past relationships: Previously engaged to Laura Mulciber. Marriage prospects fell apart after the death of her brother. Upon discovering Laura was not a virgin, Orpheus' father insisted the engagement be terminated. The families are not speaking. Laura is now married to Dominic Yaxley and has a child.

story.

Orpheus lived with his parents and younger sister in Gloucestershire. He had a happy childhood, with early memories filled with pushing his sister on a mattress down the large front staircase and adding pounds of extra sugar to his mother's pies when she wasn't looking. Orpheus and his sister were the best of friends, being separated by only 4 years. He couldn't wait until she started school at Hogwarts and he could do his big brotherly best to show her around. He was sure she would be a Slytherin with him and as of his second day as a first year, began preparing to 'pass the torch'.

However, Orpheus was very different at school than he was at home. He was in Slytherin, adequate in most subjects, apt in Potions, excelling in Transfiguration. He wanted to go out for his Animangus License, Transfiguration being his favorite subject. He had high academic hopes.

Orpheus was very popular, very outgoing. Nearly everyone liked him, except for the obvious house rivalries. He got along well with most of his teachers and though was often in detention, it was never anything very serious. His typical offense was not completing his homework, having been too occupied with his friends to be bothered. No one ever really expected him to become a Death Eater.

But Orpheus was very insecure with himself. He often required the approval of others in order to think he was any good. As he grew up, he saw many of his housemates involved with Darker elements of magic and soon he was caught up with the wrong sorts of people.

The Death Eaters told him he was something, they told him he was capable of great things, that he would be a somebody, and he believed them. They had power and people respected and feared them. More than anything, Orpheus wanted to hold power over people; he wanted to be in control. This was his major character flaw, which had obviously played into his house sorting.

Orpheus graduated from Hogwarts by the skin of his teeth, already very involved with the Death Eaters. His long time friend Anthony Mulciber helped to secure him a position at the Ministry and although it was a poor excuse for what he thought he deserved, Orpheus knew his NEWT scores could secure him nothing more. It was at this time that Orpheus developed a relationship with Laura, Tony's younger sister and the two were engaged. Shortly after their engagement was announced, Tony was killed in an incident that the Mulciber family covered up by means of their close ties as Voldemort supporters. This was the catalyst that threw apart Orpheus and Laura's impending marriage and Orpheus was never the same after the death of his friend.

It was at this time that Orpheus' eccentricities began to surface. He threw all his time into work and left little for the sister and the family that had recently meant so much to him. Under Tony's instruction, he had worked hard to keep his family close but now he cared little for anything. He grew closer instead to the Death Eaters and worked his way up in the ranks steadily.

It was time for Orpheus to settle down, his family decided one evening and a marriage was arranged with the Wilkes family with the youngest daughter, Juliana. The pair were completely surprised by the arrangement but went along with it for lack of better options. The marriage was a failure from the start however, and only served to give Orpheus more reasons to please the Death Eaters, especially since now he was the brother-in-law of perhaps the two craziest Death Eaters, the Wilkes brothers.

During this period of his life, Orpheus did work to rekindle his relationship with Klio. The family within the walls of his own home was fragmented enough and he looked to her for someone to rely on, probably one of the only people he now thought he could fully trust what with his parents dumping him with an awful match. Klio in turn looked up to her brother and had no real knowledge of his involvement with the Death Eaters or of his troubles at home, although she knew he did detest his new bride.

Orpheus finally did get the opportunity he had been waiting for when he was assigned the mission of carrying out the McKinnon murder. He took pleasure in finally extracting the vengeance for the world he'd been secretly harboring for a long time and had no problem that many of the people murdered that night had no direct involvement in his life at all. Marlene McKinnon was able to alert The Order however as to the identity of the Death Eater that had attacked her family so it was only a matter of time before the authorities came after Orpheus.

Orpheus was arrested at the 100th birthday party of his grandfather's on charges of spousal abuse that allowed the Ministry to hold him until evidence in the McKinnon murder could be brought against him. His groundbreaking trial began on September 1, 1979 and he was the first Death Eater convicted and sent to Azkaban. To Orpheus' credit he did not give up the names of any other Death Eaters on the stand and confessed to carrying out the murder without accomplices.

Orpheus is presently doing time in Azkaban and no release date is set. He will be allowed visitation privileges beginning in September of 1980.

That being said, her general garish appearance is usually due to the fact that she didn't bother to look in the mirror before she dashed out the door, late for something or other. However, at the rare times that De does take time on her appearance, she is usually still quite a sight.

outwardly: De is that girl that most people can only stand in small doses. She's somewhat loud and always opinionated although she generally won't spout her messages of equality unless someone else brings it up in conversation first. Believe it or not, she prides herself in not being preachy although some of her classmates might beg to differ.
inwardly: De's biggest personal concern is her weight, which she has trouble with sometimes because of her serious addiction to sweets. It doesn't help that her father constantly brings home treats.

history.

