eliza g. diggle ([info]elizaddled) wrote in [info]valesco,
Eliza had grown tired of spending most of her nights alone. Of course, she had Eric, and she had the new baby growing inside her, and her husband did come home...but usually after the baby was asleep and Eliza dozing off with him. It wasn't strange for Dedalus to wake her up from her position in the nursery's rocking chair, and Eliza knew they were both growing weary of it. Her schedule at the hospital had been made easier the further along she was with her pregnancy, but Dedalus' just seemed to get more loaded as the day passed.

So today, she'd offered to cover a shift in the maternity ward to get off earlier today. With a few extra hours of sleep, Eliza was feeling invigorated and energized enough to visit Dedalus during yet another one of his late night work hours. She held her rather large tote bag tightly to her side as she said hello to her fellow colleagues at Mungo's on her route to Dedalus' lab. Eliza enjoyed having her friends ask about the baby, if they had names, or all the million questions one could ask about an impending childbirth, but the truth of the matter was that the new baby's nursery was only half painted. Their schedules hadn't been matching up, and with Elliot and his new baby on the way, Eliza didn't have much help.

Not that she blamed anyone, everyone was off doing something important, it just seemed...it made her sad, and this past year had been about making life happy.

Eliza quietly thanked the tired looking intern, and then turned to smile at her husband. "Hello," she said, feeling proud of herself, going up on her toes for a quick second because pushing out her belly for too long took a lot of energy.
