The Wakandan Royal Palace is a hotbed of activity today; servants run back and forth, measuring and adjusting, shifting things about and preparing the great hall. Cleaning is done from the floors to the rafters, while everyone sings songs of joy and laughter echoes about from the walls. The people of Wakanda love this work, as it is all for their beloved king, who is soon to marry the woman of his dreams.
T’Challa, Chieftain of the Panther Tribe and King of Wakanda, hears the joyous singing and wishes he could be out there among his people, enjoying the cool breezes. Instead, he sits in his War Room as his advisors and Cabinet address various issues of state for the King’s consideration. One of his Cabinet members, Mubaru, is currently discussing a topic that T’Challa knows will become an issue sooner rather than later.
“…therefore I believe it is in Wakanda’s best interests to seek diplomatic relations with Genosha, and discuss trade with Magneto.” Murbaru says. There are murmurs of shock and consternation from the others, but T’Challa sits quietly, taking everything in.
“I will consider this matter more after rest. Thank you all for your time.” T’Challa says, once the murmurs have died down. He exits the room and then heads to his chambers, asking someone to find Ororo for him. As they are not yet married, they cannot share a bed, but she can come and see him whenever she desires. When she arrives, he will be standing on the balcony of his suite, staring out into the Wakandan night.
He smells her and hears the light falls of her footsteps before she opens the door. He smiles and his tensed shoulders relax somewhat.
“I missed you today, Ororo, very much.” he says, finally turning to look at her.
“Are you well, my betrothed?”