De was the second child born to Ambrosius and Estelle Flume, just as their business was getting underway. She grew up in Honeydukes, running around the back room, always getting into some sticky mess or another. Her mother came from a Muggle background and she made sure to raise De with a open mind and a frankness for the way reality worked. It was Estelle who really encouraged De to march to the beat of her own drum from an early age. There were never many expectations for her so long as she could behave somewhat and let her parents work. It was her brother Teegan who was the pride and joy of the family but that turned sour when he ran off with a Muggle and neglected his responsibilities at the store. Ambrosius was not happy with his son and they haven't spoken since.

For the most part then, De had a happy childhood and couldn't wait to treck off to Hogwarts and follow in her brother's footsteps. Sure enough she was sorted into Gryffindor as most of the Flumes before her and immediately settled into school life. She loved the company the big school provided and began sticking up for her classmates almost immediately when they were picked on as first years. She quickly earned a reputation for speaking her mind and made some fast friends.

De soon realized that although life in Hogwarts seemed untainted by the commotion just outside it's walls, soon enough there would be trouble as Voldemort and his followers gained power. Now that her friends are being directly targeted, De is determined to stand up for the Muggleborns of the world despite what happened to Melinda McKinnon, her greatest role model.

Gryffindor Aquarius: Gryffindor Aquarians are the social activists and loons of their House. They'll picket for House Elf Liberation. They'll wear their robes inside out because they spent all night reading, not pay attention to how they dressed the next day, and not care if their rumpled appearance is pointed out to them. They are intellectual rebels and will loudly defend their opinions, even if doing so makes enemies. They are apt to question authority. "Even Merlin was wrong, some of the time," they'll say, shrugging. history.

Bobby is the second child of a family that never thought they would see wizards again. Her paternal great-grandmother was a Muggleborn witch who married a Squib from the House of Burke. None of their children have been wizards since and it was assumed that the magic had simply run out.

Tony had only heard stories about his family's involvement with magic and he assumed that once Mayson was born, his family too had been spared the pain. However, as Bobby grew up, Tony's worst fears were recognized as she made the cookies jump out of the jar and her toddler tantrums rocked the house.

When Bobby's letter from Hogwarts came, the Dunstans had a lot of choices to weigh. Finally they decided the best way to keep their daughter from hurting herself or anyone else would be to allow to her to attend. Tony and Dina were fearful the first time they sent their daughter off on the scarlet train but everything seemed to be going very well as she returned home each summer, their cheerful funny little girl.

Again however, the Dunstan's perfect world was turned upside down when their baby daughter Tallis jumped off the roof of the shed when she was just two. She landed in the neighbor's yard much to Tony's dismay. Their Muggle neighbors began to get suspicious and some unsavory characters started lurking about. The Dunstans feared that the turmoil going on in the Wizarding World was beginning to leak into their own lives. It was with heavy consciences that they allowed Bobby to return for her 6th year.

That was probably the most difficult school year out of the bunch for Bobby. She knew her parents would have preferred her to be at home but she also knew that school was the most important thing she could be doing with her time. She was part of the next generation that had to stop all this nonsense. Slowly but surely things got worse however and although no one mentioned it when she arrived home in June, the Dunstans were not already too keen on sending their daughter back to Hogwarts for her final year.

Bobby was not able to keep the instatement of the M.A.G.I.C. act from her parents for very long. They were outraged at the way she had been treated and swore that Tallis would never be brought up as a witch, no matter the cost. A world that discriminated against those who weren't born of magic families was outrageous. In addition, they forbid Bobby to return to Hogwarts for her 7th year.

Hufflepuff Libra : Libras sorted into House Hufflepuff are some of the sweetest, most charming individuals you will ever meet. They work hard at their studies compared to other Libras (most Libras would rather coast on their strengths than apply themselves to all their subjects) and are often quite successful. Ugh, can't believe June is nearly OVER! Right-o though.

Orpheus will be comitting the McKinnon murder shortly. Cue wife fights, emo characterizations, some sister bonding and some brother-in-law-off-pissing before the big event. This shall require some plottage con Cor which I need to get my act together on.

George is looking into Quidditch teams in the states. She's a prefect, will be getting that letter in august. Not sure how her summer is going to go. Looking for lots of practice time and some friendships. She could also use a boyfriend but that's up in the air right now. At least someone to fool around with.

Luci will have her brother as a house guest for a bit until he gets his own place. She might have a bun in the oven soon and start looking for some settling down. She's going to need a stable man with a solid income so she can stop all this drug business. She knows Antonin really doesn't like it but she won't stop the cash flow.

Klio is obessessing about Head Girl. Letters August 1 so she's a bit crazed although looking forward to having some down time this summer with the girls. Not sure how its going to go in the fall with Phoebe since one of them can't be Head Girl if the other one gets it. Emailing mods to discuss Klio's options/possibilities/pleas as HG.

