-- and eyes wide with anticipation and maybe some nervousness. She had been getting ready to give her roommate and best friend some space to hang out with the boys, though it looks like one of them decided not to join the usual group this time around. To say she was caught off-guard was an understatement; she never imagined this, period.

She had been ready to say no, that she wasn't interested (and didn't he like Haruka, not her?), but that would have been a lie. She knew of Ittoki's many good traits after all, and found them rather endearing. How honest he is, or how he's always trying his best for others were just some of those she's learned to admire. He was a funny guy too, and it wasn't like he was bad-looking either.

The fact that he went through the trouble of carving up the words "Please go out with me, Tomo-chan!" on the snow for her to see that morning was rather endearing in a bizarre way. Embarrassing yet sweet, and she couldn't help but laugh as she poked his forehead, telling him in jest that it was overkill, but the blush never faded from her cheeks.

In the end, she said yes. After all, dating Ittoki would be rather entertaining, even if it was for all the different reasons this time.

Ittoki, Rise, Christmas Eve

She had let out an undignified squeal when she felt the snow pressed against the back of her neck, earning a loud laugh from Ittoki. Rise pouted at that, scooping up some of the snow and dumping it over his head, causing him to squawk loudly in protest. Behind them, they could easily hear the festivities of their friends, merry-making on Christmas Eve before midnight could strike and gifts could be exchanged. Not that they were paying attention to the time, too busy trying to outwit each other in the snow as opposed to actually having a snow fight.

There was a short pause as Ittoki reached over to Rise, smiling softly as they both tried to catch their breath. After all, it’s been quite a while since they’ve been at it, and the fatigue was starting to catch up to them. His thumb brushed past her cheek as he caressed it lightly, earning a small blush from her.

“Ne, Rise-chan…” He starts, fumbling for a moment and feeling slightly self-conscious, to which she replied with a curious look. He takes a deep breath at that, nervous, before he leaned in closer, lips ghosting over hers for a moment.

“Merry Christmas.”

And when midnight struck, they shared their first kiss.

Choutarou, Shishido, First Kiss

He wasn’t quite sure how it started, or why it even did. All he knew was that one moment he was laughing with Shishido-san, both of them huddled close by the fireplace to keep warm, and the next moment he felt it--- short, clumsy and awkward, the press of lips against his in a brief second before Shishido pulled away and excused himself, mumbling something about getting a drink. Not that he got very far, not when Choutarou’s hand instinctively reached out to grab his wrist and gently urge him back down, mind kind of stuck on the event.

It had something to do with mistletoes, he recalled. They were all over the house, his sister having been overzealous with the decorations, and more often than not both of them had to be careful with not going in any place together lest they both becomes victims of it. He remembered agreeing it was lame; he wasn’t too keen on forced public displays of affection after all. There was a mention of a girl who tried it in class, he was unfortunate enough not to see it, and---

Was Shishido-san jealous of her?

He didn’t look at him, looked at everything but him and it made Choutarou feel like he did something wrong. But the kiss was something that caught him off-guard and he really didn’t think it was fair that Shishido-san didn’t even ask before---

“At least give me time to react.” He states after a period of silence, earning an incredulous look from the other. Shishido took one, two, three counts before he shakes his head, one hand moving up to cover the redness of his face as he tries to hold back the urge to laugh.

“Totally, seriously, super duper lame, Choutarou.”

“A-ah?! That’s cruel, Shishido-san!”

Any protests he had afterwards? Gone now, especially after Shishido-san rolled his eyes and eventually came back, and this time giving him a proper first kiss.

Akaya, Shiraishi, Sneaking into rooms

It was way past midnight, and all he wanted to do was sleep and dream and hope he isn’t going to experience yet another Sanada-esque morning--- all work and training and barking that ended up with Akaya feeling more like he ran five marathons in ten minutes than he had in three lifetimes. So it came to a surprise to him when he felt the telltale signs of someone trying to wake him up.

It took him a record time of 2.3 seconds to jump up, screaming that he’s awake and attempt to stand up straight and look alert in fear that Sanada was going to hit him.

Only this wasn’t Sanada, but someone else. Heck, he was someone who isn’t even from Rikkai.

“S-shirais---?!” He doesn’t even get to finish that before Shiraishi attempts to shush him, and he vaguely remembered that he still has roommates to think about after all. Oops. Okay. He swallowed any and all words he was trying to form, nodding, though not quite sure just how asleep his roommates are after that loud scream earlier. It wasn’t like any of them were heavy sleepers.

Ten minutes later found both of them on Akaya’s bed, with Shiraishi ruffling Akaya’s hair as they whispered about ideas for another possible doubles match together. It was strange, a little, that Shiraishi continued to play with his hair (he did think he was kind of just trying to placate him when he said he liked his hair) but he found that he didn’t mind it at all and went along with it. Never mind that Shiraishi was a little too close for normalcy’s sake, or that at this proximity, even in the dark, he could see that the older teen had a really nice face, or---

“Ne, Akaya-kun. Can I kiss you?”

“Yeah, sur--- Wait, what?!”

The squeak he let out at that was a little too loud for comfort, but it was nothing compared to the one he released after that when Shiraishi did kiss him straight on the lips.

Two minutes and three pillows later, Shiraishi had been effectively kicked out of the room by his roommates with the need of pillow fights (Zaizen having muttered something about all of his senpais being idiots), while Akaya buried his face in his pillow, face red and heart pounding at the memory of the kiss. In the end, he decided sleeping it off would be the best idea, and this was something he could deal with in the morning when the memory of fingers brushing through his hair and lips against his didn’t make him as flustered as he was now.

Now, the reason I chose Odin over Baldr despite his arrogant nature comes mostly from the fact that Atobe—haughty as he is—is not completely from a selfish person. Yes, he focuses on himself a lot and hogs the spotlight, but he’s very generous to his friends and people he respects, and he’s not as self-serving as he seems to be at first glance. Odin fits him better because of the fact that he is an intelligent person, whether it’s books or his incredible insight towards people, particularly their weaknesses. He’s arrogant because he knows he’s good and he proves it, and his intelligence shows a lot when it comes to his mannerisms, grades and even his court presence.
Power; Ice Magic

Personality; Atobe, for the lack of better words, is what one would call an ‘Ore-sama’. He’s narcissistic, egotistical and flamboyant, always stepping into the spotlight before anyone could even stop him. He calls himself a King, and with good reason--- after all, he’s stupidly rich (i.e. in ‘Atobe’s Gift’, he had a whole festival, sport arenas, a makeshift mountain and other ridiculous things on a ridiculously large airship), he’s got the whole of Hyoutei following him, he’s the captain of the tennis team, the president of the student council, and at the raise of his hand he can make the crowd cheer for him.

“The winner will be Hyoutei, the winner will be Atobe.”

He came up with the cheer himself. In fact, he doesn’t even need a crowd sometimes, just the fact that he plays can generate it out of thin air as shown in the U-17 camp, where no one could figure out why they can hear the Hyoutei chant.

From the moment he stepped into Hyoutei, he had already begun his reign. On the first day, he told everyone to call him king, and he declared that he will change Hyoutei from inside-out so that they should make use of everything to the best of their abilities. True to his word, everything changed since he arrived, much to the delight and chagrin of the students. The canteens were turned to look like high-class restaurants, the auditorium looked like a movie theater, and even the gym equipments were upgraded to the latest models. Atobe is the type who knows what he wants and won’t stop until he gets it, even if he has to force his way through it. This includes declaring that he’ll be the captain of the tennis club, something that goes against their rules as he was only a freshman. This didn’t stop him anyway, as he challenged all of the regulars, stating that if he beats them, he’ll be captain. They agreed, losing spectacularly against him, and even after Shishido, Gakuto and Oshitari challenged him to a match, he still won all of them. If you challenge him, he’ll accept it, even stating ridiculous conditions like shaving his head if he lost to show his confidence in his abilities. This also extends to things outside of tennis, whether it’s forcing Shishido to take classes on proper table manners or reading poetry, or trying to get An to date him after he beats everyone in matches in the outdoor courts despite her protests.

“Be awed at the sight of my prowess!”

While he is haughty and arrogant, Atobe walks the way he talks. He’s extremely intelligent, talented and hardworking, and he’s the type of guy who values skill and dedication over everything else, enough to even make exemptions to the rules if he has to. This happens when he actually backs Shishido up, telling the coach that he hasn’t lost yet and he should be allowed back in the Regulars. He acknowledges the strength of his opponents and delights in challenging them. He’s multilingual, fluent in Japanese as well as German and Greek, the top of his batch in terms of grade, and is rather fond of reading Shakespeare. He is also skilled in fencing and ballroom dancing, most probably due to his upbringing. Alongside that intelligence is also his incredible insight, in which he can easily spot the weaknesses of his opponents in the form of ice shards. This makes him a very formidable opponent on the court, as he tends to aim for those blind spots often to render them immobile. This stems from his childhood, as he wasn’t always as good as they show. He used to be picked on a lot as a child because he was a foreigner who was considered bad at tennis, and then he learned to pick up on his opponents’ weaknesses and crush them. His insight continues to evolve as well, coming to the point where he can practically see the blind spots inside the other person’s body, including the limits of the joints and muscles that no amount of reaction could actually make them hit the ball. This appears during the U-17 camp, making it tough for Irie to battle him in a match. Had he not been injured, Atobe might have had the chance to win instead of getting a draw.

"Nobility resides in the mind, not in the blood."

Atobe pushes himself the hardest out of everyone. He believes that nobility is in the mind and not the blood, and to prove that he needs to show that he is deserving of the title of King. This is why he continues to train hard outside of practice, pushing himself until he evolves his abilities. This is shown once when he goes to Rikkai, considered the strongest school then, in order to challenge Sanada to a practice match. Even if he was losing at first, the continuous pressure on him made him develop World of Ice, his strongest insight at that moment that helps him see his opponent’s blind spots very accurately.

