[16 Oct 2011|05:39pm]
When Julian had returned Edmund's old assets in Leland Enterprises, Edmund promptly moved out of the crummy apartment. Still, he wasn't one to mingle with the rich and famous either. So his new place was fairly upscale, but nothing too noticeable about it. Sheek without being pretentious. Plus in this neighborhood it blended in enough to give Edmund a good sense of security. Julian was out of town on business, so Edmund had been keeping his eye on a few things for him. Right now he was considering a nap. It had been far too long since he was in a comfortable enough position to afford one..at least he was until the doorbell rang.

A Tense Encounter [01 Jul 2011|10:53pm]
Edmund was tired, annoyed, aching, and damn glad to be back home. Carter Howard was dead, though the bastard hadn't gone quietly. After his trip down south, Edmund was going to get a change of clothes and call in to Minnie and Julian that the job was done. Edmund hadn't anticipated someone was already waiting for him in the room. Eddie was about to use his powers when the voice said: "I wouldn't." Eddie heard the click of safety's being taken off. How the hell did a bunch of guys with guns sneak into his room!?

"Who the hell are you and what do you want?"

The man took out a cigarette and lit it. "Who I am isn't important, who I represent is. I believe you're familiar with Mr. Delacroix?"

Edmund stopped whatever comeback he'd been preparing upon hearing that name. The man was a fairly minor New York Congressman.  At least, that's what he had most people believing. "What does he want with me?"

"Not you, Mr. Leland, your boss. My employer's people have informed him that the Hellfire Club's been looking into things regarding the upcoming election. Mr. Delacroix finds this..disconcerting. He dislikes outside figures involving themselves in his arena of influence. He had an arrangement with the late Sebastian Shaw, but felt that perhaps Mr. Gallo will stick to his own affairs. The situation must be corrected."

"Gallo? Julian Howard runs the Club now, there's no Gallo in it." Edmund knew there was little point in lying or bluffing these people.

The man across from him just smiled. "It matters little what your king calls himself. Mr. Delacroix desires a meeting, a new agreement drawn up. I suggest you make you this known."

Edmund was getting pissed off. He knew Delacroix's rep, the guy was a political boogyman that made the CIA look upfront in comparison. "Are you threatening me? Are you threatening my friends? Because I can promise you and your boss that won't go over well."

The man causally removes a folder from his jacket and slings it across the nearby table. Edmund picks it up and his eyes widen. In it were documents of of all sorts of under the table agreements the Howards had ran run over the years, including less than legal ones. Behind those was made Edmund begin to clench his teeth. There was a photo of Minnie along with a complete dossier detailing her involvement with the Howard family as well as her status as a mutant. Finally there was a another photo of a young boy standing next to a tall pale woman. Edmund knew them instantly, the boy was Julian, the woman was his mother. Attached to the photo were doctors' tests, including parental DNA.

"How the fu..?

"Again Mr. Leland the 'how' isn't important. What is is this: If your 'king'," the man says the title with the amount of respect one would say "shit". "doesn't cooperate completely with us, the documents will be exposed to the media, this intelligence on your friend goes straight to the L.O.H.N., and these paternity tests are on a one-way trip to Genosha. Are we clear?"

For a moment Edmund is deadly quiet before speaking. "What's to stop me from just killing you here."

The man gulps, but continues. "These are just copies, Mr. Delacroix has the real ones. Even so, you'd find these copies are far more sophisticated than your average forgery. Kill us and it all goes out. There's no reason we can't be civil, but we also want your boss to understand just who he'd be fucking with if he chooses not to cooperate with us. You can keep these copies, we'e got others."

The men calmly made their exit, leaving Edmund alone in his room. Edmund breathes heavily, holding back his anger. He quickly dials the number on his cellphone and hopes the other line is there.

