Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
adelaide: devious
Who: Adelaide Legaux and Abernathy Ford
Where: Far end of the Quod Field
When: June 2010, two days after this fight.
What: Adelaide is holding an explosive object. Abernathy walks into view. The expected happens.
Content: Three guesses.

Adelaide liked Quodpot training. Obviously a lot more than the rest of her team did, anyway, which is why she often found herself alone in a corner of the field trying to outwit a ball that was enchanted to explode at completely random intervals. She was certain though that despite the 'randomness', she could somehow become attuned to the quod well enough that she could make an educated guess as to when that explosion might be forthcoming.

At any rate, the meditative quality of training was very soothing to her agitated mind. It was probably as close to religious practice as she'd been in a very long time. Obey the ball. Fear the ball. Be one with the ball. She could read the ball, maybe if she treated it as an extension of her body.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spied a figure walking along the edge of the field, pointedly ignoring her. Abernathy fucking Ford. That fucking bitch. As if it wasn’t bad enough that she’d gotten her detention for the rest of the semester, she was trying to steal her boyfriend too? Oh yes, Addy knew. She might be stupidly forgiving when Andre would avoid her for weeks, ignore her or act completely disinterested in her-- but sneaking around behind her back and having coffee with her mortal enemy? Oh hell no, that was too much.

A little twitch of hatred flickered up in her, and she flung the quod as hard as she could over that way. It beaned the junior square in the head, exploding right by her ear. Just as Addy would have willed it to do had it actually been an extension of her body.

"Well?" She bellowed over. "It's not going to throw itself back!"

Abernathy had been walking and minding her own goddamn business and then an explosion rocked her head. A high pitched buzzing took over and she brushed at her ear. She tried not to panic at the little bit of liquid she felt seeping from her eardrum. She gingerly swiped with her finger, mildly horrified at the sight of blood.

"The fuck?" Her voice sounded strange to her given that it was ringing in her head underneath the high buzzing.

She turned to the distant mumbling that was Adelaide bellowing at her. She looked around and found the source of the explosion, a quodpot ball which had reformed immediately after it detonated right next to her head. I'll fucking kill her. I'll just kill her, hide the body in the woods, leave it out for an animal to eat. They'll never know it was me.

She took her wand out, pointed it carefully at her ear and used the one charm she knew for healing. She'd have to visit the nurse later for a more thorough healing, but she could prevent more damage for the time being.

"Just what the fuck is your problem now?" she asked, though the pain and buzzing in her ear was making it difficult to concentrate on much of anything. She picked up the quod and debated throwing it as hard as she could at her arch nemesis.

"Your existence is my problem!" The hell, did the quot hit her so hard she forgot that? Maybe she was getting better leverage behind her throws-- she'd have to test it out on Sandra at the next Putnam/Clemons match.

"Actually, I'm kinda surprised to see you out here alone, and not, you know, being a skank whore."

"Oh. Of course, silly me to think maybe you have more important problems to focus on." Abernathy slid her wand back into her side pants pocket to avoid the urge of just flicking curses at Adelaide.

It didn't occur to her immediately that the problem was the amount of time she was spending with Andre. They'd only hung out a few times, but it was going to become a problem eventually, She didn't think it would start so soon. She figured Andre was being wishy washy enough in his relationship with Adelaide that the girl's anger would be focused elsewhere.

"Ah. Skank whore. That's a new one." She frowned at Adelaide and shook her head, pity setting in. "I'm not wasting my time on you today," she said and turned to walk away.

“Right, ‘cause you have such better things to be doing. Throw the fucking ball.” So that she could arm it again, and continue using the girl for target practice.

"Fuck off," Abernathy replied, turning back just long enough to kick the ball even further from Adelaide's reach. "Come and get it yourself."

She glared at her when the quod was kicked in the opposite direction. “Your aim is as spectacular as your personality,” she spat, chucking her broom down in the grass and stalking over. When she got closer, she regretted not bringing the broom. There were so many places she could shove it.

Abernathy's ear had gone from stinging to buzzing. The pain was growing the longer she left it. She bit the inside of her lip to distract herself from it. She had quite a few things to say to Adelaide, but what good would it do? They'd just get into another fight and she'd end up spending the whole beginning of the next year in detention. And you're just shitting rainbows of sunshine and kittens today. "Whatever," she said keeping a good distance between Adelaide and herself. "I'm bleeding and not in the mood to exchange any sort of conversation with you." She turned again and walked faster toward the school as if she could leave Adelaide behind entirely.

“Share it with Andre then,” she yelled after her retreating form. “Fucking whore!”
