The Rules
These rules apply to both games.
Really Short Rules1. You must be 18 to play. Adult storylines welcome (placed under an lj-cut).
2. No character limit, however you must play your first character in at least two posts before making another.
3. Grammar check. Spell check.
4. Character journals are 1st person. Community posts are 3rd person (and usually past tense).
5. If real life happens you can go on hiatus. No. Really. Life comes first.
6. Be good to your fellow players and they will be good to you.
7. You can skim the mod journal. There's a lot of information in it; please don't let that intimidate you. You don't need to know every little detail about the world in order to play.
8. I reserve the right to change the rules at any time; Players will be notified if this happens.
The Longer Winded RulesLimitationsYou must be 18 to play. If you claim to be 18 and you aren't I take no responsibility for your decision to continue and what you may encounter in this game. Slash is welcome as well as sexual/violent posts, though these MUST be placed under an lj-cut with some sort of warning affixed. Please use good sense when posting racy subject matter.
CharactersPlayers may choose to play mages or magical beings. There is currently no character limit however, only make as many as you will play. Not all characters are going to be vastly powerful (not to be confused with having a variety of skills); if a character is too powerful they will not be accepted into the game. Please make your pbs match your characters.
Played BysAll played bys must be accepted by the moderator. Once a pb has been used it cannot be used again. Unconventional pbs (such as art, animation, myspace celebs, etc.) will be considered on a case by case basis.
Grammar and SpellingIt seems like a silly rule, but honestly. Please spell check and grammar check. We don't expect perfection, but we aim for a higher standard than aim and message boards.
When PostingI won't enforce a particular format when posting logs (done over aim) or threads (done in the community). If it's open to other players be sure to note whom, or simply open if you don't care who jumps in. If a post is particularly long please place it under an lj-cut (just ask the mod if you don't know how).
JournalsJournals are where you place any first person writing. The first post should be your biography and character stats under an lj-cut. All journal entries will be considered private, as if they were real journals and not on the internet, however all entries must be public (so that people can read them if they aren't logged in to their character journals). Feel free to describe your journals in your user info. Not all characters will keep a journal, if they don't your only entry will be your bio. Out of Character things will only be posted in the Out of Character community and no where else.
Using more than one character on a single journal is perfectly acceptable so long as you make an effort to label your posts (so we don't get confused about who's writing what). Many of us use tags to label our posts; again if you don't know how just ask. Also, each additional character will require an application
unless you've spoken to the moderator about your character creation and it is approved without an application (which is possible if you stick around with us long enough). Your character journal should only be used for this game.
Activity RequirementsThere are none. Seriously. Play what you want, when you want. However, please see the section on
commitment below.
The Real Life ClauseIf you get into the game and real life happens we can put your characters on hiatus. If you decide you want to stop playing we can simply leave your characters out on hiatus (we'll find a creative reason) or wipe them off the face of the map. Whichever is more convenient for plot.
The Biggest Rule that has nothing to do with the game as much as the "gaming"
If there is in or out of game drama, please be adults and take care of it. If you genuinely have a problem and you can't come to a resolution on your own I'll try to resolve it.
RESPECT YOUR FELLOW PLAYERS. We all have boundaries. We all have limitations. We make the characters we want to play and we plot what and when we want to plot. PLEASE, do not harass your fellow players to make different characters to suit your needs, or to play plot lines that they are not interested in. PLEASE, do not pester your fellow players, especially for things other than play. PLEASE, have a sense of appropriateness when using AIM to contact fellow players. DO NOT assume anything about characters that are not of your creation. I cannot stress this enough.
CommitmentIf you decide to play you make a commitment to participate. If you can't be bothered to play for more than a week or two, don't waste your time or ours by making characters. If there's a serious lack of activity on your part you'll be missing out on the whole game and then, what is the point?
ModIf any one has any questions I'm the moderator and they can be directed to this journal or
modthings (AT) gmail (DOT) comI reserve the right to add or change rules at any point in the game. Game mechanics may also change depending on player availability and my own fanciful whims. Players will be notified in the event that this happens.