When playing, Atobe would usually play a defensive style of tennis and challenge his opponents to an endurance match. On the court, he likes toying around, sometimes to the point of being cruel like he does with Tezuka, aiming to injure his arm further until he is incapable of using it anymore. Even his signature moves can be harmful, like Rondo towards Destruction, where he would aim at the opponent’s wrist first to paralyze it, and then use a second smash to knock his racket off his hand. He’ll make sure to do whatever it takes to win. He’s far from considerate of his opponents and won’t likely give them an easy time, confident in his victory. However, when push comes to shove, he will switch to a more aggressive playing style (his original style) in order to win, something he’s only done with Echizen and Irie, and can elongate matches to the hundreds if he needs to. He is so dedicated to winning that even if he was unconscious, he’d still stand up in order to play a match--- even if he can’t anymore. That isn’t to say that he would despair if he lost. He’s pretty good at accepting his faults and losses, even when it requires him to do something embarrassing like lose his hair. In fact, he himself shaves it off when Ryoma attempts it after he lost their match, stating something like that wouldn’t destroy his beauty anyway. (He later gets a wig that looks exactly like his usual hairstyle to replace it.) Atobe acknowledges the strengths of others and tries harder in developing himself instead when that happens, vowing next time to turn the tables. In fact, he’s quick to praise strong players like Tezuka, and is able to gauge the difference in abilities between players rather easily with a look.

Despite his very arrogant and pushy nature though, he makes sure to take care of his team very well. As money is not a problem, he’s quick to treat his teammates to expensive things, whether it’s updated equipment in school or fancy meals that you only find in high-class restaurants. Their field trips include going abroad, usually European countries, all funded by him. This also extends to the rest of Hyoutei, as his initial reason for overhauling the school in the first place is to make sure they get the best of the best so that they will be the best of the best. He cares for his friends and his teammates in his own way, whether it’s to throw an extravagant party for Kabaji on his birthday (which he got wrong) to cheer him up, or accompanying Jirou while he slept despite everyone else leaving. He deals with them in his own way even when others don’t agree, like letting Jirou sleep during practice because he knows he’s a good player even without the daily training the others do. Even with Hiyoshi, he continued dragging him into an endurance match— Hiyoshi’s weakness at that time—in order for him to overcome the issue so he can focus on being the next captain of the tennis team. However, when others have legitimate complaints, he does his best to figure out a solution for it— like with Jirou, who he promised a match with Rikkai’s Marui if he stays awake during training. This eventually backfired, but it shows that he doesn’t just brush off other people’s concerns. He does make a good leader despite his attitude, and he has a lot of charisma that it was easy enough for him to win the hearts of his schoolmates. After all, one doesn’t get that kind of loyalty by riches alone, and even when he was losing, people still continued to cheer for him. He’s not so selfish either that he only looks out for himself as well, just like when he saves Tezuka in ‘Atobe’s Gift’ and gets injured in his place.

He can be a rather ridiculous person, probably because he’s so rich. In one of the omakes, he even goes to school by jumping off a jet and gliding down like Batman, only to find out it was Sunday. He doesn’t even seem remotely embarrassed by this. He drinks non-alcoholic in the bath everyday; and he even has a couch inside the student council office and chairman’s chamber office all for himself. His tastes in things are world-class and he doesn’t like settling for second best, including food, in which he even declares that he’s so used to high class meat that he can easily spot a fake from a mile away. He’s pretty brave too, or perhaps reckless, considering he drank the Inui-made coffee, which was 10x stronger than regular coffee, and froze on the spot due to temporary loss of consciousness.

Samples;
Network Sample;

Even the leader of the gods knows how to be awed at the sight of my prowess!

Though, the accommodations leave much to be desired. I suppose it could do as of the moment until I can find a more suitable household for myself. [A pause as he surveys his surroundings.] It’s no wonder that they need the presence of a king amongst them to fix this place up. Color isn’t the only thing that it lacks.

Ahn~ but it seems that it’s not a job one can do alone; especially stripped of everything they have been given. [He looks back at the feed at that, a smirk playing on his lips.] Don’t you agree with me?

[Not that he waits for an answer for that, as he is quick to continue his statement.] So I have a proposition for you plebeians. From today onward, you may address me as the King of Asgard! And in return, I will make sure to turn this place into a paradise for all of you. Whether it is god or man, it doesn’t matter. All of you can join me in making this a suitable kingdom.

And if you don’t think I can do it--- [He raises his hand above his head, fingers poised together.] --- then let the great me prove my abilities to all of you.

[Snap. Smirk. And behind him, even without a crowd, one may hear the faint sounds of cheering.

“The winner will be Hyoutei. The winner will be Atobe. The winner will be Hyoutei. The winner will be—“]

--Me. Don't you forget that.

He’s the type of guy who always looks out for others, making sure that they eat well or they wake up on time in the morning. He nags Kanata whenever he doesn’t listen or refuses to cooperate, especially when it comes to actually attending the many classes he skips. He’ll even go so far as pull him in a headlock (or threaten that he would) when he refuses to wake up. When Kanata and Yoh fight, he acts as a mediator in order to lighten the load on Tsukiko, who is usually the reason for the fighting whether she knows it or not. If his friends are hungry, he’ll borrow the school’s kitchen in order to cook them a fantastic meal. In fact, his cooking is so good that he sometimes uses it to threaten or bribe Kanata and Yoh when they fight, stating things like not cooking anymore if they only fight over his food, or offering to cook for them so they would be nice to each other. It always seems to work, as they will pretend to be okay with each other so he doesn’t follow through with it. In spite of the threats though, he enjoys feeding them because he likes seeing the happy faces of people who eat the meals he prepares. One could say that he’s the perfect husband material too, as he will make sure to spoil his partner rotten like he does his friends.

Suzuya always tries his best to uphold the image of the reliable friend, always seeming to know what he’s doing no matter what the situation. This stems highly from his desire to protect Kanata and Tsukiko, his childhood friends, and make sure to always watch over them. As a child, he did his best to learn how to cook just for them to make sure they’re never hungry when he’s around. When they’re lost, he’ll be the first to search for them. When there’s something they don’t know; he’ll do his best to learn it beforehand so that when they need the help, he’ll be able to teach them properly. (i.e. dancing, where he ended up with several scrapes while learning it the day before so that his friends can learn too.) He’ll listen to their problems if they wish him to, and he’ll even do his best to think of a good advice to help them out. However, because of this desire of his, he lived his whole life keeping his real emotions to himself, especially about his love for Tsukiko. Because he doesn’t want to destroy the balance that they already had as friends, he decided he can be content with just keeping his emotions to himself. When Yoh comes into their lives, he also had to hide his discomfort at the intrusion of their triangular friendship so that Tsukiko didn’t worry about it. Suzuya’s overprotective nature can be considered his greatest strength and biggest weakness as well, as it meant that if anything bad happened to them, he would straight up worry--- or in Tsukiko’s case, panic to the point of near-tears, even blaming himself for not noticing anything wrong with her when there really wasn’t. He can be considered too caring as well, as it’s because he does everything for them that Tsukiko and Kanata depends on him a lot and as Tsukiko admitted, they couldn’t even improve in their own cooking because they enjoy his too much. If he can, he’d spoil his friends as rotten as he could. Sometimes though, his caring can be suffocating, enough that he may end up saying the wrong things and cause issues. This happens when he kept insisting that Kanata needs to take care of himself, accidentally bringing up the topic of his sickness that caused them to have their first real fight.

He’s very sensitive to other people’s feelings and would immediately notice if there’s something off about his friends. When that occurs, he usually tries to isolate them so that he can talk to them privately, often with the intention of helping out in some way. Not that it takes a genius, according to him, as his friends are very easy to read. As much as possible, he would uphold the peace among them, which often leads to him being rather agreeable when people ask him to choose their side of the argument, being a little too easy when he sees no harm in it. He is a self-proclaimed pacifist and dislikes fights, though he won’t hesitate to punch someone who tries to harm his friends. This happens when Tsukiko looks for Suzuya, wanting to help Kanata when he was surrounded. Despite his gentle nature though, Suzuya can be downright frightening when provoked. When Kanata and Yoh prank him on April 1 by saying that Tsukiko collapsed, he had straight-out lost himself in panic, and was only calmed down when he was told it was a lie. After that, he had scolded Kanata and Yoh, scaring them out of their wits. They even said that his smile is scary when that happens, especially since his eyes aren’t smiling as well.

That isn’t to say that he can’t joke around though, as he was mostly angry because it was a bad joke and something he didn’t find funny at all. Suzuya himself can be rather impish, sometimes teasing his friends to rile them up as he does with Kanata often, or fluster them like he does with Tsukiko when he joins with Yoh and Kanata’s request to be fed food like lovers in a shoujo manga.

As previously stated, Suzuya is very considerate of other people’s feelings, enough that he will set aside his own when necessary. This occurs several times, whether it’s to keep his feelings for Tsukiko at bay so that they can all remain a happy trio, or telling Tsukiko in his route to simply forget his confession so that they can continue being friends, as he didn’t want to burden her any further than he already had. Because of this, it’s hard to tell sometimes when Suzuya is smiling sincerely or not, as he always keeps a composed façade even when he would rather lose it. Suzuya even confesses to Tsukiko in his route that he always feels flustered, but he keeps it to himself because he doesn’t want others to worry. It’s pretty rare to find him not composed, and when that happens, it throws his friend off a loop because they aren’t sure how to handle it. Also, while Suzuya may be good at handling other people’s problems, he is a stranger to handling his own problems. This becomes an issue when he ends up fighting with Kanata and saying something he feels he shouldn’t have, after which he wasn’t sure how to handle the situation and kept postponing talking to him for days. It came to the point that Yoh, tired of seeing the cold war between them, snapped and told them to make up with each other as they both had their rights and wrongs in the argument. Suzuya’s so used to having to take care of others that sometimes he forgets to take care of himself, whether it’s ending up with several cuts on his hands while learning how to cook or scraping his knees while trying to dance, or when he works himself up in his emotions that he wouldn’t know how to handle it.

As a lover, Suzuya is extremely possessive, and surprisingly a jealous boyfriend. If his route is chosen, he won’t hesitate to stop his friends from doing anything rude (joking or not) to his lover, and will even threaten them outright if they try anything funny. In After Spring, he even attempts to attack someone who tries to take Tsukiko away, not wanting anyone to lay their hands on her. While he won’t likely hurt people he likes, he still gives them a scary smile and is rather loose with threats, and he’s also pretty loose with his tongue--- more open to his feelings and thoughts, which can fluster Tsukiko often as he’s rather shameless when it comes to that.