Alternate Past: Hail to the Bishop, Baby [28 Jun 2011|01:48pm]
He had to admit, part of him still couldn't believe he was really here. Years after he'd been forced to leave his home, robbed of his inheritance, he was now in his father's old office. After Shaw stole his inheritance, Edmund had become a professional assassin, hoping to curry influence and favors from the world's shadowy power players in hopes that one day he could return home and take back what was stolen from him. Apparently his reputation had gotten the attention of someone he hadn't seen in years, his old friend, Julian Howard. After reuniting, Julian presented him with a plan that would bring down Shaw. Julian's plan was risky, but Edmund had to admit, he was tired of waiting. Shaw was going down. It had worked out better than he could have hoped. Shaw was finally gone and Julian promptly returned Harry Leland's assets to Edmund. Being a part of the Hellfire Club, the way his father had always intended for him, had lit a fire under Edmund, and it wasn't long before he gained his dad's old title of Black Bishop. Edmund had everything he had always wanted, wealth, power, respect, and a permanent place to call home. For the first time in a long time, Edmund felt truly happy. He sat back in his office chair, and just took a moment to relax and take things in.

1. Truth or Dare: Post a scene idea as a dare. It can be in-canon, or it can be AU. You can challenge any of mine with any of yours. I can take the dare, or turn it down, by offering an honest in character answer to any question you want to ask. If I take the dare, you can set up the scene and we'll play through it.

2. Putting the 'R' in RP: So most of the time, rp comes down to casual social or big mod-run plots. This is neither, so let's spice it up. Your dare-scene challenge must involve either A. gratuitous violence, B. gratuitous nudity (I'm willing to play out sex scenes if they make sense, or hint at them) C. gratuitous crack. - because these aren't going through moderation, they can't really change anything, no new powers, no big item acquisitions, but gratuitous hero battles or villain of the week-ish stuff should be okay. Multiple choices from A, B and C are also possible.

3. Pay it Forward: As usual, if you take this challenge and post a scene idea, you also need to put this up in one of your journals, and offer some or all of yours up for scene challenges. Now the tricky part - if I take a dare, I will temp at least one of the NPCs needed, if any are. I will not require you to NPC for me, no. Instead, you must temp at least one NPC in any dares you take.
And, why yes, this is an effort to get people to temp occasional npcs for others in order to encourage RP. You have an easy out in any scenes you're truly not comfortable with - you can always take 'truth', and I may, not every scene will fit my characters or my fancy... but the idea is still to encourage rp, get people doing scenes and playing with characters, whether AU or our canon, and doing the little things to help get scenes going.

My characters potentially up for this:

Keji Oyama - Lord Deathstrike
Sengai Senyaka
Zviad Mikahilovich - Crimson Dynamo
Edmund Leland
Sarita Baker - Sandgirl
Maximillian Sivana
Jacob Rothstein
Orgo

Damn it was hot. Edmund tried to banish this thought from his mind, but even at night it was frikkin' hot. Part of him just wanted to cave in the whole house's ceiling and be done with it. Then again, Edmund's professionalism kept him from going the lazy man's route.

Calling a Friend [14 Jun 2011|03:23am]

Edmund was still a tad giddy after his meeting at the Outcast. First he finds out that the guy who hired him was one of his oldest friends and then he finds out he can finally join the Club and work for the spot his dad had intended. He had to talk to someone and one name immediately came to mind, Carrie Hidalgo aka The Iguana. Like him she was a professional mutant assassin. The two were close, probably closer than two people in their line of work should be, but Edmund didn't care. Carrie was someone he needed, a peer he could trust and talk with, as well as the occasional erotic encounter. He fired up his Skype, hoping she'd be available to talk.

He didn't have to wait long as the other end came on. On the other end was green-scaled woman with long black hair and slitted gold eyes. Her face was more humanlike, but with a faint reptilian shape, but not unattractive. Not at all. Edmund considered her a true exotic beauty. He couldn't see it at the moment but he knew she also had a tail she could efficiently use while fighting along with a pair of genuine claws. "Edmund, do you know what time it is?"  Her voice had a hint of a Portugese accent, betraying her Brazilian origins. It also had a hint of the teasing he had long come to associate with her. She was happy to see him, she just wouldn't admit it outright.

