「ᶯicole → ᵝoot」 ([info]nicoles) wrote in [info]valesco,
As bad as it sounded, Nicole honestly hadn't noticed for the longest time that Martin had managed to disappear from her side. It had been easy, in the middle of all of the photographers and journalists and quidditch big-wigs that had been Spell-o-Taped to her side since the second she'd walked through the doors. Only when she'd finally been able to slip away did she make note of the fact that he was decidedly not there to ask a snarky question about when they could leave. It didn't bother her, per se, given that despite all the attention she was getting, it wasn't hard to remember that he was famous and had people wanting to speak to him as well, but to see his bulking frame approaching her seat did make her feel a little better about the current unfortunate situation.

More so because he had food though, if she was honest.

The grin on her face told it all as she took the plate gratefully, remembering to spare him a quick peck on the cheek before beginning to become immersed in whatever was on the plate. Just a few months ago she had been so horribly concerned with what she was eating, not wanting to put on a kilo more than she absolutely had to so as to not have to be delayed getting back into her job by having to lose the extra weight, but now was a different story. Nick just did not care, something which that could be said about a lot of things that, in a better physical state, she would have been horrified by her own indifference.

But that was neither here nor there. What was here was high-dollar catering; one of the very few good things about such events.

"Matthew's telling me the canapes are looking best," she commented to her wayward fiancée as he was seated next to her, biting one in half. It was very difficult to not just devour it then and there; damn to hell whoever had invented social rules and whoever said they had to apply to very pregnant women.

With as much grace as she could muster, she finished off the rest of the hors d'oeuvre and turned her head towards Martin as her fingers played with which piece of unnecessarily decorative food to go after next. "I really hope you didn't leave me to the wolves out there just so you could go find food."