Samples;
Network Sample; This is rather convenient, isn’t it? The powers, I mean, that seems to come along with the package.

Ah, I suppose it’s not so strange for everyone though. I heard that there were people here who came from worlds with much more competent magic than the one I have. Amazing, isn’t it?

I never would have expected that there would be such a thing as healing powers in reality. [There’s a brief pause as he chuckles at that, sounding pleased.] It’s a little weak right now, but it’s good for any paper cuts that we might get at least.

Mm, speaking of cuts--- I guess looking for a kitchen would be a good idea. It’s nearly dinnertime, isn’t it? [There was a brief moment of silence at that, as if it was sad, though the cheerfulness in his voice that follows makes it hard to say if that were the case.]

Well, I’m sure others are also hungry, not just me. If you want to join me for dinner, then I’d love to have you over.

He’s friendly, cheerful and easygoing, often teasing his best friend Daisuke no matter the situation. He’s a bit of what people would call a ‘troll’, sometimes getting a kick out of making others fluster or sputter in indignation or embarrassment. Despite his impish nature though, he’s a good guy who’d always make sure to have your back. Need help with training? He’s there to assist you whether it’s soccer or basketball. Need a snack but have no money? That’s all right; he’ll treat you to some ramen if he’s in a generous mood. Need help with getting over the fear of girls? He’ll whip up blind dates for--- okay, he’s not quite the most tactful person around when it comes to certain things. Sometimes it even causes him to fight with his best friend, especially when he’s trying to prove a point.

Kou’s pretty perceptive about things when it comes to his friends, and would try his best to help out if he can. This show a lot with Daisuke and Souji, especially Daisuke, when he points out that Daisuke wasn’t doing so hot with his soccer performance because he’s probably afraid of putting his all in anything lest he gets disappointed again due to his break-up with an old girlfriend. They ended up arguing about it, but eventually things worked out in the end. He cares a lot about his friends and will do his best to make time for them, even encouraging them to talk to him if they really had problems. He gets frustrated when other people aren’t honest with their feelings and try to keep it to themselves, especially when he can blatantly see it affecting their performance. In fact, if he gets fed up enough, he’ll do something about it whether or not the other party knows or approves. While his intentions are good, it’s not always that his method of choice is the same. This is how he ends up with dragging Souji and Daisuke to a blind date with three girls, only for Daisuke to lose his temper and leave.

However, he himself tends to keep things from others, especially when it comes to issues with his family. Not to say he won’t talk about them when asked by people he trusts, but he’s not the type to tell others of it until he’s certain he’s ready, which could take a really long while. Once he’s ready though, he’s quick to pour out his thoughts and feelings, and sometimes would make detailed plans about what he’ll do afterwards, like going back to the orphanage to ask about his parents or thinking of studying abroad so that he can do something for the family (this time of his own choice) even if he wasn’t the heir anymore. He’s not the type who’d want others to be worried about him, and he’d brush it off with light teasing or joking if he could help it. By this time in canon, he’s already reconciled with the issue he had with his family, which was feeling like he wasn’t important or loved anymore now that he’s not the heir to the family. Being an orphan, he had first felt annoyed at having to play a role of a polite future master of the household. After his parents gave birth to his sibling and now heir of the family, he had felt lost and wasn’t certain of his place in the family. He had been down long enough that it started to affect his interest in basketball, the one sport he loved more than anything, and it had taken Daisuke and Souji’s help for him to rekindle his desire for it.

Speaking of family, Kou has a different personality at home and in public. With his friends and classmates, he’s the cheerful and easygoing sporty guy with an impish side. With his family, he turns into a polite and serious guy, and he even implies that he speaks a lot more formally at home that outside. He’s considered a young master and has to remember a lot of traditional practice, similar to Yukiko’s, so often times he doesn’t feel right when he’s at home. However, he doesn’t live in the main house like the rest of the family, instead opting to live next to it.

Despite his tendency to keep things to himself, Kou isn’t the type to deny his issues when asked. He’s quite self-aware most of the time and doesn’t try to push away options that may be true about himself, and he’s not the type to get heated up if you accuse him of things he’s certain are true. In fact, he’s more likely to get riled up when others try to deny what he thinks is right in front of them, or when they are being half-assed in things they should be working harder on. He’s not very subtle as a person and he will be blunt when he feels like it, just like how he told Daisuke that he hasn’t been giving it his all during soccer practice in front of his own teammates, especially after Daisuke said he was just having an off-day when it wasn’t the case.

Kou isn’t very good at dealing with things that get too mushy or too headache-inducing, often times whining about it, letting his sarcasm roll about or teasing the other person until they get flustered. He’s the type to say what he wants out loud, including complaints, sometimes to the amusement of others. This includes the time when he outright declares that the exhibit of another class is cooler, and that making a play of Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet is pretty crazy because everyone dies. He has no problem with complaining about being called Kou-chan, and he even lets out a sarcastic “I love balls” when his teammates all ditch him so that he’d stay behind alone to polish basketballs. However, despite his attitude sometimes, Kou is a pretty dedicated and serious person, especially when it comes to basketball. He’s the type of guy who’d train really hard and work on it as much as he could, and if others were half as interested in it as he is, he’ll even do his best to train them on his own to make them even better. He’s also the type of guy to defend others, friend or not, when people are talking bad of them. This is shown when he stood up for Ai, telling the team to cut it out, after the guys started talking lewdly about her, and while she did hear it, the fact that he had defended her made her feel a lot better. When he wants something, he goes for it, even if it’s to the disapproval of his family or the surprise of his friends; basketball and going abroad being firm examples of this.

ABILITIES: Kou’s main ability is that he’s really good at basketball, which is also why he’s the captain of the basketball team. He’s a normal human being, so there’s nothing supernatural floating about him.

POSSESSIONS: Clothes

samples.
JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE: Okay dude, seriously. You could have at least given me a sword or something if you wanted me to play a game with monsters in them. What’s even up with that? This isn’t going to be something like that Hamlet meets Romeo and Juliet, right? I’m not even going to start with a bad ending.

Speaking of…

Hey, Daisuke! You there, man? Souji? Anyone? Don’t tell me I’m the only one they brought here. That’ll be pretty boring.

--- Well, actually. This place proooobably won’t be so bad. So all we gotta do is win this game, right? So, does anyone have any idea about how it works? Is there a rulebook for all this?

Oh, by the way, I’m Kou Ichijo. If I’ll be staying here a while, it won’t hurt to get to know each other. So yeah, please take care of me from now on, all right?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: For all of his bravado earlier, Kou had to admit he wasn’t feeling quite as hot as he made it sound like. After all, it wasn’t like one just gets used to the idea of being brought into what seemed like a virtual reality game gone wrong, and there were monsters to deal with.

He wasn’t kidding when he said he should have at least gotten a sword.

Still, it wasn’t as him he can do much about it right now. After all, what did he know about inter-dimensional travels and MMOs? They weren’t his forte, never were, and he’d be lying if he said he was actually ready to kick monster ass when it showed itself in front of him. Actually, he’d probably either freeze up or scream and run away if that happened, because how do you even deal with that? That would be kind of embarrassing though, especially if Daisuke saw. The guy would probably use it as blackmail material or something.

He sighed loudly to himself as he kicked a stray rock, feeling the irritation rising. If he had known polishing balls for who knows how many times by now would magically make him appear in this place, he would have made someone else do it. That is, if he can get them to sit long enough to actually do it. Some teammates he turned out to have. Souji might volunteer, but he wouldn’t exactly want to send him off to be eaten by monsters and everything.

Speaking of which, maybe he should start looking around. He might see a familiar face at least, though whether that’s lucky or not remains to be seen. It wasn’t like he had much choice anyway, and it’s better than standing here and waiting around for someone else to either deal with it or hand him the solution on a silver platter, complete with trumpets of glory and all those fancy effects you only see in old movies.

What he would give to shoot some hoops right now…

Oh right, people-searching. He quickly started walking before he could get distracted by his thoughts again, deciding not to think too hard for now. He could do it after he finds people. Provided, of course, he actually found anyone.

People now, well deserved mental breakdown later. Sounded like the best plan to him.

On relationship with Choutarou

Sob how do I even write this--- time to not use the shipping goggles

Shishido

Okay, back to basics. They're partners, and the best Doubles partners that Hyoutei has. They stuck together like glue ever since Shishido came back to the Regulars with Choutarou's help, and he's eternally grateful to him. Heck, a part of him still believes that he owes Choutarou a lot for that. However, the partnership is also something a little more than that. After all, not all doubles partners were that close, enough that they spent so much time together that they're practically joined at the hip. (Training after school all the way until midnight is one heck of a dedication too.)

First and foremost, Shishido is and will always be (or as long he still loved tennis like he loved breathing and cheese sandwiches and his dog) eternally grateful for Choutarou's help in a lot of things, but especially for getting him back on the Regulars. Sure, Atobe helped, and in a way Shishido grudgingly is grateful for their captain for that too, but Choutarou had not only trained with him for two weeks and actually went through his somewhat masochistic regimen by slamming balls towards Shishido again and again with his Scud Serve, he was also willing to actually be dropped from the Regulars if it meant Shishido gets to take his spot back. With Hyoutei's rule, that's pretty similar to jumping off a building--- it's reckless, and you can't have a second chance at it if the coach said yes. The fact that someone was willing to do that for him pretty much sealed the deal for him: This is a guy he can trust, a guy who'd watch his back, and someone he'll make sure to do the same for as well. He's someone Shishido can depend on, and while he doesn't approve of the whole self-sacrifice for his sake, it was a pretty good sign that he's a reliable junior and someone he would be considered an idiot for not appreciating.

Aside from that, he's also somewhat of a student to Shishido. Partially because it's in Shishido's nature to take care of others in his own way, and partially because he owes Choutarou enough to believe that at the very least he can help him improve his tennis, Shishido became his mentor in and out of tennis training often. He admires Choutarou's progress as if it was his own, because he knows he's got a lot of potential to be better and they work on that always, and often gives him tips or advices for those things. Choutarou probably is the person Shishido drives the hardest out of Hyoutei because he believes in his potential a lot, not only as his partner but also as a tennis player. He even helps him overcome his weakness in his Scud Serves and was damn proud seeing the hard work paid off. While Choutarou may be the guy with the killer serve, Shishido was still the more observant of the two on the courts and was pretty good at pinpointing the issues that needs improvement.

