Biographies: The Mondfarkas

Artemis is not the wilting flower she often pretends to be. She is very dedicated to the pack and will throw herself in the way of danger to protect her fellows.

Falk is a solitary creature, living on his own on Hedland Beach. He doesn't have much in the way of shelter, sometimes sleeping on the beach or in bits of grass. He doesn't bother to seek cover from the elements. He still converses with his tribe, but he avoids Strider with whom he has a long-standing feud. In wolf form he will piss on people who've crossed him, sometimes just for fun.

Strider is one of the oldest members of the Mondfarkas. He is by no means the patriarch and leaves the decisions governing the tribe to others. He is scarred over much of his body, but his fur covers most of these wounds when he is in wolf form. He has a strong dislike of Falk.

Ganesh is a little left of center. Usually mumbling to himself about the weather, he likes to wander around the island and barely gets himself out of trouble with other tribes. Not to be trusted with any amount of responsibility. It's rumored that Ganesh once ate one his younger siblings, but it's possible he started this rumor himself.

Broderick is kantele, living in her own special spots on the island. She doesn't like to be called Brody or Rick or any sort of nickname. Broderick's special gift is the ability to turn various objects different colors just by touching them. Since discovering this ability her hair has been through a plethora of impossible colors. She doesn't find much use for this ability other than changing her hair.

She likes to spy on the faerie village, as if it's her own private soap opera to watch. She is extremely talkative and bubbly. She could talk about anything (or nothing in particular) for hours on end. She may have a photographic memory (it works with any form of information she takes in, whether by seeing or listening).

Sveta has taken relish in fighting during the many elf skirmishes; ever the warrior she practices when there isn't fighting and is right at the front lines when trouble starts. She has no desire to end the violence. She is having a secret relationship with Levi of the Enkeli Everto.

Fiona is the island's sole banshee (or Todesfee); a recluse in the Black Woods who wails when death approaches. She may be part fae, or even part witch, but she never asked about her lineage and sadly she is the last known banshee of her line. She is a solitary creature.

She lives in Corcyra's marsh and is very close with the eleionomae. She looks to her for guidance, comfort, and support when she feels lost or her grief becomes overwhelming. She worries about what will befall her if she truly is the last of her kind.

Lily is Abel's girlfriend. She is gentle and sweet; she makes an effort to always do what's right over what's easy. She fled from the Ungur All during the Elven war and sought safety elsewhere, meeting Abel along the way. They live in a little cabin in the Southern Valley apart from the other Enkeli.

Biographies: The Nghrau

Aina is the twin sister of Claudette. Born witches, Aina decided to become a vampire. Abe followed her, he was the child of a close family friend that the girls watched over. Inexplicably drawn to West, it was he that turned her (his very first). She has been tied to him since and does whatever he wants. Her relationship with her sister remains tenuous and Aina has told her that she should not seek her out unless she wants to become a vampire as well.

West (formerly known as Colter Hughes) was born of a human woman turned vampire. It was a complicated pregnancy and she was shunned from the Nghrau. She took up living with the witches when she had no where else to turn and they helped her, binding her unborn son against evil. When the bindings broke he would prematurely age and they would know he was up to trouble or had done something bad. They also rapidly aged him when he was first born so that he wouldn't be a blood thirsty baby. Being born without a soul he was a curious child and without a strong moral compass. His mother and the witches responsible for his binding tried to raise him properly, but one night his blood lust was too much to ignore. He killed his mother and drank her blood, breaking some of his bindings and aging him from a child to a young man.

His relationship with the other vampires has always been a touch strained, since he can walk in the sun without aging. He lived on his own until Aina found him. He is her maker and she is the only vampire he has made. He's debated about making more, but not until he can be more certain of their place within the Nghrau tribe.

Biographies: The Enkeli Everto

Enkeli Everto

Dinah wasn't born mute. She was punished by Rapithwin for a past indiscretion by having her voice taken away (and essentially cutting her off from her ability to control people). She has developed a way of speaking with her hands that she has taught to those she trusts, but she seems to have a kind of telepathy with those she wishes to use her powers on. She was one of Levi's many lovers. She once gave birth on the mainland to a little boy she named Asher. He was left with his father to be raised and he has never known her. She has kept this secret from her fellow Enkeli.

Jael is fiesty and peculiar. She often takes Levi's side for no better reason than to irritate Dinah. Jael has caused a lot of conflict on the island, particularly between the elves and often for no better reason than that she is bored. She was also one of Levi's lovers, however they stopped when he realized they would have no children.

