http://thelovebug.livejournal.com/577857.html Last night, I made a purchase with a company called Dolphin Music (as recommended by Ste from Dalecast) for some equipment for my podcasting set up. For the last 18 months or so, I've been using a headset with my laptop to record my shows. I covered this off in some detail in this post.
So, I bought a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer, two Behringer C-1 mics, a Behringer UCA202 USB audio interface, two mic stands, and cables to connect everything together. You'll notice that the 3 major products are all Behringer... I believe this to be fate.
I was already looking at that mixer, as I saw one in use at a wedding reception that we went to earlier this year, and also Mark from The Random Three confirmed that he had the same one. The mics I found as a result of some information I was given regarding condenser mics, and these ones came out as the top result in the search. The USB interface came about by accident as I realised that I had no way of connecting the mixer to the laptop - no line-in, you see. So I visited the Linux USB Project to find a device that would let me add a line-in to my laptop, and wouldn't you believe it that the UCA202 was one of the devices that worked well with Linux. So I figured I might as well go all-in with Behringer - and the price was extremely good.
Add to all of this, that I spoke to Grant Mason from the Three From Leith podcast earlier in the week, asking him about what audio processor he used on his show, as he'd mentioned it a couple of times... and yes, it was a Behringer. So that really solidified my belief that Behringer was right for me.
The order is still awaiting a security check, so it's doubtful that it'll be with me this week. Still, it gives me something to look forward to.