When it comes to Choutarou's timidness and sometimes kindness, Shishido tends to be hard on him because he doesn't want others to take advantage of it. He's very protective of the junior as he is with all of his teammates, just that it shows more with Choutarou because they're partners and he's always making sure to watch him first and foremost. That doesn't mean he thinks that Choutarou is weak or a pushover per se, because he knows that on the court, as long as Choutarou was confident, he can practically run his enemies down until they can't fight back--- especially when he's serving. Hell, he's even certain that between the two of them, Choutarou would probably win in a fight (not that he'd ever admit to this) because he's got the strength and height Shishido doesn't have.

What Shishido does worry about, both at home and in Johto, is that Choutarou would be too dependent on him. He's quite aware that Choutarou looks up to him as his senpai, and he's seen just how easy it is for Choutarou to choke when something catches him so off-guard he's not sure how to react to it. Heck, when he first arrived in route and got to Goldenrod, Choutarou had caught him completely off-guard with the hug and the declaration of missing him. He cares for his partner and does understand the sentiment, but he's not quite certain how Choutarou would fare if he goes away. He's never really said anything about it before that would cause enough concern for Shishido to approach him on the subject, but if the day comes to it, he'll probably sit him down and berate him about it.

On the plus side--- Shishido also thinks of Choutarou as a pretty cool guy, though not in the conventional sense. He knows Choutarou works hard for his goals, knows that he's always open to learning, and maybe Choutarou being so willing to listen to him also strokes his ego from time to time, but more importantly he knows that he's not the type to give up. If there's any kind of person Shishido can't stand, it's someone who gives up when things get hard. And Choutarou is trustworthy. He's someone he can goof around with, tell things to (even though he doesn't do that), and just someone he knows he can share little moments he'd consider as completely lame had it been with anyone else and Choutarou wouldn't take it against him.

Shishido doesn't always understand him, however. There are times when what Choutarou hints at baffles him and there are times when he would get really annoyed at him when he's dancing on subjects. He's quick to jump to conclusions when Choutarou doesn't tell him things, sometimes thinking it's something problematic (like Choutarou and Rise being awkward because of being in a non-existent past relationship) though he rarely pushes unless it actually affects his performance enough to irk Shishido.

Overall, Shishido adores Choutarou. He's the person he trusts the most in Hyoutei, someone who's got his back and vice versa, someone with a limitless potential for growth (literally and figuratively), talented, attentive and someone who's got the Hyoutei spirit through and through. While they don't always understand each other and sometimes don't see things eye to eye, Choutarou gives him the challenge he needs and in turn he gives him the training that he deserves in order to improve, like a good mentor-student relationship.

Yuuta and the Fuji Clan--- plus others

Note: This is just headcanon for me for the game ROUTE 29 in livejournal. Hopefully I can organize this into something more comprehensive next time.

Outlined below is my own thoughts of Yuuta's relationship with different people in canon, particularly the members of the Fuji family, Hajime Mizuki and Saeki Koujirou. This is mostly headcanon and should not be considered as official in any way <s>and why would you even lmao</s>

UNNAMED FATHER OF THE FUJI FAMILY

Yuuta doesn't remember much about his father. The man left to travel the world when he was still too young to even remember a lot, and all of the things he knows about him comes from what he's asked from his mother. His mom has always told him that he went abroad in order to work and thus left the family behind, and the way she describes him made Yuuta think of him as someone to admire. His impression of him is that he works hard, he doesn't let things hold him back when he wants something, and he is the type who knows that you need to make sacrifices in order to achieve things you need or want to do. In a way, the fact that his overly beautified image of his father is probably the reason he is as independent as he is, because he wants to be just like him, especially at a young age of five when everything just kind of impresses itself in his mind. Going off to St. Rudolph and living away from the family isn't so much a sign of rebellion as it is a sign of believing that if they can understand his father's reasoning, then they can also understand Yuuta's resolve. He doesn't do it out of spite, just out of what he believes is also best for himself, especially when it comes to beating Shuusuke in tennis.

In reality, however, his father had never had that kind of noble reasoning. He left simply because he wants to do what he wants regardless of whether the family approves or not, and he comes and goes as he pleases. His father leaving actually is pretty much a whole issue with the Fujis because breaking up the family like that screwed his older siblings big time. This causes a dislike from Shuusuke and Yumiko towards him because he's pretty irresponsible and can't be forced to stay and take care of his family, so they grew up dependent on their mother. As both of his siblings don't want to tell him anything about the man, he tends to believe only what his mother says about him. While he isn't going to say he has the best father in the world, the fact that his mother thinks so highly of him makes Yuuta think that his father isn't a bad man, and that stuck with him all the way until now. <s>This may cause him teenage issues down the road, but for now he's good.</s>

FUJI YOSHIKO (mother)

A lot of Yuuta's values come from his mother. While he doesn't share several of her traits, his siblings having taken after her tendency for secretive smiles and unusual patience and tendency to troll sometimes, he does get a lot of his values from her. For all of his short temper and impatience, Yuuta can be very understanding and accepting of people despite their faults. This mostly stems from his mother, who tends to explain things to him a lot and tries to get him to always see both sides of an argument. As a child, whenever he had issues that Shuusuke couldn't save him from, he'd cry and grump to his mother. Sometimes these issues could be about his siblings or his friends, and she'd patiently explain why they do what they do and insist he tries to forgive them each other. In a way, it makes him think in a more open-minded manner, in which he doesn't judge people by current actions and intentions, which makes it easier for him to forgive people like Mizuki who, despite having taught him a move that could break his shoulder, really did see him for himself and trained him to be as good as he is, and that was still worth noting.

While Yuuta doesn't quite adore his mother to the point of being a mama's boy, he does respect her a lot and definitely takes her advice to heart. He also somehow takes a part of his hardworking nature from her, because he sees how she takes care of all of them everyday and knows how diligent she is with her own work. Also faithfulness is something he takes after her, especially since she never filed a divorce despite the flakiness of her husband, and even tries to convince her children he's not as bad as the picture they've painted of him. With age and his sudden sour relationship with Shuusuke however, the relationship between them gets strained because of how similar his family members are with each other, and there was a time he tries to avoid coming home as much as possible despite his mother's insistence. Though this isn't as bad anymore when Yuuta started reconciling with the problems he had with Shuusuke, he does have a tendency to feel awkward and embarrassed now in going home during the weekends.

He has a good relationship with her though, and the fact that she's really understanding and doesn't try to hold him back despite her disapproval is something he appreciates. This in turn makes him try his best in school to show that she doesn't need to baby him anymore, and the dependent little boy who always had to rely on her comfort can and will in fact make her proud by showing that he's grown in his own way.

FUJI YUMIKO (eldest sibling)

Yuuta has a fairly good relationship with Yumiko. While his sister's predictions can creep him out with how accurate they are, he's never had any real issues with her except her tendency to do embarrassing things like Shuusuke does--- this includes clinging to his arm in public. However, despite that, he actually gets along with his sister more than Shuusuke. Yumiko is more understanding of things and tends to actually point out issues when they arise, even noticing things about Shuusuke that Yuuta doesn't. She's the most perceptive out of the three of them, probably because she's the eldest, and tends to play peacemaker when their mother isn't around. While he doesn't have that close a relationship with her, he does care about her a lot, enough to try his best to be thoughtful about the kind of gift to get her.

As Yumiko is closer to Shuusuke than to him, he doesn't really rely on her as much as thus their relationship is rather awkward on his side. He's not very open with her and he doesn't really tell her a lot of things, especially when most of the time she already seems to know them. However, he is more likely to tell her things that embarrass him than he is to Shuusuke, as he's certain that a.) She won't actually go through and embarrass him and b.) She's more secretive of the two.

He doesn't like that she dotes on him as much as everyone else does though.

FUJI SHUUSUKE (elder brother)

Complicated as hell.

The relationship with Yuuta and Shuusuke is rockier than Mt. Everest--- mostly because of communication issues.

When they were younger, they were the closest siblings possible. Shuusuke would always defend him when others bullied him, and he in turn completely admired Shuusuke and wanted to grow up to be like him. They even played a lot as kids with Saeki, and they can spend hours hanging out before they have to go home. The thing is, as a child, Yuuta had all the hero worship for Shuusuke, admiring the fact that he is so good at everything he does. Though Shuusuke has moments where he's failed hard (like releasing their pet rabbits and having the neighbor's dog murder them), he has never taken it against him before. For Yuuta, because Shuusuke is so good at what he does no matter what it is, he started working really hard to be able to be just like him. In a way, Shuusuke's natural genius inspired even more of Yuuta's hardworking nature at that time, because he's aware of the differences and he wanted to show he can be just like him too. Sure, Shuusuke could be a horrible troll and sometimes Yuuta would cry to his mother about it when his jokes get too much, but he still admired him nonetheless like a gullible puppy.

It all goes downhill when tennis got involved.

Saeki was the first to admire it, and Yuuta--- seeing as he also admired Saeki a lot--- thought that the sport was cool, and Shuusuke joined along because both his best friend and his brother were playing. The start of it had no issues; tennis was fun and they had fun and that was all that mattered. It turns rotten during a young people's tournament they decided to join in. Yuuta loses pretty fast and he sees almost immediately the difference in his skills compared to Shuusuke, who easily breezes his way through. However, because Yuuta loses early and Shuusuke was never as serious with tennis as he is, he dropped the game and said he would rather play computer games.

This turned out to be a horrible decision, because all that admiration he built up for his brother came crashing down when he realized this was a pity game. For him, Shuusuke dropping the game simply because Yuuta isn't playing anymore showed just how serious he isn't about things, and their relationship turns sour almost immediately. What he admired Shuusuke for was his skill and ability to do anything he wanted and do it well, but in turn it gives him no motivation and for a person like Yuuta who gives his all in everything he does, it was a big slap in the face to have that happen. it felt like his brother didn't respect him and made a fool of his hard work by showing that as a genius, he can easily disregard things that for Yuuta, he had to earn his way through. This starts to fuel a rivalry and a bitterness due to the idea that no, genius doesn't cut it and he will show that hard work is definitely better than that.

