Estella had always been, at least during the time Caden had known her, a bit jumpy, to say the very least. With that being said, it wasn’t at all surprising, the way she jerked in her chair when he inadvertently snuck up behind her. He snorted when she made her joke about him being such a willing participant when it came to answering questions for reporters. “Hm. Yes, the press and I are becoming the best of friends.” He answered with sarcasm dripping from his voice, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek before he too looked out into the crowd.
His attention was brought back to her when he felt her hand squeeze his, his eyes turned down as he waited for her to speak, wondering what was on her mind. This time her words caused him to smirk, turning his hand around to take hold of hers, rounding her chair in order to crouch down in front of her.
“You know that’s always my top priority whenever I go…well, anywhere.”
He canted his head at her, a brow lifting to show curiosity.
“You, on the other hand…you’re usually the one trying to convince me to stay just a little while longer.”
His eyes searched hers – he was asking, without actually asking, what made her decide to ask him such a question.