"Sorry, Carrie. Did I wake you up?"

"No," she said slyly. "The two gentlemen I had been entertaining kept me up so I was fresh for your call."

Edmund raised an eyebrow. "Are we talking business or pleasure?"

She laughed throatily. Her laughter had a hissing tinge too it, which was actually pretty pleasant to the ear. "Business, Edmund. You know I'm not one to entertain strange men."

"Except those who can kick your ass." Edmund teased, referring to how they first met.

"Hmmph," She turned her head up in mock indignation. "From what I remember I spent half the time kicking yours." Her tone then turned downright sensual. "Besides, I thought you liked my ass? Didn't you once tell me I should have it insured?"

Edmund laughed heartily. He'd been a little tipsy that night and perhaps a little too blunt. Fortunately Carrie was the same way and he hadn't offended her. She was quite a woman. For pehaps the hundreth time he considered what a real relationship between the two would be like. He cared about her more than most people and he was pretty sure she felt the same. But the fact they were both killers, professionals. They were both careerists and neither would put themselves before their work. Edmund shook off the thought as he realized Carrie was speaking.

"So why'd you call, Ed? Is the Fizzini woman done with you yet?" There was a very slight hint of possessiveness in Carrie's tone that pleased him to no end. The two were by no means exclusive, both have had their share of lovers. In fact they'd sometimes compare encounters together. Lucretia Fizzini was a family friend who became a much-closer aquaintance, but of the older cougar persuasion. He was fond of Lucretia, like how a student was fond of a favorite teacher. Carrie knew that, she just liked to rag on him. She said it was the animal part of her being territorial.

"Yeah, that's been done. I wanted to tell you that I may have a new permanent gig. I met up with a girl at a burlesque club who offered me a job for her employer. Turns out her employer was my old friend, Julian Howard. And an even bigger revelation, he's head of the Hellfire Club now and I've been invited back in."

Carrie was silent for a moment. "You mean, you finally got your inheritance back?" The excitement in her voice was unmistakable. He had told her everyhing about what had happened in his life. Another indication of her special place in his affections.

"I gotta work my way to it, but Carrie..I can finally come home. Shaw's gone, I feel freer than I have been in a long time! Julian's putting me on retainer so I can still work, but I'm in!"

Carrie smiled, revealing her sharper than average teeth. Most would have found it intimidating, Edmund personally liked seeing her smile. "Good for you. It's about time something went well for you." She seemed a little downcast for a moment. "We will still be able to hang out and do stuff together?" Carrie wasn't one for being mushy. Basically what she meant was "quality time".

"Hell yes we will. In fact..." Edmund thought a minute. "Why don't you come up? I can make arrangements so that you don't have to worry about some bigot humans. I'd really like to celebrate with you."

He could see the war in her face, the professional battling the woman for who would get the final say. Finally she looked back at him, it was downright smoldering. He knew which side had won. "Make the arrangements. And get a soundproof room. I intend to make noise."

She grinned as she abruptly shut her skype off, deliberately leaving him with that oh so hot image in his head. Edmund dashed from his desk, he had plans to put in motion.

Taking in a Show [07 Jun 2011|02:38pm]
Edmund had been in New York for only a short time. Generally he avoided coming here, but when a pretty mob princess offers you a high-paying job to kill the guy who had her father murdered, you make an exception. He hadn't see hide or hair of any potential Hellfire Club agents. Maybe Shaw forgot about him or more likely just didn't care anymore. Edmund decided it was time for some much needed downtime. In jeans, t-shirt, and leather vest, he looked like just another biker as he walked up to the entrance to the dance club.

