the giver, the lottery, and the most dangerous game. really really really if you haven't read these books/short stories you should. the giver applies more to the hunger games than battle royale and it came out AFTER battle royale i believe, but this kind of weird fucked up concept has been around for centuries because there's nothing more fucked up than killing kids or fucking their lives up in literature. i mean even lord of the flies to some extent although that story is more like the kids inflicting it on themselves it's just a concept that gets recycled every 20 years or so
