IC INFO:
Character Name: Vincent Capitini
Character Journal Username: [info]mortal_war
Age and physical description: Late 20s. Vincent is tall and tan in form, looking as though he enjoys being out in the sun. His form is muscular while holding the ideal masculine image - broad shoulders, a strong jawline, etc. His hair is long and a dark brown shade, coming down in waves to just past his jawline which is usually swept back in a careless manner. His eyes are brown, and his face has stubble in the form of a 5 o'clock shadow.

He usually dresses down in a pair of jeans, shoes, and a t-shirt with a simple coat if the weather calls for it. Usually the shades are dark as well.

Former Deity Name and Pantheon: Ares/Greek

Personality: Vincent is typically the strong and stoic type. He gets along with others well enough, but if anyone were to ask him of his past or of that large scar at his leg and such, he goes quiet and doesn't talk of it. He is very protective of those he cares for, willing to take a bullet for them, and he will go out of his way to help someone he deems worthy of his help. Vincent is a man's man (move over, Isaiah Mustafa). He's a sports fanatic, loves working out, and having the occasional drink at a bar and stirring conversation with others.

Yet, there is another side of him. Vincent can be arrogant, brash, and have this bravado to him that he's simply the best at damned near anything he does. When faced with a challenge, he doesn't back down and is usually the first one to throw a swing in a fight, laughing in delight at the results if it turns out into a brawl. It seems that he enjoys a bit of chaos tossed into the every day mix of life. He also has a temper, but over the years has learned to keep control over it - most of the time. And to those he doesn't trust, he can be a bit flighty, and even manipulative. A question is whether that's his true nature or the god within trying to get out and have influence again.

History: Vincent Capitini was born the oldest of three children, with a younger brother and sister, in a broken home. Their mother was always caring and providing, but their father was an abusive drunk. He usually took his ire out on his wife instead of the kids, but it still impacted them. The home situation was often hidden away, as Vincent went through school. He had fiends and was popular enough, but he was never allowed to bring them home. He was always protective of his siblings and if one of them gained the attention of a bully, he was the first one to challenge said bully in a fight to get them to leave his siblings alone. This occasionally caused issues where he was sent to the principal, or dean's office, and was reprimanded for his actions.

As he got older, Vincent found that he had a love of sports and physical education became his favored class. He was often involved in school sports teams, like the wrestling team. His worst subject was science. It just bored him to death. Vincent was liked well enough, had a few girlfriends through the years, and still had those issues with the school brawls. This time it was less out of defense for his siblings and more against a challenge of some sort as teenage hormones often work. Either way, people liked him and knew not to get on his bad side. He enjoyed the reputation. But at home, things were looking bleaker. His father was getting increasingly more violent and that violence was how shifting onto the children. Eventually, Vincent had enough. His father attacked first, and Vincent retaliated in self defense, but it ended with his father's nose being broken. In an angry fit, he then left the family, which was likely the best thing to ever happen to them. But, the children now had the burden of responsibility to pick up after school jobs to help their mother with the financial situation since their father was gone.

After high school, Vincent joined the military and ended up in the Marines. Boot camp was the most taxing and exhausting thing he had ever encountered, and it was a love/hate relationship with how he felt about it. He had brothers in arms now and any time they were to challenge the new recruit or haze him, he never backed down, even if it physically pained him. Eventually, he graduated and even impressed his instructors with how quickly he learned combat and other forms of training, as though it was an innate talent of Vincent to easily pick up on. The only issues he had was the occasional insubordination mark up. But, as time passed, he was recruited for the war in the Middle East. It was the scariest and most thrilling thing he had ever encountered within his life, and the more combat he saw, the more Vincent seemed to throw protocol into the trash and do things his own way. It often got him in trouble on base, but he didn't care. It felt like something had awaken inside of him... And something, in fact did... He loved the fray and chaos of the war, but would keep that quiet, knowing that he would have been discharged if he told anyone he actually enjoyed the combat and the chaos it wrought. Eventually though, his luck had run out. While with his unit, he had to secure an enemy location which was thought to be abandoned, but the group was ambushed. Vincent suffered a severe bullet wound to his leg and the shoulder. It was the first time he ever felt such fear. His unit managed to get him and the other injured to the military hospital as quickly as possible. Despite intense pain and a good amount of blood loss, Vincent survived. He wasn't sure if it was the drugs he was given while there, but each night he laid there restless, stirring, and unable to sleep. Because if he closed his eyes, all he saw was war and death. But, it wasn't anything he ever experienced. This was from eons back, like history replaying itself on an endless loop. The lack of sleep was near maddening eventually, and no matter what the doctors gave him, even the most potent sedatives, it never worked. Those visions of war and death always came. He never told anyone, and everyone imagined it was the shell shock hitting him. It wasn't. The ancient Greek god he housed within him was waking up, showing Vincent past battles he had either fought in or influenced in ages passed. After a while, all that Vincent saw when he slept was the face of the god, as though it was peering down at him, boring a hole through him. And with time he came to realize the truth...

