So she turns to the only person she can think of – Sirius Black.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fanfiction set in the Harry Potter universe – all recognisable characters and settings are the property of J. K. Rowling and her associates. No copyright infringement is intended. No profit is made from this work. Please observe your local laws with regards to the age-limit and content of this work
Warnings/Kinks: Dubious consent; may be considered underage (Draco is 16)
Word Count:</b> 23,589
Author's Notes: This fic takes place immediately following OotP. It’s AU in that Sirius didn’t die; otherwise, it’s compliant with OotP canon. Some lines are taken directly from HBP. Many thanks to my always-excellent beta, without whom I would be completely lost at sea.

I absolutely love this fic, so much so that I was late for work this morning. It's not even hard to see why. It's long, it's Sirius/Draco and it's pace is just right. The characterization for Sirius and Draco is faithful and believable as the story progresses and there are never WTF moments. There is a little Snape/Draco shut out that made me smile.

It's set right OotP and as the notes say it's AU since Sirius 'almost' dies, and doesn't go past that summer.

If I had to pick one thing I don't like with the fic, it's the Warning. I'm one of those who believe that this is consent or there isn't, and in this fic, there is. No matter what the situation is that drives Sirius and Draco, they both consent to what happened.

There seem to be lots of good fics at hp_cross_fest.
I haven't written on LJ for ages, but TV season has started, so I figured I might as well start writing again.

- Flash Forward is amazing. I loved the preview at Comic Con and the fact that they said they will give us answers in year 1 gives me hope that it's not going to turn into another Lost. I really don't have the patience for a 5 year mystery.

- Grey's Anatomy was just... meh. There were good parts, but I guess I stopped caring about this people a while back.

- The Fixer: this is an UK show that I just discovered and it has violence, sex, it's depressing and generally speaks of the worse in human society, which is pretty much why I love it so much.

- Sons of Anarchy: see the Fixer. No really, I love these shows. No fluffy crap anywhere in sight. It's perfect.

- Supernatural: I'm staying away from fandom because it's really the only way to enjoy the show, but now I want to go back because I want to read some Sam/Lucifer porn. Really, they are much more interesting than Cas and Dean. I didn't even dislike their scenes as much as I thought I would. I just found them contrite and boring.

- OMG, two cons are just too much for me. I like NY, hell I love NY too much to be away for so long. I came home and it's hot, muggy, humid and raining, and I'm telling my sister just how much I love it. San Francisco is way too cold for me, and San Diego is still too cold. I like my summers to be hot. More than that, I missed home with my caffe latte in the morning (and not that cheap, horrible Starbucks lattes), the pasta with fresh seafood at night. Really, I should never leave NY for more than a week at a time. I go in withdrawal.

- Azkatraz - I didn't register, which gave me plenty of time to see people. I won't mention everyone because I'd mention half my flist, but it was so awesome to see all them again. The downside of it was that the hotel sucked ass. I haven't had time to call the fire marshal yet for the negligent way they dealt when they fire alarm went off. If this is how the act in a real emergency, everyone on that floor would be dead.

- Comic Con - How much do I love this Con? There are no words for it. sabershadowkat and I have this down to an art. We got there on Monday night. Tuesday, we went grocery shopping for the rest of the con, and then we went to Tijuana (it's just 6 stops away on the trolley). When the con started, we made food every day - lunch and dinner - so we could stay in the panels and not stress. We also had enough practice in getting passes and doing what we needed to do without losing our seats. I came home with about 30 free books, some signed, some not, and some from sabershadowkat. Most of them are young adults and my kids will love them (and so will I). My nephews got an autographed book of GI Joe v. Cobra. Stephen was in love with it, and almost hugged me for it, before thinking better of it, because he's 15 and hugging isn't cool. There's a rumor that next year, preview night will be capped to 13,000. I don't know if it's true, but I've already registered, so no worries there.

- Infinitus - After this year experience, I've decided that there is no way that I can go to Infinitus. As much as I'll miss seeing everyone, there's no way that I can be in Florida from July 15 to the 18 and then in San Diego from the 21 to the 25.

- NYC Con? - Which brings me to the last point? I know we've talked about it a lot, but how many people would seriously be interested in coming to NYC the weekend of July 9-11? Depending on the numbers and interest, we might do something, it would be totally unofficial, a la Wincon, and probably numbered capped, because big hotels mean big money and registration, blah blah, and this wouldn't be an attempt to compete with HPEF, but just getting a lot of us together so we can have a good time.

This has kept me up all night, and I know a show shouldn't keep me up, but it was driving me crazy. I kept reading reactions about episode 5, and the difference on how Jack's actions were received is amazing between the people with no children and the people with children.