It doesn't help that people refer to him as the brother to the genius Shuusuke, and in time he develops a complete dislike for being compared to him. Rather than wanting to be like him as he did before, Yuuta suddenly wants to be so different from him, to prove he's nothing like that, that he won't just belittle things others really care about--- and he really did care about tennis. For him, being compared is a sign that people are saying because Shuusuke's a genius, Yuuta is a genius and he won't need to work as hard to gain what he wants. There's also the underlying belief that his brother simply doesn't care enough, which might involve overly dramatizing past mistakes and making them seem bigger than they are due to his bitterness, which doesn't help their relationship any. It turns sour enough that Shuusuke was quick to believe that as long as he doesn't prove he's nothing like Shuusuke, people will only see him as the little brother of a genius who doesn't need to work hard to be good, and thus he can't prove himself as himself--- a guy who has a lot of passion for tennis and actually works hard to prove it. He meets Mizuki, transfers to St. Rudolph, and focuses solely on the idea of beating his brother that everything else seemed irrelevant, including going home or making sure he's not destroying his arm or anything.

The fact that he openly distances himself from Shuusuke also strains their relationship further, and his own pigheadedness makes it impossible for him to understand Shuusuke's whimsical ways. What used to be things that were normal seemed to make no sense, and he considered any sign of whimsy as a sign of not taking things seriously enough. It's even possible that he looks for reasons not to like Shuusuke to strengthen his resolve, especially given that they got along so well when they were kids. It even comes to a point where Shuusuke's kindness and sincere wishing of luck for him is also being treated like an attack, because the idea of brotherhood just doesn't work well when he's too busy resenting him.

When he gets a match with Echizen however, all the resentment comes crashing down faster than even he expected. Echizen provoked him, tested him, yet at the same time told him that Shuusuke wasn't the only good player in Seigaku. This rattles Yuuta because he's been so focused on beating Shuusuke, genius Shuusuke who was good at tennis without having to try so hard, that somehow he completely sidelined everyone else who does play tennis aside from him. In a way, playing tennis with the thought of only beating Shuusuke closed his mind off his original reason for playing it--- because it was fun and he liked the challenge, and he wanted to beat strong players like the ones he saw when he was a kid. It didn't matter if Shuusuke was a genius and he was better than him, he'll still beat him one day, but it slowly melted through his defenses anyway. Echizen was a strong player, stronger than Yuuta even, and he was making him see just how fun tennis is, and by the end of the match he was happy and content even if he lost. If that wasn't enough, hearing Shuusuke wanting to crush Mizuki because he was aware that one of the moves Mizuki had taught him (Twist Spin Shot) could destroy his shoulder kind of slapped him in the face.

Here was Shuusuke, being serious and not looking down on something he held dear, and he was doing something he had kind of set aside about Shuusuke in the spirit of the word: Being his elder brother. He was taking something seriously, protecting Yuuta, and in a way it just melts away the last of the childish resentment he harbored from having to be compared to a person who never seemed to be serious about anything. Somehow that was enough for Yuuta, who probably just wanted to see him serious for once because he didn't want to be related to someone who doesn't have any passion, to start admiring him again.

Him beating Mizuki the way he did also strengthened that admiration.

However, possibly due to having had their issues as long as they have, and because they're teenagers and boys and just about every ridiculous reason at that age, Yuuta doesn't know how to openly admire his brother outside the courts as before. He ends up saying things he doesn't mean and trying to pretend he doesn't want things he secretly does, or to put it in easier terms--- he turns into a 'tsundere'. He tells his brother he'd rather have a match with Tezuka when Shuusuke tells him they should have a match next time, even if he really does want a match with Shuusuke instead. He tells him he doesn't want to go home, but is easily tempted by promises of his sister's cooking and dessert. The lack of communication from the past makes him easier to fluster and less ready for teasing, because he doesn't get that as much in St. Rudolph, and more often than not he answers him in retaliation rather than heat. Also, because he's been as angry as long as he has, he does throw his temper around more often then before, even if he doesn't mean it.

Still, despite the rockiness, Yuuta does admire Shuusuke a lot and believes him to be the best currently at tennis, and the thought of him getting beaten again flabbergasts him. Once all the actual anger was gone and all that was left was the awkwardness from their still-rebuilding relationship, Yuuta ends up being really supportive of him and watches his games often, possibly also under the guise of scouting him for when they have a rematch, this time out of pure competitive spirit rather than malice or proving something. Their current relationship is a lot healthier than before too, at least, and Yuuta sort of reverts back to his more child-like days when it comes to the courts. Even in the U-17 training camp, he openly admires Shuusuke for giving his all in the match and even asks him to confirm that yes, he is totally better than Tezuka or Atobe or Shiraishi in tennis. While he's awkward with him with normal, everyday things now, the admiration shines through there and in a way they retain a bit of their old and new interactions.

SAEKI KOUJIROU

Back when he was a wee little boy, Yuuta probably met Saeki through Shuusuke. He was a kid from Chiba just like the two of them, and he was a nice enough person and so much of a big brother figure that Yuuta probably spent a lot of his days tailing him like a duckling when Shuusuke wasn't around. Saeki was really friendly and popular and pretty much made Yuuta think he was the coolest guy in the world next to Shuusuke, so there's also a lot of admiration laced there from childhood. They played by the sea often and even because of Saeki, he started liking tennis too.

Then they moved away from Chiba.

Yuuta and Saeki's relationship becomes really strained after that. As a kid, Yuuta admired him a lot as a big brother, but having lived as far away as he had for a few years, alongside all of the issues brought about with Shuusuke worsened their relationship by association. He was more of Shuusuke's friend than Yuuta's, and while he was more persistent with sending Saeki mail after mail of their new life, the messages started slowing to a halt when he moved to St. Rudolph. It doesn't help that with his resolve to beat Shuusuke came along the resolve to beat everyone related to him, including Saeki.

By the time they meet again for a practice match between Rokkaku and St. Rudolph, most likely brought about because of the association between the Kisazaru twins, Yuuta was already stewing in anger and resentment and probably looked nothing like the wide-eyed little kid who admired Saeki years ago. In fact, it's safe to assume he wasn't very forgiving either when it came to their match. However, Saeki actually lost that match on purpose, something Yuuta may have noticed given his perceptiveness when it comes to how his opponents treat him (most likely stemmed from the whole idea of being compared to Shuusuke), but never questions this.

After the whole match with Seigaku, his relationship with Saeki was still rather rocky. There's never any real resolution between them, though it's easy enough to assume that Saeki probably never took Yuuta's harshness to heart. There's still a strong admiration for him, but because he doesn't openly resolve it with Saeki as he does with Shuusuke, he tends to be quiet around him instead and is most comfortable with him when it comes to talk about tennis. He cares for him but isn't good at showing it, and puberty causes him to be easily flustered when he does embarrassing things like actually checking up on him, causing him to react violently and well... 'tsun', for the lack of better term. Saeki being so nice to him after he was a jerk to him doesn't help, because it flusters and embarrasses him more and in turn makes him react like that.

Also there is a bit of jealousy going on there because he's the cooler brother figure, and thus he wants to be able to show off to him too, but then he's Shuusuke's best friend so he feels that Saeki probably is more obligated to his brother than to him.

HAJIME MIZUKI

Despite his shortcomings, Mizuki is someone Yuuta does respect and look at with high regards and he really appreciates him. Mizuki was the first person since his issues with Shuusuke who made him feel like he's his own person and not just the brother of the genius Shuuuke, and pretty much his biggest reason for switching from Seigaku to St. Rudolph. Though Mizuki later shows that he did in fact not care for Yuuta's well-being as much as he should have by teaching him the Twist Spin Shot, a move that could destroy his shoulder if he used it too often, Yuuta still decided to stick with Mizuki. After all, while his intentions weren't pure by any means, Mizuki did in fact help him improve, and Yuuta can't deny that Mizuki isn't a bad manager at all. He does believe in his skills and thinks that Mizuki is a really good player, even enough to really think he could beat Shuusuke.

That doesn't mean, however, that he thinks Mizuki is a completely good person. He's aware that Mizuki could and would use others to his benefit if he has to, and he isn't exactly the best role model. Mizuki often drags him out to scout other teams, and there have been times when he'd do ridiculous things that Yuuta doesn't approve of. However, he also doesn't believe he's a bad person. He draws the line on trying to use him as a guinea pig again and will more likely than not protest to anything that sounds vaguely illegal, but he'll also listen to him when he's certain that what Mizuki is telling is for his own good. He's not the type of guy to shun someone completely for wronging him, but he also knows well enough to take care of himself, which is also probably why he still sticks to him.

Yuuta sees Mizuki as someone to respect and admire on the court and his mentor, and he's probably the only one willing to push him to his limit to bring out his potential. He definitely admires that part about him even if he questions other things.

For this thread

Shishido to Rise---

Pain. In. The. Ass. Sorry Rise, he's not sure he likes you and doesn't see what Choutarou sees. She seems nice enough and she can be funny, but for the most part he doesn't really care enough for her to stick around. He'll get along with her for Choutarou's sake, but otherwise... no. It if helps any, he doesn't outright dislike her or anything, just doesn't see her as someone he will actively hang out with often. Actually, she's like Yuushi, which probably doesn't help, because oh man the way he bickers with Hyoutei boys...

Shishido to Makoto---

She wormed her way through to him pretty quickly and he doesn't mind. Makoto's spunky, lively and really honest and he likes that, and the fact that they're so similar in a lot of things (especially when it comes to training) makes it easy for him to get along with her. While he doesn't have her cheerfulness and overall charisma, he thinks that she isn't bad company and would definitely seek her out when he needs a training buddy other than Choutarou. In fact, he sees her somewhat as a part of his collection of little kouhai--- without being a kouhai--- so that means that if she ever needs advice or training or help in anything, he'd definitely be there for her. He's not too harsh on her when it comes to mistakes yet partially because she's a girl and partially because he's not sure how well she can take a harsher way of speaking, but when he gets to that level, that's probably a sign that he's really fond of her and wants her to improve.

