Flashback: 10 years ago.
Giovanna stood, plaited pigtails blowing in the breeze, and sighed loudly. Father had said that it was Very Important to make Andrew Summers feel welcome.
So she had made sure to invite him for the relay races they were doing in the little playground, which was being reconstructed after all the fighting.

But he had said 'No, thank you.' He was reading a book. Not even a book with fencing in it. Just a regular book.

Well. That was it. You couldn't ask a girl to try to reason with a boy who preferred a regular book to a good relay race. So she'd go make sure her team won that, and check on him later just to make sure he wasn't feeling unwelcome or anything.
