She sucked back a deep breath, managing to grab hold of the railing before she ran straight into the gaping hole where the staircase used to be. Holy fuck. Emmeline's foot scraped the edge before she was able to push herself straight up onto the last solid step. She kept her back to the railing, looking up at the approaching death eater and the staircase. Technically there was some sort of chance that she could make it, but then the other rather high percentage showed that she would probably miss, slip, lose her grip and fall a fall that would probably break a limb.
Or she could deal with a death eater who obviously meant serious business.
A broken leg looked pretty good, right about now.
She summoned a large piece of the rubble and with a wrist flick Alice had shown her, sent it soaring past her and toward the death eater, and then--a thought---she levitated another piece of rubble and kept it hovering in the middle of the gaping void and----jumped.
Jumped onto the piece, then---to the landing, and---smack the side of her head hit the landing very hard, but she'd made it and---dizzy, very, very dizzy now.
