1) When evidence of an illegal underground mutant fighting ring pops up, Cyclops dispatches X-Force to investigate. With the girls posing as a wrestling team and Joey as their manager, getting in turns out to be surprisingly easy.

2) At first, the girls compete in a few matches and not much seems wrong. Until contestants start literally burning themselves out, their bodies destroying themselves in fire. This causes quite the panic in some of the competition.

3) Talking with some of the more nervous types reveals that many of them were not mutants until very recently, that they are on some new drug workings its way around.

4) When Magneta and her X-Tremists show up to some of the fights, it becomes clear that they're the ones running things, having gained some results from the Providence mission. Magneta speaks to all those assembled of it being a kind of test, that those who survive the changes are worthy of being mutants.

5) X-Force vs. X-Tremists and other powered competitors, some of whom burn themselves out. The X-tremists are beaten but escape. At least, though, the ring is shut down.

6) Stopping the drug becomes X-Force's number one priority.

Assessment:

--Background
Rose first appeared during the start of the year, having apparently been transported here via the N'Garai cairn which has appeared on the Mansion grounds in the past with alarming frequency. With little ability to return her to her own universe--I'm given to understand from the Avengers that these transdimensional transits are becoming increasingly common--we had little choice but to offer her a home and place here. Logan was happy enough to take her under his wing and into his family. Jean maintains a cordial, if somewhat strained relationship with her, finding similar difficulties in forging a relationship with her as she did with the time-traveling Rachel when they first met.

By most of her accounts, the universe Rose comes from is not overly different from this one, save for two primary things. One, Xaiver's purpose as a haven for mutants had become a well known and public fact, larging owing to a force outing of the school durring a confrontation with Magneto, and two, that very few individuals of my generation are married to or in relationships with the same people as they are in this universe. The additions of Anastasia, Braddock, and Gretchen as well as information gathered from their individual debriefings proves this to be accurate. The second matter if a trivial one, even as it raises a variety of questions for those of us who find ourselves with "new children". The first matter, however, is one worth greater thought. Judging by what the four have told us, the revelation of the school's purpose seems to have made matters easier, rather than worse, for the mutant population of that world. However, in the wake of Fargo, it is not an option we can consider at this time.

--Scholastic Achievement
Rose reluctantly agreed to continue attending classes here in this universe, despite initial protestations that such wouldn't count in any significant way. That the suggestion came from Jean went a long way towards persuading her, I believe. While I do not have Rose in any of the classes that I teach, I have conferenced with her teachers to put together a brief assessment for this file. Accordingly, Rose commits herself enough to her studies to be passing in some classes, but makes it rather clear that she knows that is exactly what she is doing.
Rose is, however, excelling in her ethics classes (much to my surprise), and also performed quite well in the history and Asian Literature classes she took in the past semester.

--Personal Assessment
Looking back over my initial assessments of Rose, I find the language used to be nearly identical to the language I used when first describing Logan. "Openly defiant." "No respect for authority." "Consistantly working to undermind authority." "Openly hostile." If there's a rule, Rose will likely try to break it. If she's told to do something, she's just as likely to do the opposite. Her hostility often seems to be directed at me in particular, or at her new "sister" Rachel when the opportunity presents itself. That Rachel usually refuses to rise to the bait seems to be only be incentive for her to try harder. I've often pondered if the Scott Summers of her universe didn't simply send her here to buy himself some peace and have contemplated sending him Rufus in retaliation.

Take all of Logan's qualities and then filter them through a teenage girl who had been raised by Logan. That's Rose. Blunt, brutally honest and direct, and utterly willing to speak her mind.

Logan believes--and Hank's examinations of her back this up--that not all of Rose's disposition issues are her fault. Possessing nearly all of the same mutations as Logan himself, this includes heightened animalistic instincts and temperment, making the Rose we usually see an exercise in self-control. Rose rigorously pushes herself, through exercise and meditation, to maintain that state of balance. I suppose we should count ourselves lucky she is not worse.

This is not to say Rose is entirely a socially maladjusted misfit. Her friendship with Anastsia is quite sisterly, though she claims that is "in spite" of Anastasia's Summers herritage. She was good friends with Jake Wagner and took his death especially hard. And, of course, there is her relationship with St. John Allerdyce, Jr., or "Joey." Fraternization between the students here is to be expected, but it is unexpected to say the least in this case.

--Field Assessment
Rose served with the primary Gold Squad before being tapped into the X-Force team. While I initially objected to the formation of the team with concern over its membership, she and they have begun to prove themselves an effective unit. Rose herself has shown time and time again a willingness to putherself in the line of fire for her friends and for those she does not even know. Despite her feral nature, she has always acted to wound rather than to kill when confronting various threats, though she has added the caveat, "You'd be surprised what you can life through".

Rose's healing factor and senses make her ideal for field work, especially on those missions requiring tracking. Her training, fighting skills, and claws make her extremely useful in combat, and her overall stubborn nature insures that she will never give up once given a goal. She may object to being told how to do something, but I have little doubt that if you set her to a goal, it will be done.

During the Fargo mission, Rose survived extremely traumatic injuries that would have been fatal had the occured to virtually anyone else. Caught in a gas main explosion, she was set on fire and received significant burns over the entirety of her body, resulting in her being forced to regrow all of her epidermal layer as well as all of her hair. Not only was she mobile when this happened, but she remained rational and functional. The healing itself took only a few hours and her only complaint was that she was "itchy" for several days afterward. If she found the experience to be traumatic, I have yet to see signs of it.

--Final Assessment
My personal issues with Rose aside, I am ultimately convinced that she remains an asset to this school and its various field organizations. It is becoming an increasingly complex world and I am fully prepared to admit that there are some things the majority of the X-Men, young and old, are not prepared to handle. In trying to teach a world of black and white, it is useful to have someone who is comfortable operating in shades of gray.

