Students at North Salem High School take seven courses each year; four of the core curriculum, one foreign language, and two electives. Freshmen and sophomores must take either a health class or a physical education class as one of their electives. Afternoon programs are optional, but highly recommended, as is the early bird period. Early bird, if completed, counts as additional credit earned on a student's transcript. Options for early bird are listed below and may be taken in conjunction with a matching class (ex: a character may take dance for phys-ed and then be on the dance team for their afternoon elective or a character may take intro to art and then art again in the afternoon). There are no afternoon programs on Fridays, allowing students to have the afternoon off.
