The war is over. Years have passed. The outcome is blurred. There are no records-- they're being kept secret. The survivors, they know. They know what happened. But they will not tell.

They have their reasons.

(The following events take place after the raid on North American Branch. Like many other events, the results of the invasion are privy, and few people who know about it will share details.)

During the last year of the war, the Grand Generals were frantic to get every Exorcist towards 100% synchronization. They began experimenting once more. After months of studying (reluctant, on the part of some scientists), the Order came up with a possible solution.

Forcing people to synchronize would not work; those experiments ended long ago.

This time, it was to take equipment-type Innocence and implant it into the bodies of their conformers.

The first subject was Yuu Kanda. But he had technically already gone through something similar as a child, so his results, while kept, were disregarded.

The next was Noise Marie. A success.

Then Chaoji Han. Success, but only barely.

A few months of observation, and Miranda Lotto was next. A complete, wonderful success.

Activation times were cut down by at least 70%, synchro rates raised by an average of 10%-25%. It was like a miracle.

No one noticed Yuu Kanda slowly seeing more and more of those lotuses. No one paid attention when Noise Marie began hearing odd sounds that no one else could hear. No one worried much when Chaoji Han complained of pain in his hands, wrist, arms, and shoulders.

No one thought anything when Miranda Lotto began forgetting what time or day it was.

So they continued the experiments. Linali was the last of the regular Exorcists to go through the operation.

They brushed the pangs in her legs off as post-surgery pains.

Then the Generals.

Winters Zokaro began experiencing slight waves of nausea and vertigo a month after his surgery. Froi Tiedoll blamed his stiff joints on the fact that age was starting to catch up with him. Klaud Nyne was, luckily, exempt. (Her pet monkey, however, was not.)

Cross Marian was, as well. He was still missing.

Timothy Hearst, and Aleister Krory (or however you want to spell his name) did not undergo the operation. They were already parasitic-types. They did, however, have to go through a quick study. Scientists found a way to further connect the body to the Innocence, since they weren't really full parasitic-types.

Aleister figured his tired jaw was due to being overworked. Timothy's migraines weren't serious.

Nothing was that serious.

Not until the war ended.

After the experiments conducted during the last year of the War, Kanda no longer carries Mugen around with him anymore.

The sword was carefully broken down into shards and implanted into both of Kanda's arms, going up to his shoulders, circling around back, and ending at his spine. He can activate one sword or both with little difficulty, though the repercussions vary either way.

At first it was just a slight increase in the lotuses in his vision. Near the end of the War, however, some of them started growing and dying right before him.

Now, years after the War is over, he's taken to methodically stomping on any of the flowers in his way. Occasionally, he loses feeling in one or both arms temporarily. Or just the opposite-- intense pain shooting up along his arm where the Innocence is inlaid.

His previous life's memories are melding with the present ones. His past life and his present one.. he can't distinguish between them. He switches between Kanda and-- whomever he was before. Whatever his life was.

Sometimes he wakes up thinking Edgar is still alive.

He hates it.

But he still can't curse the God who brought it upon him.

The war is over. There's no more fighting. No more dying. Just a cold and broken

↵ Allen Walker creates the gate to Martel for Yuu Kanda and Alma Karma, and is imprisoned for doing so. Events up until this point are located here.
↵ The Cardinal attempts to do his thing and absorb Crown Clown (or whatever, i don't even know), but is interrupted by Noahs Tyki Mikk and Rhode Kamelot. True to canon, Allen Walker breaks out of his imprisonment with Tyki Mikk and Rhode Kamelot. Lenalee Lee catches up and witnesses Allen leaving through a gate made by the Ark.
↵ Search parties are sent out to find Ex-Exorcist Allen Walker.

↵ Fighting continues, Allen is still missing.
↵ April: The Order changes goals. Search parties are informed to switch to looking for Yuu Kanda and Alma Karma.
↵ At the same time, a large majority of the Black Order scientists are instructed research ways to implant Innocence into human bodies with minimal side effects.
↵ November: Search locations narrowed down to Asia and Italy. All Exorcists and Finders sent to these regions are told to ask around for a long haired Oriental (Japanese) man. This proves futile, as Kanda has not been active at all since arriving in Martel.
↵ Mid-December: Breakthroughs in studies at the Black Order. Research speeds up.

1897
↵ March: Yuu Kanda is found in the abandoned town of Martel, Italy, mostly turned to stone.
↵ Research begins on an older model regeneration charm to find ways to make it start up again.
↵ Testing on Kanda's regeneration charm to reactivate it begins. Several weeks later, there is success in the laboratory.
↵ Early August: The charm is juiced back up and placed back in Kanda's body. His body returns back to a more natural flesh-form instead of stone-like, and his hair returns to dark blue/black. However, he is still comatose.
↵ While he is comatose, scientists carry out tests to find out his synchronization level with the deteriorated Mugen. Percentage is in the middle, but not completely gone.
↵ A week later, Kanda regains consciousness. After another week of recovery, he is taken into custody for interrogation.
↵ Interrogation proves useless. Kanda is sent off to have his memories sealed up once more. The spell is purposefully botched; Kanda pretends it worked.
↵ June: Mugen is broken down into shards and surgically implanted into his arms starting at the wrists and going up, then curving down to his shoulder blades. No signs of rejection are reported.
↵ Physical therapy begins after a week of observation and is done alongside training with Mugen again. Both are completed by mid-October.