The X-Tremists

Magneta

Real Name: Sofia Lehnsherr (believed to be an assumed name)

Age: 24

History: Little verifiable is known of the women who calls herself Magneta, though she claims to be the daughter of former mutant terrorist Magneto. SHIELD and other peace-keeping organizations, however, believe this to be a false claim, though whether or not she herself is aware of this and simply using it for effect or is operating under false information is unknown. It is most speculated that she is the daughter of Zaladane, conceived during the period when she had stolen Polaris’s magnetic abilities.

What is known is that she first appeared three years ago, conducting various acts of small-scale mutant terrorism. She was able to evade capture and remains one of the more wanted mutant criminals in the world. It is generally assumed Magneto finds her to be beneath his notice.

In the time since her first appearance, she has continued to consolidate her power-base and has amassed a team of followers, along with picking up pieces of cast-off technology, including a teleportation system.

Powers: Magneta possesses magnetic abilities similar to those of Magneto and Polaris.

Lady Mastermind

Real Name: Elizabeth Harris

Age: 21

History: One of innumerable illegitimate offspring of Jason Wyngarde, the newest woman to call herself Lady Mastermind discovered her powers at a young age, using them as a very successful con artist. She was eventually found out and caught by the authorities, where upon she was freed and recruited by Magneta.

Powers: Lady Mastermind possesses the power to create telepathic illusions in a manner similar to her father and other relatives. Hers possess a strong psychosomatic effect, but can be resisted by the strong-willed or even through the realization that what one is seeing is an illusion.

Frogg

Real Name: Sasha Tyler

Age: 18

History: The youngest of the team, Frogg was an outcast almost from the moment she was born, due to her freakish appearance. Thrown in the sewers as an infant, she was adopted and raised by a local Morlock clan of mutants. Because of her speed and agility, she was often sent above ground to steal, often risking life and limb in the process. Magneta discovered her while she was running from the law and snapped her up as a member of her team, promising her the opportunity to strike back at those who had oppressed him. Of all of Magneta’s recruits, she is the least bloodthirsty and the one most likely to question what they’re doing, but will still not back down from a fight.

Powers: Frogg possesses the general appearance and abilities of a human-sized frog, capable of astounding leaps and leg strength, as well as aquatic adaptations.

Mercury

Real name: Rebecca Sunderland

Age: 21

History: Rebecca, along with her sister Alexia, were the daughters of Charles Sunderland, a wealthy corporate executive and known member of the Friends of Humanity. When both sisters manifested mutant abilities of the same day, the papers had a field day with the scandal. Disowned and cast out, the two were easy recruits for Magneta.

Powers: Mercury possesses the ability to move, react, and think at super-human speeds. Her body has been wholly adapted to withstand the friction and fatigue associated with such speeds.

The Red Witch

Real name: Alexia Sunderland

Age: 21

History: Alexia, along with her sister Rebecca, were the daughters of Charles Sunderland, a wealthy corporate executive and known member of the Friends of Humanity. When both sisters manifested mutant abilities of the same day, the papers had a field day with the scandal. Disowned and cast out, the two were easy recruits for Magneta.

Powers: The Red Witch possesses the ability to alter small pockets of reality, localized to no more than a six foot radius around her body. These changes require her constant concentration to maintain and will fade if she or the object moves beyond this radius. Thus far, her abilities have not been able to work on human beings.

Heavyweight

Real Name: Daisy Dukes

Age: 22

History: Daisy is the daughter of one Fred J. Dukes, otherwise known as the mutant terrorist called the Blob. Though Dukes gave up on his criminal actions following a lengthy imprisonment, his daughter is quite happy to carry on in his footsteps. Boisterous, loud, and possessed of appetites both sexual and food-related, Dana is an unusually cheerful terrorist.

Powers: Daisy possesses powers similar to her father, including super-human strength and invulnerability, along with a certain amount of elasticity to the fatty tissues of her body. If she chooses not to move, there are few forces on the planet capable of causing her to.

Aphrodite

Real name: Tara Swift

Age: 21

History: Tara Swift had the most normal life compared to the others, discovering the teachings of Magneto and mutant supremacy during her freshman year of college in a “Mutant Politics” class and finding herself agreeing with them entirely. A mutant herself, but lacking the direction to put these ideas into practice, a chance encounter led to her joining Magneta’s group.

Powers: Aphrodite possesses a mutantly beautiful singing voice, which can be used to entrance others or which can be focused into sonic force.

"Providence of Mutantdom"

1) While Cable’s island think-tank/prototype utopia, Providence, has been around for several years now, it makes the news when scientists there make the announcement that they’ve discovered a way to induce mutation in anyone. This naturally makes the outside world very nervous, because Cable’s just enough of an unknown and wildcard that it’s not known what he would do with it. And, of course, there’s the speculation that if they can induce it, they can “cure” mutation.

2) Scott makes the decision to insert X-Force onto the island, given that the majority of them (Rose, Anastasia, Tina, Joey, and Melinda) would be complete unknowns to him, while Rose and Annie would be familiar enough with their version of Cable to provide some guidance. Jake Wagner is also promoted to X-Force at this time.

3) X-Force is inserted into the island under a variety of cover identities. After a few days recon, they stealth suit up to break into the lab.

4) This is just in time to stop a group of villains (which I’m in the process of creating and need a name for, since there’s already a new Brotherhood and MLF) from trying to steal the same.

5) Fight, X-Force drives them off, just in time to be caught by Prester John, Cable, and the other security forces of Providence. They’re blamed for the theft.

6) X-Force fights their way out, with the general feeling Cable let them go.

This leaves the notion of the mutagenic/cure to be returned to for a later plot.
