Walden's parents didn't have the most typical relationship, but he grew up knowing they cared about each other in a weird way. Even if his father had all sorts of odd prejudices, his mother was a kind, caring woman who made sure Walden knew his father cared for them both, and that Walden had a more open mind than his father did.
Walden knew he had half-brothers, but he didn't really get a chance to meet them when he was growing up. Rider he met once, but then his father took the boy back home to his mother. Radley he never got to meet, but he saw some pictures of him when he was young.
Walden's mother made sure Walden went to a good school. She made sure Walden was treated fairly, despite his size and the prejudices that naturally came with it. She made sure he had a good life, and Walden adored her for it. He never really had the same connection with his father, but that was okay with him. Walden grew up intelligent and strong and well-adjusted.
It was his father that sparked Walden's interest in psychotherapy. His mother had told him a little about his father's childhood, and that little seemed to have made Walden Sr. what he was today. Walden entered Cambridge University on scholarship and started studying psychology, finishing his first degree in record time and then starting in on his PhD, about early childhood experiences and the effect they have on people as adults. His research and interest in becoming a practicing psychoanalyst are what landed him the internship at Sacred Springs and he's looking forward to working with the patients and getting to know them.
