Pregnancy Guidelines @ 02:22 pm

[info]dc_nextgen_mod:

Read through these guidelines, understand the concerns, and if you still want to do it, drop the mods a line and tell us your plans...

Pregnancies

If the pregnancy is part of a plot it will be reviewed just like every plot so the mods can voice concerns, suggest alternate ideas, discuss time issues and the like. If it is not part of a plot, the mods still must be notified of plans and have the option of discussing this issue.

The pregnancy -must- run the full term and the character has to abide by the usual limitations of a pregnant woman unless there is a compelling reason for it (this must be discussed with the mods before it happens). Even the most powerful person can get hurt and it wouldn't make sense for them to be an active crime fighter/superhero while pregnant.

Both character players (If it is a kid of two PCs) must be in agreement on the pregnancy whether or not they intend the characters themselves to be in agreement.

Players need to think about the long-term consequences of child-creation and rearing. The pregnancy and having the kid is the easy part. What comes after is the most difficult.
Kids must have an adult around at all times.
Kids are expensive.
Kids require a large time commitment.
Parents are responsible for the caring and well being of a child, NOT everyone else around them. Yes, teammates and family can help if they want (they are NOT required to) but in the end the child is the parents' responsibility. So if a team is going out on a mission or a bunch of friends is going out the parent can't just leave the kid home alone. Arrangements must be made.

Adoptions:

Adoptions follow the guidelines of pregnancies in terms of needing mod review and character responsibilities toward the kid in addition to some other guidelines:

Adopting a child is a very long legal process in some cases. It's not just "Oh, here's this kid, take them", there's a lot of legal work involved.

Adopting a child is expensive and costs anywhere between 10 to 20 thousand dollars.

While 18 is considered an adult, most adoptions go to people who have been an adult for some time, usually ten years. So an 18 year old, even a 22 year old, will generally not be approved for an adoption.