He can't help with the girly issues, but he always figured that if Makoto asked him, he'd totally go on a date with her than any of the type of 'princesses' she seems to want to become. Not that he's interested in her romantically or anything <s>yet</s>, but he thinks that a girl like her is definitely someone he wouldn't get frustrated going with because they have so many similar interests with each other, even if the whole idol thing still sounds kinda tacky to him. He won't judge her for that though, not when she shows that it's not just something silly like posing for the camera and smiling cutely.

With Makoto, she also gets that protectiveness he has for all of his team, whether he likes them or not. He knows that she can take care of herself well enough, has even experienced it by fighting alongside her, but he does bristle when he sees her hurt due to malicious intents. If anything, he'll make sure that if he finds that exact same Rocket who punched her, he'll kick his ass hard to show him not to mess with his friends, because that's what he does and he doesn't let things just slide when it happens. Also because she's a girl, and even with his own roughness and tendency to be impolite, I think one of the things his mom would ingrain in his head since he was a little kid is that you should never hit a girl. <s>Not including of course, Halloween events, because he wasn't in his right mind.</s> Thing is, for him, while he's not a gentleman, he doesn't believe that excuses actions like that.

Shishido to Kisa---

Kisa is... cute. Like a puppy. He actually is a little interested in her, wanting to know more about this bashful little friend of Choutarou's. At least, compared to Rise, she seems more tolerable, though he doesn't really like her timidness all that much. He kind of wishes that the next time they meet, she'll be a lot more outspoken, because he doesn't deal well with shy and he'll probably snap if she does that too often. He thinks the fact that she's pretty knowledgeable about pokémon is actually cool, especially when she was checking the eggs from their first meeting. Not much to say about her though aside from that, but he wouldn't mind her company next time around.

Ittoki to Makoto---

He felt embarrassed mistaking her as a guy before, but that's long over now. He finds it admirable that Makoto is fighting tooth and nail for her dream, as odd as it is, to seem like the ideal girly girl that she wants to be. He thinks that she'd benefit a lot from meeting Ringo-sensei, but alas, that isn't possible in this place. Otherwise, he really likes her and thinks that she and Syo are really similar, and he wouldn't mind hanging out with her a lot more often if it means getting to know her. Maybe he can help her figure out what to do with that issue of hers.

Ittoki to Rise---

Ittoki admires Rise too, for different reasons this time. Rise is a lot like Tokiya, whether she realizes it or not, in the way that she's very quick to teach him things and he just absorbs it as much as he could. While he does question things a lot, mostly because there's a lot of things people tell him that confuse him, and he's glad that she's so patient with him. Sometimes she gets exasperated and doesn't always agree with him, but he thinks that hanging out with Rise gives him a chance to learn things in a different way, just like how hanging out with Tokiya makes him learn a lot about being an idol.

Their recent discussion about him actually having a crush on Nanami stumped him though, because he doesn't actually know how to deal with it even if he accepts that it might be the case. It doesn't help that he is very aware about the no-romance rule back in the academy. For him right now, it's best to give up on it because even without the rule, he's certain that Nanami definitely likes Hayato more.

With Rise though, he's always relaxed and happy, often times worrying when something goes wrong for her. He doesn't always know how to help even when he can tell that she's not acting like her usual self, but he tries his best in little things, like taking her out for ice cream or trying to lighten the mood. With Rise, he tries not to think too hard on the negative and focuses on the good things instead, finding it a lot easier and helpful than being too worried on things he can't fix. He also thinks that in a way, her strong will is a good thing, because it also makes him feel more confident in himself, something he's been wavering on mostly due to having been taken from his home.

He has a lot of fun with her too. It's probably because Rise isn't shy about doing things in public with him, like dancing in the middle of the streets or singing out loud, that it helps him just do things for fun. He's eternally grateful for that because it gives him a chance to be him and he can see it makes other people happy, and in turn makes him really happy. If anything, Rise right now is the person making him feel best about himself in Johto.

For now, he sees her more as a cheerful sister who has his back and vice versa, and he can't wait until her arm heals completely. He'll make sure to give her the best signature he can.

Yuuta to Rise---

Rise's kind of like that older sister figure only not the type he's used to, because certainly she's nothing like Yumiko aside from being an occasional troll. However, he doesn't dislike it, and in fact does like Rise a lot as a friend. She's very cheerful and friendly, sometimes can complain a lot about weird things, and does get into the occasional trouble. However, she's also very hardheaded and stubborn, and sometimes Yuuta finds himself in little arguments with her, most likely involving his brother. He sees her more as Shuusuke's friend than his though, so he's aware that if anything happens between the two of them, she'll choose Shuusuke's side and he's fine with that. He thinks of it similarly as Rise being part of Seigaku, and thus she will root for her home team and not the other team even if they're friends.

He thinks that Shuusuke might like her in that way but he isn't certain, but doesn't think on it too hard. He wouldn't mind if they dated either way. For him, Rise is someone he could talk to about things without as much reservation, and he's as quick to scold her about stuff if he deems necessary. He doesn't hold back when speaking with her either, letting out his sarcasm sometimes, and finds her easy enough to converse with. He'd be there to lend her a shoulder to cry on if she wants and he'll easily go and defend her if she needs it too.

Yuuta to Kisa--

Kisa is pretty special for Yuuta. She's someone he can't help but want to protect and take care of, often times trying to make sure she's happy and that she's aware that he's around. He's not sure why, but something about her being so timid and shy and insecure brings out his more protective side, kinda like a big brother to his own little sister. It could partially be because he's the youngest so he's never had to take care of anyone else, so he wants to kind of take on the role of a big brother too. In a way, he probably is channeling some sort of younger days with him and Shuusuke, where he's now taking the role of Shuusuke and she's being... him. Also, probably because of macho bravado or something, because he's a guy and guys need to protect girls and stuff, or that's what he learned growing up.

But despite wanting to protect her physically, he also understands that Kisa is very mature in her own right, probably more so than he is. She's scared, yes, and she does tend to look down on herself a lot, but she understands how others feel more than he does, and she tends to be the one to keep calm in situations he'd have blown up in. In a way, there's some admiration for her because she's very willing to do her best in the things she does even if it's hard for her, like trying to open up to people with the cookies and stuff, or keep herself strong when her family left. It doesn't always succeed, but she tries and he admires that and it makes him want to protect her more.

Also with Kisa, she's very good at listening, which for Yuuta is a plus. He likes talking to her about anything, problems, ideas, mundane everyday things, and finds it kind of calming to be in her presence. Sure, he'll worry and spazz if something happens to her, like getting hit by a door or buried by Magikarps, but that's expected because for him, she's a friend and friends always look out for each other.

Earnest, honest and kind, he spends a lot of time trying to motivate Nanami to do her best, always believing in her even when she starts doubting herself. Even when Nanami had been worried about letting him down as his partner for their class assignment (as she cannot read notes, therefore making it hard for her to compose a song for him to make lyrics to), he tried to stay positive and motivate her, even telling her that he's not giving up despite never having written lyrics in his life. Together, they were able to overcome that obstacle and pass the assignment. He's always ready to defend his friends, or even complete strangers, when he believes they need the help, though he doesn't always know the right words to say. There have been several instances where he tried standing up for Nanami, whether it's because the school won't let her take the entrance exam, or her classmates looking down on her for not being able to read notes, he's always the first to try defending her from them.

During times when he's stuck on words, he tries to cheer his friends up in a different way. When he realized that Nanami really was depressed about the way her classmates treated her, he tried to learn how to bake a cake from Natsuki in hopes that it'll make her feel better. This backfires, however, as Natsuki was rather eccentric in the kitchen and his version of baking pretty much involved the weirdest concoction for his batter and burning it with a flamethrower. Though he is not the smartest nor the wittiest of the bunch, as he tends to be the one who gets confused in certain situations and can be rather weak in comparison to the others when it comes to songwriting, he is somewhat empathetic, and understands other people's motivations a little more. While not always spot on, he tries his best just for them.

While there are things that he definitely wants and won't let go, like the opportunity to have Nanami as his graduation partner, he can be very selfless and agree with compromises that makes the other party feel better. This includes being the first to agree with Nanami's idea of performing as a group instead of just partners, believing that this is a good solution even if the others were wary or completely defiant of the idea. He's a really hard worker, and what he lacks in style and technique, he makes up with his eagerness and sincerity. This is why, despite Tokiya having been considered someone with the perfect pitch and technique, he was still told to learn something from Ittoki, as he sang from the heart despite not being as good as he is in other aspects. He's not someone who will easily give up because of setbacks, and he bounces back easily even at the times he falls. He knows what he wants, knows how he can get it, and won't back down even when the going gets tough.

Ittoki is also, however, somewhat naive and gullible, and sometimes his attention span fails him when it comes to complicated or long explanations. He's not the brightest crayon in the box, and sometimes requires help from others, like the time he had to ask everyone for ideas on how they write their lyrics while he struggles with his own. He believes others easily and doesn't doubt their words, whether it's Natsuki's ability to bake or Tokiya having a twin brother, only to be caught off-guard when they show otherwise. He doesn't always get what's wrong in a situation until it's too late, sometimes involving catastrophic results--- like eating Natsuki's overly burnt cupcakes, which made him pass out due to how bad they are. He is also a chatterbox, someone who can be too honest to people, and doesn't really require any prompting to speak his thoughts out loud. This includes bothering Tokiya nightly as he tends to talk to him a lot, as they're roommates. This in turn can come off as obnoxious, as he doesn't always understand when to back off until they're really irritated with him. He can also be rather childish, whining about the little things like how Tokiya won't tell him things even if he shares a lot, only to be told that Tokiya never asks him for them. He ends up either clamming up or whining more, depending on the circumstance. You could say he's also an overgrown kid, hyper and always curious, but stubborn and demanding when he wants to know something.

