i think battle royale was better tbh because the kids didn't expect it. they went on on a trip, got drugged and woke up having to fight for their lives. that's TERRIFYING. putting it in a future where that happens every year and everyone knows there's a chance they'll get put in knocks out a whole element of what's scary, to me at least

see for me it's the opposite. it's worse if you know it's going to happen and from twelve to eighteen you're constantly fearing you're going to be a human sacrifice to the crazy ass capitol

but at least if you know it's a possibility you can be like the careers and train your whole life and mentally prepare yourself for the battle in case you ever get in. if you were just thrown into a fight for your life tomorrow when you didn't even know fights to the death were even going on you would have NO IDEA what to do with yourself idk matter of opinion let's just hope neither happen

i just think on a psychological level panem would be worse because you're basically plucked out of your home and you spend a week or two making your potential death into a show for a country of desensitized fucks, and even if you never get chosen in the lottery, your friends could or eventually your kids could. BUT YEAH i figure that's just me. i've watched/read both and love both, thg just scared me a little more