I think what put me off Torchwood, more than Ianto's death, was Jack willingly sacrificing his grandchild.

Many people on my flist have said that it was the only solution, and poor Jack will suffer, and blah blah, blah, however this is a view that I've seen only from people who don't have any children.

My reaction is that Jack is effectively a monster. I despise him after what he did. The one job you have as a parent is to protect your child above all. If you can pick anyone, even the entire world, over your child or grandchild, then you are a despicable being. Frobisher made the right choice. He saved his children the only way he knew how. I can respect that a lot more than what Jack did. Sure, they could have taken Stephen anyway, but he should have objected, should have fought them. He should have protected him even if it meant sacrificing 10% of the world's children. To do anything else is just wrong.

Now, if you're a parent and you want to argue differently, I'm all ears, but the fact that you have a brother/sister/cousin/nephew/niece/dog/cat isn't the same thing.

First off, Happy Fourth to all Americans!!!

***

I've come to the conclusion that communist trained athletes and trainers are sadist. I don't mean Italian communists, which the new BMW in their backyard, I mean real communist countries. I've had plenty of experience with them to know by now.

1. My ballet teachet. It was the 70s. He had defected in Paris in the late 60s while on a tour with the Bolshoi. He could not understand why parents of six years olds complained that their daughters went home with blisters and bloody feet. He told them and us, repeatedly, that if we couldn't take the pain we shouldn't do ballet.

2. My gym teacher in high school. She had defected from Romania in the late 70s. She started teaching in my school in my first year. We didn't have much in the gym, but we had uneven bars. She taught us a routine and it didn't matter if people were afraid or not, if they had done gymnastic before. A school year, multiple sprains, one dislocated knee and plenty of fake doctor's notes later, she managed to teach the routine to the surviving class members.

3. My current personal trainer, Skifter, was part of the Albanian olympic team. He came to the US after Enver Hoxha's death. He doesn't understand just how much I despise that Stair Master. Really, he doesn't.

Now, I know that all of these people grew up in regimes that as Skifter eloquently put it 'sent you to jail for life if you didn't compete well', but really, I joined the gym to make my husband happy, not because of any masochistic tendencies.

***

I was looking at temperatures for California to decide what to bring in terms of clothes. Okay, so maybe you don't care, but I'll tell you anyway.

happy_trekmas - This is what I've been doing, because it's never too early to think about Christmas.

Now, there is a big bang planned before this and sometime in Feb/March we should have a Fuh-Q Fest. It's been so long since the fandom had one of those and considering that the first Fuh-Q Fest was Spock/Kirk, it's only right that we return to the basics.

Really, Star Trek owns me.

It's been way too long since I've posted. I keep saying that I will post, and I have meta posts in my mind, but then I get tired and it gets pushed off and never gets done. So things I've done:

1. Last Thursday, I had dinner at Il Cortile in Little Italy. Not only the restaurant is fantastic, but the company was even better. midnitemaraud_r, ziasudra_fic, bethbethbeth, lauriegilbert, marksykins, and cedarlibrarian were all there and we talked for hours. I'm pretty sure they wanted us out by the end of the night.

2. On Saturday, ziasudra_fic invited us to her new sparkly apartment. I had a chance to see midnitemaraud_r, , paranoidsistah, and bethbethbeth again. This is the most I've seen them in such a short time. We were joking (not entirely) that the next time we see each other, we'll be in San Francisco. BTW, I've bought the Mario game for the Wii. You people keep getting me addicted to things.

3. Speaking of San Francisco, I just got my tickets. NYC-San Francisco-San Diego-NYC for a grand total of $385. Using my miles, I end up paying $85.

4. st_reboot is going strong with over 1100 members. I'm also one of the editors at trek_news. I still can't get myself to write Star Trek though for a few reasons. One, Spock was my first (and probably only) TV boyfriend. I mean as a kid, I had entire time traveling adventure where I would grow up and marry him. The Mary Sue factor is high. Two, it's even worse because these are NOT the Spock and Kirk we know. They are the same and yet different. Mmmm, I have to get myself motivated.

5. I'm actually writing fic. I'm writing two fics. One for apocalyptothon and the other for smallfandomfest. I can't say what I'm writing for the first, although OMG, I can't believe I am writing that. I'm writing the Fast and the Furious for the second one.

6.

glitter-graphics.com

to ;amelia_eve.

I admit I was afraid to see it, because JJ Abrams can be hit and miss with things, but I really, really loved it. Spock, you're still my favorite.

So the question comes up: where's the fic?