Strengths:

Physical: Ittoki is rather fit, somewhat flexible as well, as it is required when it comes to dancing. This is shown while they were practicing for a test, and though he floundered at the rhythm, he made it up with enthusiastic movements instead. While he's not the best, he can definitely follow along for group performances. He's also pretty energetic, seemingly never running out of energy, so it's possible that he's got a lot of endurance as well. It is also safe to say that he's quite strong, as he was able to lift Natsuki up despite the guy attached to him with his whole body. As a singer, he has a great voice, and he's not afraid to use it as best as he can. He's good enough that he can easily blend his singing with others or go solo, which is shown several times during practices and tests. He can also play the guitar, his main instrument of choice, and sometimes uses it to practice his songs when the piano isn't available. He uses this during his first test, and sometimes when he's in his room trying to work with his lyrics.

Mental: Ittoki is an optimist, and thus he doesn't always let things get to him even when he's backed in a corner. He always tries to find a solution around it, or at least work with it as much as he could even if he isn't quite sure how to solve it. As an idol, he is also the one in charge of his own lyrics, which isn't an easy task as he tends to want it to be as sincere as possible. He always tries his best to look at the bright side of a situation, and things rarely get him down as long as it doesn't involve his friends. When it comes to others, Ittoki can be quick on his feet, and would go for the best solution he can come up with to cheer them up. This includes wanting to learn how to bake a cake just so Nanami could feel better about the bullying. Also, he's the type of guy who knows what he wants and doesn't back down even when the tides turn against him, though he doesn't always know how to solve the issue on his own.

Emotional: Ittoki is very cheerful and humble, someone who always tries to make others smile as much as he could, even when things seem to be grim for them. He tries his best to look at the bright side of the situation, and can be easily moved by others, whether it's their passion or their song. He is also very empathetic, often feeling for others when they are hurt, thus also the reason why he wants to make sure that they're happy. The fact that he is very friendly is also a plus, as it makes it very easy for him to get along with people even on the first meeting. He is also very honest with his feelings, and rarely hesitates to tell Nanami about how much he'd love to work with her, as her songs make him feel good.

Weaknesses:

Physical: As of now, his tempo needs work, as mentioned by Masato during their practice. He can be clumsy and slow sometimes, getting off beat due to inexperience. He also loses his balance quite easily when caught unaware, which happens when Natsuki jumps off of him after accidentally latching onto him instead of Nanami. He is also not quite the best singer either, as he does lack technique despite having a lot of heart in his song. He also cannot stomach horrible food, just like Natsuki's cooking, and passes out when it gets too much for him.

Mental: Ittoki can be rather slow and gullible, and he doesn't always understand things as easily as others. Long explanations don't work on him, as his attention span can't take it, or it short-circuits his brain due to information overload. He is very simplistic, and even his lyrics show it, as he does take a long time to come up with anything as opposed to his peers. He also believes other people too easily, and can get easily offended when he realizes that they aren't completely truthful to him. He also has some sort of idea of equivalent exchange when it comes to conversations, in which he expects others to tell him as much as he tells them even if they don't prompt his words from him. This in turn tends to give him a disappointing reaction when he asks questions others don't want to answer. He can also be rather childish, often whiny at Tokiya when he doesn't cooperate with him on the little things, like answering his questions.

Emotional: Ittoki doesn't always understand his own feelings, and often times he mistakes them for something else, especially when it comes to Nanami. Most of the time, he does believe that what he likes about her is her music, though his reactions at seeing her suggest otherwise, as he tends to blush around her often. He can be too honest and doesn't always realize the pressure he puts on others because of it, which also tends to be a problem. This is shown when he told Nanami about how much he wanted her to be his partner, and only her, which gave her the first dilemma when it came to partnering up in their graduation performance as it made it hard for her to decide on who her partner should be. Also, even if it's his strength, it is also one of his biggest weaknesses to be as empathetic as he is, as he lets both the positive and negative emotions of others get to him as well. When Nanami is sad, he's sad, which may also be fuel for him to try making her feel happy.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Breeder
Starter: Wynaut
Password: Taco Bell

Samples
First Person Sample: You know, I always thought you'd only find monsters like these in video games! I mean, can they even be called monsters? They act more like pets to me.

[A soft rustle can be heard as the Wynaut with him starts moving about, before yawning loudly and snoozing in a corner.]

But they're really cute, especially this guy. He even smiles in his sleep! [A pause, before his tone switches from cheerful to defeated.] Though he always seems kind of angry at me. [Another beat, before he switches back to a more positive tone.] I’ll just have to try harder in understanding him! There’s no use moping about it now, is there?

Besides, I think there’s some improvement lately. Hopefully things work ou--- [ He doesn’t get to finish his statement before the sound of a kettle wheezing fills the air, alerting him almost immediately.]

Gah! I forgot--- I’ll catch you guys later, okay? Bye! [And the feed ends just as Ittoki runs off to make sure he doesn’t set the kitchen on fire by accident. Again.]

Third Person Sample: The problem with pets, Ittoki realized, is sometimes it's really hard to tell what they were thinking of.

Especially his Wynaut, who never seems to do anything but smile, and yet he's quite certain is really angry with him right now. Which is how Ittoki found himself sitting in the middle of the living room, on the floor, staring at the blue bundle of frustration and anger, trying to figure out what he did wrong this time. He's certain it isn't the food now, as he made sure to double-check that he didn't give it any fish. (It always seem to abhor fish, going so far as to toss it out the window and onto a poor passerby once.) The water he gave it is clean, and he made sure not to give it juice this time. That ended up with him having his shirt completely drenched before work. Could it be his bed?

He pauses for a moment, pushing himself off the floor in order to check it out. It was close enough, a few steps away from his current position, so he didn't really need to walk so much.

Nope. It wasn't that either.

He runs a hand through his hair, quite aware of the bristling of the little pokémon, trying to figure out what else he did wrong. As far as he can tell, the bed was clean--- and besides, didn't he just change it the day before? Granted, it was a week later than necessary, but he remembered changing it. So no, it's not the bed either.

"Can't you give me a hint? This is kinda hard." He whines, turning back to the Wynaut. The smile on its face really would fool anyone into believing it was happy, but the continuous thumping of his tail against the floor suggested otherwise. He groans, walking back to the small pokémon, trying to think of anything else he hasn't done.

Wake him up at six. Check.
Give him a bath. Check.
Make the bed. Check.
Morning h---

Oh.

Oh.

Ittoki cringes lightly, an apologetic expression surfacing on his features as he scoops up the Wynaut and gives it a hug. Okay, the morning hug. That's what he forgot. Almost immediately after that, the Wynaut relaxes and rubs his cheek against Ittoki as a sign of it's forgiveness, pleased that he finally remembered as he crows out his own name.

"You could've just told me." He whines, though without any heat behind his words as he puts down the little pokémon, watching as it scrambles to eat its breakfast. He is going to have to get used to its moodswings one day. Really.

For now though, he's late for work. Again.

He is, after all, a high ranking Bishop of Holy Harmonia, and someone who always seem to have someone cater to his every need. However, he is actually pretty nonchalant, as indicated by Kidd during his investigations. He's the type of person who doesn't ask for much of anyone, mostly because he's used to having everything being done for him before he even asks for it. He rarely, if ever, scolds any of his soldiers either, though this might be due to Dios doing the screaming for him. He's very kind, especially to his subordinates, and would treat them equally no matter the rank or the social class, because he understands the value of his soldiers very well. In fact, he will even try to get more funds just for them if he feels it is necessary because they aren't getting enough. This is shown when he gave the mantor trainers (who are normally treated badly because they're third-class citizens who train insects, and are believed to be less important than the insects because of it) extra provisions as a gift for their hard work, also because he knows they will need it.

As a bishop, he takes his duty seriously and will follow through his orders without fail. He knows when he needs to be strict and when he should be kind, and is even revered as a good leader for that. He is also very loyal to Harmonia, enough that it caused confusion among all of his soldiers when he was accused of treason, as they knew he wasn't that kind of person. While he doesn't always agree with something, he will follow it nonetheless if it's required of him. This includes following Albert's instructions to confront the Fire Bringers and attempt a negotiation despite knowing it's futile, to confirm whether or not the Flame Champion really existed among their ranks. He is also quite easy to talk to, and isn't the type to make a big fuss of things no matter what. This includes the time when he was accused of treason as well as when Geddoe attempted negotiations with him that in exchange for helping him get his rank and title back, he will help Le Buque, the mantor trainer's hometown, as well as stop the invasion of Grasslands.

As a person though, Sasarai is rather laidback. He tends to take things in stride even in the most tense situations, even if his own subordinates are riled up. This in turn helps him become the pacifier of his group, as he's always able to pull them back from becoming too rash. He is also very charismatic, making it easy for him to win the hearts of his own followers. When he's in the middle of a discussion or a report, he tends to focus on the things that seem insignificant to others, including how traveling in wetlands will mean that there will be muddy shoes and mosquitoes, or the rumors of the Flame Champion appearing. When he gets stuck on one topic, he will continue to press into it until he's satisfied with the answer. He can also be rather playful when discussing things, someone who never seems to have any worries.

However, despite appearances, Sasarai does take in everything and anything he learns, and will even send people out to learn more for him in secret if necessary. This also includes looking for any and every information of Luc he can find after his meeting with him fifteen years prior. What he wants to know, however, is usually something he keeps to himself, and even Nash (his spy) mentioned once that he is a black-clothed monk who never lets anyone know what he's thinking. In this sense, he can be a pretty formidable foe as he can be unpredictable even with his own subordinates. He is also pretty cheerful in private, even when everyone else is being too serious, and wouldn't really hold himself back because of the situation. This is shown when Mua delivered Caesar's message to Albert insulting his large eyebrows falling off, and Sasarai laughed out loud, causing everyone to look at him.

Also, ever since Sasarai was a child, he has already been trained and pampered by Harmonia. This in turn does make him somewhat spoiled, and he may complain about trivial things. This includes, as mentioned earlier, the muddiness of wetlands and the insects found there. Another example is when he tells Albert that he's working him hard by giving a speech in front of the Grasslanders as well as use the True Earth Rune on them. He's a person who's used to taking things easy, possibly because of Dios pampering him. He can be stubborn though, and a bit narrow-minded, especially in the sense of Harmonia and the world being different. This is shown partially because of the war between Harmonians and Grasslanders, as well as when he kept insisting that Leknaat had been brainwashing Luc all these years despite not really understanding how their relationship works. Despite it all though, Sasarai is still a good person at heart, only wanting to get Luc back to Harmonia so they can talk as 'brothers' despite knowing that it wasn't really the case.

