catastrophe keeps us together (Yelena and Alice; 1,16)
Yelena had never really given much thought to how the world might end, but she supposed it was fitting that humanity had brought it upon themselves. There was no enemy they could face who could cause more damage than they could bring about with their own hand. Not that it mattered now, when the world at large was a wasteland. There were so few left, even fewer that Yelena trusted to have her back. This would have been easier with Charlie, but getting back to her own world was a pipe dream with this one so completely torn apart.

She checked her guns. Checked her ammo. Checked the latest batch of injuries. Good, decent, and nothing life threatening. She'd been in worse situations. Heading out, she travelled quickly and quietly as she could until she found a town that hadn't been completely raided. She needed food and water and medicine, the staples that would help her live another day. She was loading up a small sack when she heard a noise and whirled around with two guns levelled at the door in the span of a second.

Alice was almost out of ammo. She was pretty sure several of her ribs were broken, or at least badly cracked, and she was coughing up blood. No matter. She had to carry on, and see if any of her fellow agents were alive. She wasn't really relying on stealth at all at this point, as she was walking rather loudly towards where Yelena was.

She held up her hands when Yelena turned around. "Don't shoot," she said. "It's just me." She coughed, more blood coming up from her lungs. "Sorry. Unfortunate side effect of internal bleeding."