Levi is the island's mischief maker and run away lover. Levi has had entanglements with many of the island's inhabitants. Levi has more lovers on the island than is possibly redeemable. He also has a bevy of children, all daughters. What he desperately wants is a son to carry on his work, but what he doesn't realize is that he cannot have sons, only daughters. All of his trying has resulted in seven daughters (Helen and Heidi from his affair with Serene, Deryn from his affair with Rhian, Dahlia from his affair with an unnamed Kantele, and Sarah, Rose, and Emily from an unnamed witch). He is having an affair with Branwen, as well as her tribe mate, Sveta. The only one of his children that he raised was Helen, simply because she was born with wings and would fit no where else. He took her with serious reluctance, but found he took to raising her with the same zeal he has in destroying what he deems are inferior tribes. He has kept detailed histories and family trees on the island, without anyone's knowledge. He seeks to breed out, or kill those who are inferior in his eyes (particularly the Guarnizioni and the Liten Meneske).

Helen is the daughter of Levi and Serene. Levi will not tell her who her mother is, or that she has an older sister (and another half-sister) simply because he was promised against doing so. He also has kept from her the reason why she can cast magic as well as her Enkeli powers, though her Kouzelheks abilities are considerably weaker than her Enkeli ones. Besides her irritations with her father she really loves her strange family in the little house in the Southern Valley.

Abel is a weird and outcast sort of Enkeli. He lives in a separate cabin with his girlfriend Lily of the Unger All. He's a craftsman of sorts, building custom chairs and tables and gifting them in exchange for magic or food.

To understand Oporo, Rapithwin, and Saturna, it's easier to explain them all at once.

Rapithwin was banished from the gods because she was attempting to make and perfect a weapon that could destroy them. Her experiments had to do with separating souls from bodies. Through this process she began to discover that souls held tremendous potential energy and could be used to make a weapon.

Upon her arrival on earth she was split into three portions, each part of her soul separated into an identical body ("bad" Rapithwin: Saturna, "good" Rapithwin: Oporo, and mid Rapithwin: just Rapithwin). She kept her separations a secret from everyone else. She (meaning all three women) then began applying her techniques to humans which resulted in making vampires (by removing their souls) and zombies (by injecting those souls into dead bodies). The vampires did not live long (she didn't yet realize they needed blood). The zombies were lower functioning than she would have liked and craved flesh. She finally discovered that vampires needed blood to sustain their lives.

While this was going on she was posing as one person, only one of them going out in public at a time, or being seen by any of their creations. She (all three) fell in love with Edgar, a potential subject. She waited until she had figured out the blood trick before turning Edgar into a vampire. He is the only creature aware of her secret (though now he's dead, so it doesn't really matter)

Lots of fighting ensued with the Rapithwins over what was appropriate (don't kill to live, kill anything to live, do only what you need to live). Edgar eventually sided with Rapithwin because she had the middle ground approach. They decided to leave the mainland together and found the island to live on. Edgar wasn't the only breaking point between the Rapithwins. The use of the souls they had collected, and other things going on between them had all added up to the dissension and eventual separation of the three.

Rapithwin hid her ultimate weapon at the bottom of the lake. She had to kill the limnatide in order to do so (a terrible necessity). She had to erase the memories of the Vatnadis to assuage their grief and anger. She adopted them in a way, along with the small faction of humans and other magical tribes that had been living peacefully there. She took on the safety and well-being of the island as her responsibility.

While Rapithwin was on the island Saturna attempted to kill Oporo. She was still heartbroken over the loss of Edgar and took it out on the other part of herself. Oporo fled the mainland and sought out Rapithwin for protection.

Meanwhile, Saturna made Ioana as a companion. She made other vampires to use as guards and eventually weapons against the humans. Rapithwin didn't make anymore vamps on the island, but she had been using them to collect souls for her ultimate weapon (which no one knows is buried at the bottom of the lake on Insula de Virsta).

Ioana intended to kill Edgar because of how heartbroken Saturna had been over his "betrayal." Instead she became his companion and lover. Rapithwin and Edgar eventually reunited and Edgar left Ioana to be with his former lover. Rapithwin became pregnant with Owen and Daevas. That was the thing that pushed Ioana over the edge to finally kill Edgar. Ioana blamed his death on the witches to hide the truth, which Rapithwin knew but could not justify without revealing Ioana's motives (her pregnancy, which Rapithwin had carefully concealed).

Upon the birth of her children, Rapithwin asked the only witch she trusted to age them. She put them into a sleep state until she was ready to hide them. She was clever about it, hiding them in plain sight though she led others to believe that she'd hidden them on the mainland. She introduced them a few years later as major players on the island. Rapithwin realized she couldn't raise her children alone (even as they were aged to adults). She went to the mainland one last time and begged Victor to return with her (as he had before politely refused). He consented and when they returned they both pretended that Owen had come from the mainland with Victor, as the final group of magicals to come to the island. Daevas had been tucked in with the Vatnadis as a limnatide, which had been missing since Rapithwin had killed the original. She pretended as though he'd always been in the lake and shifted everyone's memories to agree with this scenario.

Saturna is at the moment, at large. Rapithwin and Oporo have been doing their best to keep the island hidden from her and to maintain her banishment, but as Saturna has the same abilities they do it is only a number's game and a matter of time before one of them slips.