"Looks promising," He said to himself as he made his way in. A smile practically split his face as he caught sight of the dancers on stage. "Oh yeah, definitely promising." He pays the entry fee and takes a seat at the bar. "I'll have a Pepsi, or Coke if you don't serve it."

"What are you, twelve?" The bartender began to mock before Edmund grabbed him by the collar and brought them face to face.

"Do you have any, or not?"

"Yes sir. Sorry sir."

Edmund let the man go  and turned to take in the show.

Edmund Leland App [07 Jun 2011|01:18pm]
Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Paul E
Email: Have it
AIM (if you have one): same as email
Character Name: Edmund Leland
Character LJ (if applicable): weighed_down
Physical description (face, build, weight): 6'2, 306 lbs. Looks fat, but in fact most of it's muscle.
Age: 24
Birthday: February 10
PB: (If using one.) Windham Rotundo (aka Husky Harris)
Powers: He shares his father's mutant ability to increase the mass of any person or object within 350 feet of him. However as he is younger and in better shape, he can push his powers to limits his father could not.  One of the innovations he's created is that upon striking a target and increasing the mass of his own fist for a second before impact, he can increase the force of the blow in proportion to how much mass he puts into it. He compares the effect to a loaded boxing glove. He is steadily learning to decrease mass, but he finds it much more difficult to do than adding on.
Abilities: Edmund learned everything he could about how his father died and vowed he wouldn't die from poor health. As a result, Edmund has built his built up his body to the point where it is more muscle than fat. He is also an experienced street-fighter and has his own unique style that takes advanatge of his size and deceptive speed.
Enhancements: When Edmund was younger, his father began taking him to the Hellfire Club so he could acclimatize Edmund to his future. Cautious that one of the Club's telepaths may use their powers against his son Harry, at great expense, had a state of the art chip placed inside Edmund's skull. The chip gives off a signal that disrupts any attempted telepathic intrusionsinto Leland's brain.
Weaknesses and flaws: He may be healthier than his dad was when he died, but his power still puts a strain on him if too much is used too fast. If he does, then he will pass out from the strain. His ability to lessen mass is  rudimentary and usually doesn't work to his satisfaction. And like his father before him, Edmund is a hedonist. He doesn't smoke or use alcohol, since that would ruin his hard work in building himself up, but he does have a weakness for women. While not foolish enough to be manipulated by one, Edmund may otherwise take a job he'd normally turn down if it was presented by a beautiful woman.
Character location/Home: New York
Alignment (villain, hero etc):Anti-villain (mostly villain, but with some positive traits)
Relatives (living/dead?): Harry Leland (father, deceased) Martha Leland (mother, deceased)

Backstory:
Edmund Leland is the only son of Harry Leland and his wife, Martha. Martha died giving birth to Edmund, and as such Harry doted upon his son as he was all harry had of his late wife. Harry never remarried, not wishing to replace Martha, and became increasingly hedonistic in his pursuit for gratification. As a result he left the majority of Edmund's schooling and care to private tutors and nannies, though he always made it a point to spend quality time with his son, and as Edmund got older, Harry began to groom him to take over his assets and eventually have him inducted into the Hellfire Club. However that all changed when his father died battling Nimrod. Shaw had Harry's will stolen and forged, leaving all his wealth to Shaw Industries.Edmund fled the city, knowing he couldn't face Shaw, then.Edmund then spent the rest of his life training his body and honing his powers, becoming a freelance assassin. He built up various contacts and saved a considerable fortune, determined to one day take back what's rightfully his from Shaw, and to make those he feels responsible for his father's death pay.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Hired by the new Hellfire Club leadership for a job, which would reunite him with childhood aquaintance, Julian Gallo.
What are you planning to do with this character? He still acts as a freelance assassin and could be hired by any number of villainous factions as he has a reptuation of getting the job done though freelance stuff may decrease depending on how welcoming the new Club is.
What do you want to see happen with this character?:To become a prominent member of the new Hellfire Club leadership and to aid Julian in his ambitions.
