this honestly makes no difference to me because i stopped downloading music when spotify came out and since megaupload died i haven't been able to dl movies because i don't have the dedication to wait 3 hours for slow as fuck fileserve and all the other bunk ass alternatives so they already defeated me anyway FUCK YOU INTERNET

i glances at the people who still torrent they'll probably only go after people who torrent/upload still AS PER USUAL

yeah i've never been dumb enough to torrent my movies/music, even back when this wasn't such a big deal. i remember using oink for a while but as soon as oink was raided i smartened up

direct downloading isn't really an issue the only reason megaupload was put on blast was for their money laundering and racketeering

the problem with torrenting vs direct downloading is most of the laws already in place are about file sharing which is why torrents are a problem because they seed while you dl. if you're downloading they aren't happy about it but the law only goes after people who upload and megaupload was put on blast for that too though, they hosted a lot of pirated files but so does everywhere tbh
