Test Scene: Because you never know...
Oh New York New york. it was one of those cities so well known for it's glitz and slush. Much like his very own London, it has so many shadows and hide-y holes that getting lost is easy enough. Now if only the damn idiots around him would stop staring at him like he was some damn important person?

"Th' hell do you want, prigs?" is all he can say as he lights a fag and starts walking. He's well dressed but casual, so the attention is a bit odd. Perhaps it's his own demeanor. he almost had an episode with Hyde on the plane, something that a quick bit of tranqs were able to take care of, but now that the tranqs have worn off he's on edge. he needs to relax, find a place in the shadows to take a load off, find some time. maybe get a bird or two...or possibly a pub..er, bar. They call them "bars" here. Get a drink.

The door to the pub opened and a woman in her forties walked in. She slid onto a barstool at one of the corners of the bar. The bartender got a smile and he set of pint of beer in front of her.

Well now, that's a surprisingly good looking older woman there. It's time to get the lay of the land, and if it ended in an actual lay, all the better. Time to turn on the charm a bit...

"Well, hello there, my lady. Not too often to see a woman like you in a pub like this," Daman says, his accent crisp and fairly London-ized. "Names Omar, how do you do?"

She smiled. "I'm fine, thank you. Name's Amber. It's a pleasure." She held out a hand.

"Very nice to meet you, Amber. Looks like you have some fine american beer there. Tell me, have you ever had beer from England? Tends to be a bit better, in my opinion."

There is a subtle shifting of body language, getting the teensiest bit closer.

"Germans and Belgians make the best beers," she said. "American microbrews aren't bad."

Daman gives a calculated smile, before responding.

"Yeah, I can give the Germans and Dutch that much, they have great beers. And I've never had the luck of trying a microbrew. You got one to recommend?"

Another slight shift, as if to look like he's interested.

"The Dutch are another story," she said. "But the Belgians make some of the best beer in the world."

As they talked a few other people entered the pub. One grabbed a seat at the bar on the other side of Omar. Another two sat a small table not far from the bar.

There is a slight chortle as he realized the lady caught his "goof" on Dutch and Belgian.

"Smart lady. And I do agree they make a good brew..."

But those other folks? They Do Not make Daman happy. Their placement is too damn convenient.

"What can I say? I know my beers," she said with a smile. "So, Omar, do you live here, or just visiting?"

On the outside, he is smooth, not missing a beat with the lady as he smiles at that.

"Just visiting, love. I'm just here for a few days on holiday, then off to do some business in Vancouver."

Internally, he's keeping tabs on the new folks, watching their body positions and making sure they don't do anything Unlikable. Hyde wouldn't like that.

"So what do you think of the city so far?" she asked as she took a sip of her beer.

Tranq darts came from all directions, from all of the men and even from the bartender.

Reacting to the random bit of movement from the directions he was watching? he did his best to dodge the hell out of the way. He did a decent job of it too.

But the bloody bartender as well? He is still struck by at least two, and even then he can start to feel...something. And then there was Hyde. Daman would not be able to do much if he took offense.

"What...what the bloody hell...?"

Amber drew a small pistol and shot him with another tranq. The bartender also shot another tranq at Omar.

The tranqs hit home, but as Daman slumps, his hair seems to get oddly colored. almost...green. then, what seems to be almost a combination of laugh and snarl comes from the slumped form. the voice, however, is slurred, as if it is feeling the effects as well.

"Tsk tsk tsk, mi'lady. If you wanted to talk to me, you didn't have to fill him full of happy juice."

Amber had prepared for the tranquilizers not working. The bartender and she pulled out tazers and unleashed them on Omar.

There is a cry out in pain, but it is colored by rage as the tazers hit him. The barbs hit the skin and, even when they had been caught in the strange in between between flesh and the barky skin of Hyde, shocks hard. But even then Hyde manages to start pulling himself up.

"Oh, poor little poppet. You have no idea what you're doing," came the angry hiss. Hyde's obviously in pain, but he's fighting it well enough to look Amber right in the eye.