CiCe is just sort of doing her own thing. She's also looking for a boyfriend but in her case its because she's jealous of all her friends from Hogwarts getting married and having babies. She wants to start a family and the maternal clock is ticking away for her. Not sure where that's all going to go but for now she's got the escort service she's working on to worry about. She's making some money and times are going well. She just wants to be romanced by a tall dark stranger though, rather than have to do all the work.

That seems to account for everyone. Questions/Comments/Concerns get at me.

George grew up in a lenient family and with four older brothers she constantly tagged along after. Updated all the profiles so now they match. Check it out peeps. I'm feeling very accomplished.

Also, a new character on the way for me, Georgiana (called George) Ferris. Look for her just as soon as I have that username. PB is Jena Malone who is quite pretty I think but a bit tomboyish. Plottage is always a must. She's going to be a 7th year Slytherin, same year as Klio, Pheebs, Ashlyn, Meredith etc.

Just sort of fucking around with things for a bit. I'm working at IT this summer so I essentially spend my day in front of the computer. I wish I was being more active in Valesco but I'm feeling so character uninspired right now.

I updated some profiles and the TRAVERS family page which was fun. A few new icons as well. Just some small housekeeping stuff. I also edited the family trees a bit, which I should put up but are on the main valesco tree-site-thing. Yeah, that's essentially my life right now. I'm so boring it's probably contagious.

Etymology!

Klio - An alternative spelling of Clio, the Muse of history. In Greek mythology, Clio (Greek: Κλειώ, pronounced /'klaɪoʊ/ in English) or Kleio is the muse of history. Like all the muses, she is a daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne. She had one son, Hyacinth, with the King of Macedonia, Pierus. Some sources say she was also the mother of Hymenaios. She is often represented with a parchment scroll or a set of tablets and is also known as the Proclaimer. The name is from the root κλέω/κλείω, meaning "recount" or "make famous".

Klio is named for her mother Calliope's baby sister Klio who died as an infant. The Parnassus sisters (as well as Sol's sisters) are named for the Muses.

Lyra - The name of the constellation in the northern sky containing the star Vega. It is said to be shaped after the lyre of Orpheus. For millennia, Lyra was shown as a vulture or an eagle, and thus the bird was frequently shown with a lyre enclosed in its wings, though often in its beak. Cicero: a Roman cognomen which meant "chickpea" from Latin cicer.

So, new layout for Miss Brie, so excited! I finally have surrendered to S2 so please let me know how it looks. It took me forever to figure out how to change the sizes of the sidebar (like WTF, it was in 4 places!!!) but it looks alright in Firefox which is the browser I use. Lemme know if it looks excessively stupid in IE or whatever your fancy is. I also updated my personal journal so all is going well on this front I suppose.

I'm thinking about working on a Travers family page as well as some more profile additions for CiCe. But I'm supposed to be doing homework tonight so I'm not sure how much time I will actually devote to the site. Probably more than I ought however.

Speaking of work, the next two weeks or so are going to be brutal for me but after that I start my summer job where I shall sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day and get paid. So I shall be paid to post at Valesco and my life will utterly be fantastic once again. Until then, I'm around. Travers wedding posts should probably occur this weekend?? Hum hum. Well I've been sick lately. On again off again until this weekend when I had to be 'supervised' for my 102+ fever. Honestly, as much as I'm bemoaning it all now, it really was good I went to get checked out. The night before it probably had been even higher. Blegh.

Um so yeah. I have two weeks of school left then this summer starts. Summer should be really good for me as far as Valesco goes because I've taken a job here at school, sitting on the computer all day! So I should be around loads. Which is good since this will be Orpheus' last summer :( AND he's supposed to get MARRIED! Which Cor, I swear, we can do. Even if it's just a *hums the wedding song* - which it might end up being.

So Klio is just around. Orpheus is sulking about the wedding. Luci is working on Jamacia and how living with Lydia the past little bit is affecting her. Should be funnnn. And I'm actually thinking about picking some peoples up, since I've been looking at PBs and I'm like OMGAHH SO CUTE I WANT YOU NOW. ahem. Which happens way more often than you'd think actually.

I've been thinking lately, which is never a good thing. Miss Luci needs plottage. I'm thinking that the perfect, or I guess worst, thing that could happen is having a baby. Which in her case would essentially blow. I just need to now come up with:

A. a father, preferably one who is married and in need of offspring for the trio era, preferably muggleborn or of tainted blood
B. a plausable story of how this lovely gift came about, most likely a long time client (or perhaps a one night stand)
C. needs to happen sometime soon, or have happened recently, since age-wise i've got a limited window of opportunity for said insemination to occur to allow for optimum gesation period
D. I'm getting a little too into this I think :D

Suggestions? Takers? This is all quite new having been thought up in the past hour or so and me having no AIM to bounce around ideas while at home on my own easter holiday.