After his service, Vincent was discharged and able to go back home to the States. He settled in the Washington DC area for a quiet life, now knowing there's an ancient god within him, and he works as a professional trainer at a local gym. Its a living.

Strengths:
Ω Combat Skills: Thanks to military training and his innate talent, Vincent is rather good at combat scenarios of different situations, be it hand to hand, with a gun, etc. While this has no every day use, it can be helpful if caught in a bad spot. This military training also helped him keep alert of his surroundings, pick up on fishy activity, and how to be quiet and stealthy.

Ω Protective: Vincent is very protective of those he cares for. There aren't many that fit the bill, but those that do, he would give his life for in a heartbeat.

Ω Jockularity: Admittedly, there's something about Vincent as he has this air of jockularity to him. He loves sitting at home and watching the game with friends, is chummy with those that are similar in nature, and he hides any sort of sensitivity and negative emotions that he may have about a situation with a carefully placed joke here and there.

Weaknesses:
Ω Temper: When pushed too far, or someone is belittling those he cares for, Vincent can get rather nasty and has been known to have quite the temper. He usually has a good reign on it, but there are times where he cannot help but simply explode on others either for their words or actions in certain situations. It tends to leave some bridges burned, unfortunately, that he then has to rebuild once the anger fades.

Ω Health Nut: You know those people who have their protein shakes in the morning, the tofu at lunch, and then go out for a 5 mile jog? Vince is one of them. He's a health nut and would rather use his juicer at home and have some vitamins than ever step foot inside a fast food restaurant. He isn't vegan, he still partakes in meat. But, he's one of those people that believes a super healthy lifestyle will help him live longer than others. Really, he's just not ready to die yet. Although, that doesn't stop him from having the occasional drink at times.

Ω Arrogant: He's cocky and arrogant. Sometimes its tolerated, but other times its just unbearable.

Ω Mortal: Vincent can die. He doesn't like that, especially while knowing he houses Ares, a Greek god within him.

General Deity History: Ares is the Greek god of war, born to Zeus and Hera. Of all the Greek gods in the pantheon, Ares was the most disliked of them all, even by his own father, who claimed that Ares was just like his mother and it disgraced him. Unlike Athena, who believed in the tactics and carefully planned logistics of battle, Ares loved the pain and strife that came from throwing oneself into the fray and heat of battle. He didn't care who won or for what cause, as long as blood was spilled and lives were being harmed. Ares had little to no alliegiances as well. He would often claim to fight for one side, yet then shift in mid battle to whoever was winning. War was sport to him. Yet, were the god to be injured, he often showed his cowardice and would flee from the fight to head back to Olympus and lick his wounds and beg his father Zeus for healing.

It is said that the Amazons were his daughters and he was beloved in Sparta and Thrace, areas where war and fighting were rampant. Ares fought in the great battle against Troy as noted in the Illiad, but Athena and Hera thwarted his efforts and his son was slain. He also had an ongoing loving relationship with Aphrodite, who was possibly the only other god to truly appreciate him. The two had four children: Eros, Anteros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, and Adrestia. Ares had slain a child of Poseidon's (who slain his own child), bringing Poseidon's wrath and bringing the trial of Ares for doing such a deed, but he was acquitted of the charges. Oh, and lets not forget the epic tales of the brotherhood rivalry between Ares and Heracles as they kicked each others asses across Greece for centuries.

Played By: Aidan Turner

Other Pertinent Info As Needed: He knows he's housing Ares. Ares tries to fight against the reigns of control at times, which causes conflict and flightiness at times. But, he's got pretty good control - most of the time.

Role-playing Sample: As sunlight streamed through the window near his bed, Vincent slowly stirred awake. He took a moment to rub the sleep from his eyes and stretch before glancing at the clock beside him. It said he had two more hours before heading into work, but that didn't feel right. He reached out to grab at the wrist watch on his end table and peered at it for confirmation. Nope, that alarm clock was wrong, he's actually late! The man groaned as he lifted a hand to his face. Today was not the day to be late. In an angry fit, he swiped his hand out at the alarm clock, tossing it off of the end table before blinking and coming to his senses. Why did he do that? Maybe if he didn't abuse that alarm clock so much, it would work...

He sat up in bed and then retrieved the clock from being toppled over onto the floor, setting it back in its place before heading into the kitchen for some breakfast. Who cares if he's late, he's not missing any current appointments, and wasn't going to start the day without some breakfast. Some eggs, salad, and orange juice. Afterwards, he moved to get dressed, showing no particular rush to his steps as he moved. And once done, his cellphone started to ring. At first, Vincent suspected it was his boss, but as he checked the caller ID, he saw it was his sister. Rather than answer, because he was likely not awake enough to deal with her yapping, he pocketed the phone, allowing it to go to voicemail, and also grabbed his keys to head out and finally get to work.
