The two mapped and studied the human genome for years on end, seeking ways to unlock the potential inherent in all humanity. Their years of scientific study brought them greater accolades, and when Greta got pregnant, they thought their world was complete. David was stillborn and continued to have issues throughout the first months of his life, to his parents eternal shame and confusion. Daniel and Greta wondered what about them had become so flawed that they would pass these qualities to a child. When David was seven, he became deathly ill and was in need of a kidney transplant to save his life. When no donors were available, Daniel acted out of desperation. Using the years of genetic splicing and recombination research that he and Greta were working on, he developed a serum that he thought might help his son. David’s symptoms seemed to get worse before they got better, and Greta railed at the injustice. One week later, David’s symptoms vanished as though they’d never been. Suddenly, he was running, jumping and playing alongside the other kids, doing things that were impossible only a month before. He was more active and energetic than he’d ever been. Two weeks later, he started climbing walls. The teachers called from school to say that something was wrong with his eyes or that David was doing things that normal kids just weren’t able to do. Reporters were called to look at the “Wonder Boy”. Eventually, things got to the point that people were camped outside the Sommers’ residence just to get a glimpse of him. He packed his things and left for the Academy several days later and he’s been there ever since.
Needed: I'd like to see David's parents around, for certain. Otherwise, he's friend with various people at the school, though he keeps to himself when he's feeling a bit...odd.