Amber wasn't sure why the five tranqs didn't knock him out in human form. Or why the two tasers each with about 1 amp and 50,000 volts. By rights he should have been on the ground from one or the other. She had even taken into consideration his hyde form.

Time to try something else. She nodded and the two men behind him pulled out two new weapons and fired. Ropes made of carbon fiber nanotubes, stronger than steel, wrapped around him.

There is more of the smile, but it's obvious lights have gone out. All those things took their toll, and even Hyde, with his increased strength and plant-like physique, had to drop. The form of Hyde (or Daman, as the green hair retreats and the skin goes back to looking normal) slumps hard, as if it had took all he could to just stand and talk.

Which it did.

uggghhhh...what in the hell...?

Daman had no idea what had just happened. he knew that...he was in a pub in New York and talking to a woman and then...

"I was hit with tranqs. Oh, that damn bitch!"

Daman then looked about. Oh wonderful, a cell. Looks about as nice as the one he was in when he was caught in Edinburgh, but hell if he knew where he was.

"'Lo? Any of you dumb fucks wanna explain why I'm stuck in a bin?"

"Oh, a sense of humor? Good to know I was going after one of you ladies with one. Now, I'm guessing you wanna play Momma Christmas and go through my list of naughty things?"

Daman brings his hands up in mock prayer.

"Or is this a Confessional type thing? Because I'm certain I know all of my sins and I like hearing myself over anyone who tranqs me."

[info]dc_checkmate

"Neither," she said. "I have no desire or reason to go over your laundry list of bad things or hear a confession. I'm not a priest, pastor, vicar or any religious official."

She folded her arms over her chest.

"I'm here to offer you a deal."

"Oh, a deal you say? Well, that bloody well fixes everything, don't it?"

The acid in his words is obvious. He's getting worked up.

"Well, unless you have some kinda magic pill for mad double personalities or double crossing father figures then you can take your deal and shove it somewhere uncomfortable."

Daman hates being locked up, and with The Old Man no longer out there ready to help spring him he's stuck.

Daman tries not to react. Nope. Not gonna acknowledge the deep seated fear of lost freedom to move about and do what he wishes...

"You ain't even gonna try a pitch? Just walk out? You're a shit saleswoman, then. You gotta at least try before you walk out. It's like chess, doll. I'm playing the part of the irate customer. You gotta play the game if you wanna make a pitch."

Yeah...that didn't work out as well. But he could try to sweeten his own pot here.

"Just playin' the part, lady. How would you normally feel if you woke up in a bin after getting shot up with tranqs and whatever the hell you brought out for the Other Guy?"

Rhetorical, yeah, but she didn't just leave just gotta keep her here...

"So howsabout you come back here and tell me again what this eal is. I'll hoot and hollar and act the disinterested git, then we get down to the brass tacks. Like, oh, howsabout where in the deal that gets me out of this place?"

"That's it? No "tryin' to save me from myself" or whatever rubbish you Yanks normally sell? I dunno if I should be relieved or disappointed."

Daman lets out a dramatic sigh.

"And you do know I'm not the only lad in the room, right? What makes ya think he'll be going along even if I do?"

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"We're not concerned about saving you," she said. "We just want to use you and him." She smiled. "I'm not a Yank." When she said that there was the slightest trace of a British accent in her voice. Amber had learned to speak without an accent a long time ago.

"Clever girl," Daman said with a grin. Wasn't expecting that at all. "Still, ain't too sure Hyde here will wanna just come along and play nice. Not that I don't mind the company, but it does get a bit tiresome to be walking about and suddenly I don't remember anything and there's a mutilated corpse."

"Well, either I can go along and hope My Other Half doesn't play Jack the Ripper with your spleens, or be stuck here and rot. That's a hell of a choice," Daman said. There was still the smile, but there was a lot of frustration to it. He didn't like ultimatums, but here there really wasn't much chance here.

"Yeah, I guess I can be involved with your little shindig. Do we get health insurance, because I got one hell of a mental issue needs fixing."
