Who: Prewetts!
When: Sunday, April 19th, 1980
What: READ TO FIND OUT.
Where: Portree, Scotland.

Gideon hadn't left the house at all in the past few days, albeit to escort her somewhere or for the Order, so Gleny wasn't sure how to feel now that he had gone out on his own. Anxious that this letter from Dumbledore might be something important-- or dangerous, comforted that Gideon felt it was safe enough for him to leave the house, or just... exhausted? The past two weeks had been beyond anything she wished to ever go through again, and unfortunately in the back of her mind she had a sickening feeling that all of it wasn't over with, not even remotely. But, they would handle one thing at a time: with Arthur back and safe, and her in-laws properly buried, the next thing to focus on for her being the fact that Bess now was in the Order's inner circle. It really did stay in the family, didn't it?

Sighing, Gleny let out her hair as she walked through the hallway, ready for bed and sleep. She had already peaked into Tristan's room a few minutes earlier to see him snoring (the smart boy, not only had he already accomplished mama and papa, but he was already moving onto a completely different world which neither she nor Gideon could understand, but that was beside the point). Just before she could make it to the bedroom, a loud knock on the front door caused her to stop and turn. Who could possibly be awake and wanting to talk to them at this hour? Like second nature, Gleny slowly proceeded down the stairs to the door.

Gideon was cursing himself over and over for falling for that letter. Why had he thought Dumbledore wanted to see him? And with an invitation by owl post? Of course, he had thought it was part of the old man's humor, since he'd been joking with that comment to Aberforth about sending owls regarding Order business, but when he arrived at Hogwarts, Dumbledore had been confused as to why Gideon was there. It took him about five seconds to realize he'd been set up - drawn away from the house, leaving Gleny and Tristan alone.

But alone in a house smothered in wards, right? Gideon and other Order members had done those wards themselves. No outside help and even then, Gideon was constantly tweaking and strengthening them, especially after his parents... As he was halfway through the castle, running as fast as he could, Gideon felt his tie to the home wards break. The warm thrum of happy wards that was constantly there was just suddenly gone, making Gideon feel cold and utterly absent inside.

She couldn't stop herself from letting out a shriek as the front door crashed down to the ground. Clinging to stairwell, Gleny froze with a hand clenched over her mouth, her brain at a complete halt as she heard people storm into her house. People! No, they weren't people, they were--- Death Eaters! Death Eaters, Death Eaters, in her house! Looking for--- with a snap, Gleny scrambled back up the stairs. She needed her wand, where was her wand? And Tristan! For a second she stood frantic in the middle of the hallway, unsure which to go to first. Her wand was in the bedroom but Tristan--- her skin jumped as she heard objects breaking downstairs, only causing her to jolt to the baby's room.

"Tristan!" she whispered as quickly as she could, grabbing him and the blanket around him in one sweeping motion. "Shhh," Gleny breathed as he roused to, eyes blinking wearily as he began to wake up.

They were coming up the stairs, she could hear one of them yelling, which only meant there would be a few seconds for her to race to the other room--- not thinking twice, Gleny swung the door open and sprinted across the hallway, just barely missing a couple of red and green jets of light. Slamming the door shut, she wrenched for her wand, knowing now it was a race to see who could get to the door first.

But--- but--- as she frantically began to put every ward, jinx, spell, and piece of furniture in front of the door, the sinking realization that she had no clue what the next step would be for escaping. She faintly remembered Gideon mentioning a portkey for a time like this but--- another shriek escaped her lips as loud banging and a burning smell began to emit from the door.

No, Gideon thought to himself as he ran headlong out of Hogwarts' front entrance, trying to get to the edge of the wards as fast as humanly possible. He disapparated mid-step as soon as he reached outside the anti-apparation area and arrived in a stumble in the middle of his lawn. So what if muggles saw him, he had to get to his family --

What could she do? What could she do? She was trapped, they were trapped and--- Tristan had already began to wail and Gleny stepped back to take him in her arms. Looking down at her son's face, she shakily attempted to calm him down: nothing was worse than hearing your own child cry like that. Gideon! Tears began to form in her eyes as her thoughts went to what could very much possibly end up happening to them.

Suddenly the banging stopped, but Gleny knew more now than to believe that was a good sign. Not knowing what else to do, she clutched onto her son and raced to the closet, locking the door behind her. Huddled against the back wall, she continued to try and quiet him. Eventually, he did, giving Gleny few clear moments of silence to let her mind think clearly. They were going to die here if she didn't do something, but, but--- what?

A green light flashed by his head and Gideon cursed loudly as he ducked and rolled off to the side. He tapped his wand on the top of his head, shuddering as the chilly sensation of the modified disillusionment charm took over. His thoughts scrambling, Gideon volleyed a hex back at the Death Eater, because now he could see the man in the disgusting mask. It was a low level pain hex but even on the fly, Gideon's aim was dead on.

He quickly appeared behind the Death Eater utilizing the special disillusioned-apparation the Order had invented, and taking advantage of the momentary confusion to fire off several nasty curses in quick succession, managing to catch the Death Eater's left arm with a severing charm. Gideon didn't have time to take any glee out of it because out of nowhere came a second Death Eater, catching Gideon with a crucio.

Through his pain he couldn't hear the high pitched laughter of his torturer, but as soon as the man let up, Gideon pushed himself to his knees - he couldn't crumble or give in. He had to get to Gleny and Tristan. They were the only goal in his mind. They had to get to the safe-house portkey he had set up months ago. He needed to know that Gleny had gotten to it, that she and Tristan were alive still.

He grabbed a large rock in his hand as the still-whole Death Eater came over to him, kicking Gideon in the side. Coughing in pain as he fell back to the ground, Gideon waited until the man was in range before rolling over and launching the rock at his head. It hit the Death Eater's nose with a satisfying crunch and Gideon was scrambling to his feet to stand over the man his wand pointed at him.

In a split decision, Gideon shouted, "Incarcerous, Stupefy!" at the man and ropes shot out of the end of his wand. He had those six disgusting syllables on the end of his tongue, ready with the hate and fear to kill the man in front of him, but Gideon had never tried to be one of those men, the disgusting murderers, no matter how much he hated the man in front of him he would never become one of them.

Turning quickly, Gideon tied up the other man and looking around carefully to see if there were any others lying in wait for him. Instead of apparating into the house, Gideon ran up the front steps - only to be thrown back onto the lawn with as the house exploded in front of him. Gideon was up on his feet, albeit stumbling and disoriented, and shouting in anguish as he tried to rush forward - no no no no no no Gleny and Tristan were still inside, they were there and no one had come out.

Suddenly there was a rush of apparation as Order members started to arrive and Gideon tried to run forward, to get into the house to find his family even though there was nothing there but a pile of rubble, but strong arms around his chest and waist held him back. Gideon could barely recognize the voice of Sirius Black telling him to stop fighting. Gideon twisted and landed an elbow into the middle of Sirius' face, but the man would not let go despite all the cursing. After struggling almost to the point of insanity, Gideon's voice was shot from shouting and he collapsed to his knees, sobbing and shouting out weakly for Gleny and Tristan.
