Backstory: The son of the rightful heir of Vlatava, Count Werner Vertigo, and the Count’s top military aide, Alphonse was raised in the life of nobility in exile, educated in the finest schools of Europe, trained by superb fighters and fencers, he returned to Vlatava at the age of twenty-one to assist with his father’s campaigns to retake the country.  Though he lacked the inner-ear imbalance that necessitated his father’s equipment, he too made use of the vertigo-inducing technology.

When it appeared his father was killed during a conflict, it was recommended he leave the country for his own safety.  Though his noble pride demanded otherwise, he acquiesced to the request and fled to America, where he found work operating as a mercenary, flying just below enough the heroic radar to keep out of their reach.  That he usually chose targets that he deemed unworthy of what they had or otherwise dishonorable spread his reputation as ruthless but not without certain morals.  A dangerous mix.  Most of the money he made was funneled back into the Vlatava military.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Recruited into the Suicide Squad
What are you planning to do with this character? Be a member of the Suicide Squad, eventual return to Vlatava to find out what happened to his father.
What do you want to see happen with this character?: Getting along with the commoners? He’ll seriously need to be knocked on his ass for his imperious attitude at some point.

“Mr… Conners, was it?” Vertigo asked, as he watched the man struggle to stand, a victim of the Vertigo Effect coming from the device he wore around his eye.  “I would say that this was strictly business, Mr. Conners, but that would be a lie. And a man of my station may be many things… but he is not a liar.”

He approached, keeping the effect going.  “Your company sells weapons to regions that make soldiers of children, Mr. Conners.  Children.  Children are dying because of your weapons.  Taking this job was well worth the money… but ending your miserable life will be a pleasure.

“But I am a fair man.  In a few moments, I am going to cease broadcasting my Vertigo Effect.  I know you have a pistol under your jacket.  So I will give you, oh, ten seconds to draw and fire it on me, before I kill you.”

He turned off the Effect, and mentally counted to ten.  The man begged, pleaded, but lacked the strength to overcome the spinning hell he had been placed through.   Vertigo pulled one of his knives and threw it, striking the man cleanly in the throat.  He was dead before he hit the ground.

But one could not say he had not given his victim a chance.