Strengths:

Physical: Sasarai's main strength lies in his magic. He is a very adept mage, with one of the highest magic stats in the game. He is also the bearer of the True Earth Rune, making him powerful when it comes to magic defense as well as large scale ground-based attacks like Earthquakes, as shown during his confrontation with the Grasslanders at Chisha Village. While far from strong, he is able to stand his ground well enough when in battle, thus he is able to join small combats as well as large-scale wars. This makes him a formidable ally, especially when it comes to support magic.

Mental: Sasarai is a very calm person, someone who can read the situation clearly immediately and will act accordingly. This, along with his charismatic personality, makes him a good leader. He is able to withstand even the most problematic situations and view it with a steady mind, whether or not the result could lead to his death. He is also unbiased when it comes to social classes among his subordinates, and instead treats them all accordingly depending on how efficiently they work. He is also very good at keeping his thoughts a secret, and isn't one who will let others get to his weaknesses so easily if he can help it. He is also quite witty and sharp, and he's not the type to be afraid to speak his thoughts out when necessary, even if it treads on dangerous territory, while at the same time still keep it casual-sounding. This is shown during his conversation with Albert, where he nonchalantly asks him about his relationship with the Masked Bishop, as the man was considered suspicious even among his own men. He can also be pretty accepting of new things, even when the information could break another person, like learning that he himself was just a clone of Hikusaak.

Emotional: He is a very cheerful person normally, someone who gets easily amused by things. Because of this, he doesn't normally hold back his thoughts or amusement whenever the time occurs, making a tense situation seem like an everyday conversation. He doesn't get angry easily and takes most things in stride, and he doesn't take offense to a lot of things others would have been jumping on immediately. He is able to assess the situation and find what is in his favor almost immediately rather than waste time stewing over it, even if the solution isn't something he'd conventionally do unless completely necessary. This includes accepting Geddoe's proposition, when he immediately accepts the situation to be outside of his favor if he disagrees.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Where he is strong in magic, he is definitely lacking in strength and defense. Sasarai may be stronger physically compared to other mages, he is still considerably weaker than people who are good at physical combat. His magic, while really powerful, also isn't the most powerful either. There are some mages who still are stronger than him magically. He's bad at evasion as well, and isn't the best when it comes to repelling attacks from foes. Because of this, he is more suited to attack from afar. He also isn't that fast compared to a lot of people, possibly due to being used to staying indoors most of the time. Also, as he has been pampered all his life, he is rather inept at housework like cooking and cleaning, and have a weak set of survival skills, as it is shown that others tend to have to protect him instead.

Mental: Sasarai's tendency to keep his thoughts to himself also serves as a weakness, as sometimes even when he has suspicions, he doesn't act on them until it's too late. This includes being suspicious of Luc while he was the Masked Bishop, but not acting on it thus causing him to be tricked into losing his position in the army. He also can be narrow-minded sometimes, mostly because of his upbringing, and thus can be tactless when he believes what he is saying is true. This is shown when he asked Luc if Leknaat had brainwashed him into believing Sasarai's just a puppet of Hikusaak, even going so far as to call her a witch, which caused Luc to go on a rampage because he sullied the name of Leknaat, his master. Despite being smart, Sasarai is also somewhat sheltered, and it took him a long time to even realize that he wasn't even a real person, but a clone of Hikusaak. This also shows in the way he acts, or the way he thinks, as they become too linear when he's uninformed.

Emotional: Sasarai is the type of person who doesn't know how to handle a situation where he didn't predict the flow at all, and thus will freeze up when confronted with a situation like that. This includes the time where he was accused of treason and Albert did not support him in his denials, thus rendering him speechless as they forced him out of his position. He is also somewhat dependent on other people, being someone who is too used to having others do things for him, so it reels him back immediately when he loses that support. This may also explain why it takes him a while to accept his situation rather than find a way out of it immediately. Also, it's possibly because of his nonchalant nature, but he cannot act at all. He will be able to memorize the lines and deliver them properly, but he's as stiff as a board when it comes to delivery, sounding monotone even at the most passionate lines.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Trainer
Starter: Diglett
Password: Taco Bell

Samples
First Person Sample: What do you suppose the feet of a diglett looks like?

Would they be similar to a mole's? After all, they stay underground so often, it makes one rather curious of how they move around. Perhaps they're more like worms, and they wriggle through the soil instead of dig.

[A pause as he takes a sip of his tea, amusement laced in his voice.] Perhaps they're a part of something bigger instead? What do you think?

[It's at this point that his own diglett makes a small sound of protest, bumping it's head against his foot at the questions. He, in turn, chuckles at that, watching the small pokémon with some fondness.]

You're certainly a mystery of your own, aren't you? It's too bad pokémon can't speak like us. Perhaps we'll have more answers like that! [He takes another sip of his tea, turning back to the camera of his pokégear.]

But if you have the answer to this question, I'm dying to hear it. Any takers?

Third Person Sample: Well, this was a predicament.

Sasarai crossed his arms in front of him as he surveyed the situation in his hands right now. In fairness, he had thought the concept would be fairly simple, and even when he was given the instructions, they hadn't seem to be too difficult for him to handle. Of course, perhaps he hadn't been able to follow the instructions clearly, as he wasn't exactly sure what certain things did, nor did he really understand what they meant by 'You will definitely know when it's ready.' Still, an order was an order, and his 'boss' was too busy to supervise him despite this being the first time he's done this.

And was it supposed to look like that?

He was certain someone had omitted telling him something important along the way, as he had made sure to do all that was told of him. Which was why he couldn't understand why this pan was overflowing with what looked like pink goop, as he was certain he didn't put anything remotely pink into it, nor anything goop-like either.

He sighed to himself, wishing that Dios was here to explain just what he did wrong when he tried to bake a cake. He was fairly certain cake wasn't supposed to bubble in the middle like that either. Well, as long as it wasn't alive, he figured it's not the worst thing that he could make. After all, what else could happen now, right?

It could burst into flames apparently, and that's when all hell broke loose.

Almost immediately, a pokémon screeched from his left side, and then there was panic as people suddenly started asking what happened. Soon after, Sasarai had to blink when he realized it was raining indoors, something he has never quite experienced before, and it seemed very centered on his area. Well, it certainly didn't seem to be helping with getting rid of the fire. Screaming followed, not his own thankfully, before he was forcefully yanked away from the scene so that people could spray it with the fire extinguisher, forgetting their own jobs for a moment.

That's when he realized that the owner was looking at him, not quite pleased at the results of his baking attempt. He smiled sheepishly in reply, smoothing down his apron as he looked at him.

"Oops?"

And thus this was how Sasarai got fired on his first day.

She’s calm, friendly and a pretty laidback lady, often drinking with Joker in the local bar at the end of the day. She’s not the type of person to stress out over things, and she lives for the moment more often than not. As one of Geddoe’s men, her loyalty lies in him and not in any land, and she will obediently follow every order he gives if necessary, whether she knows the reason behind them or not. This shows her trust in her leader’s judgment, as she rarely ever questions his motive or his actions. While this means that she can be sent on dangerous missions on her own, it also shows that she is capable of handling herself when the situation calls for it. As a mercenary, she’s very good at handling a sabre, and though she would most likely use the flat side of it to stun enemies, she will kill if she has absolutely no choice but to.

She can be rather competitive sometimes, especially when it involves her rival Elaine. As the only girls in their respective units, they butt heads all the time, and will exchange catty insults whenever they can. She can also be sensitive about things like her age, and would not hesitate to try cutting you if you say anything that implies she’s old. This is one of the reasons she clashes with Ace, and sometimes Joker, as they are brasher when it comes to their words. She also doesn’t like men who give up too easily, and will more likely than not slap a man who will not stand up for himself. This happens during the time she invaded Harmonian camp and explained Franz’s situation to the Le Buque troops, only to hear them mention how they can’t possibly do anything in their position because of Harmonia. Also, possibly due to her aristocratic heritage, she tends to dislike the less hygienic side of her group, and the fact that Ace can be stingy with money.

Though she can have a really rough attitude, Queen is a very nice person, particularly to kids like Aila. In the game, she even gives Kidd candy despite him obviously investigating her, and she tends to dote on Aila while she was traveling with them, which includes getting her new clothes. She is also a very happy drunk, and would be quick to hug and smother people when she’s drunk enough. She’s not the type of person to abandon others either, especially those who she knows she has wronged, whether it’s directly or indirectly. This is shown when she went out of her way to save Franz despite not needing to, because she was aware that the only reason he got into the mess was because of them. Another thing to note, related to her aristocratic background, is that she has quite a lot of fondness for books and music, far more than a normal mercenary would.

She’s also not a very secretive person. While she won’t openly state everything that happens to her, she doesn’t have issues mentioning her background in a casual conversation, or at least the gist of it. This is shown when she idly mentions it to Aila while they were discussing the reasons they were with Geddoe, and when she told the Le Buque troops that she doesn’t know what it’s like to have a home to return to like them, hence her disapproval of the troops not standing up for what they believe in. Aside from Elaine, she also isn’t the type to get into a heated argument easily, and would most likely act as the pacifist in the group, often explaining the situation to disperse the fight.

Abilities: Queen is a swordsman, and as such her rune and her attack style are heavily based on using a sabre called Luna Llena. She usually chooses to use the flat side of her blade in battle to stun enemies, keeping it as clean as possible unless it’s completely necessary for her to kill. Her rune, the Ripple Rune, is a rune that’s designated only to her and while it lowers the damage of her attack to only 75% of its original power, can also poison the enemy.

Sample Entry: You know, men shouldn't be so stingy with money. [A sigh. Perhaps she'll try weaseling out some money from her 'husband' again later.]

This kind of simple life doesn't suit me that much. I suppose having traveled so much does that to you. Though the lack of smelly guys help a lot. [There's a wistful hum at the end of that at the thought. Well, she certainly missed her team.] I wonder if anyone else would be arriving here. Aila would look so cute in some of these clothes.

But what am I saying? That wasn't the point of this. Instead, are there any generous men out there willing to buy a girl a few drinks? Nothing wrong with meeting new people here, right?

Don't worry, I'll try not to drink you under the table.
