People: Prophets
There are typically only 5 prophets in Aylasia at any given time. This is mostly in how prophets are named and ascend to the position. As a prophet dies (s)he names the prophet to replace h(er)im on h(er)is deathbed. They are not so much chosen as simply named by the prophet whose last vision is that of the new one.

Prophets are born to it, though they do not have immediate use of their skills. They must learn to master Fortuna Magic like all other mages in Aylasia must learn to work with their magic. A prophet's most notable feature is that they do not have access to other kinds of magic (with a few exceptions, Gillian Ward was a faerie and had access to fae magic, etc.). They are most commonly Prophets and prophets alone, though it might take them years to realize this; even then it isn't a true indication that they will be named. Some prophets have lived and died without ever being named to the position (which is because of a possible storyline should anyone like to make a sixth, unnamed prophet). Some prophets have been named at as young as 17 years old, some as old as 351.

They are mostly infallible, their accuracy is uncanny. Some prophets have been corrupted, but never all five at once, which would prevent an unworthy appointment to the position of king. They have a mastery over all areas of Fortuna Magic and may use them at will. Of course, some visions still come unbidden to the prophets, they cannot always foresee the need to foresee. Also, they do not have the same visions, unless they are united on a purpose. They may see the same things if they focus and come together, but usually they have their own separate visions and purposes.

Most prophets come into their full strength and power when they are named to the position.

Past prophets include: Agatha Ambrose, Antal, Carson, Edvin Sándor, Gibous, and Gillian Ward.

There are three prophets currently in game: Aldrich Waldemar was named when Agatha Ambrose died, and NPCs Maris Solange and Monroe Puissant. There is a potential in the wings in Atlanta Halton, though she may never be named. There is one open spot in the game that hasn't been filled.

There is an empty spot since the disappearance of Edvin Sandor, he was not able to name his successor and the prophets have not been able to see who it is.
