Who says you can't just walk up to the front gate?
Phillip strolled up to the gate, hands in his pockets and confidence in his every step as he rung the intercom on the Avengers front gate twice. This was how you found the figures of nightmares, by finding a way to hang out with the people who ran into them so often. And who else ran into the biggest villains if not for the Avengers? At least the old Avengers, couldn't say he knew anything about the new ones really. But that would be fixed soon. After all, who would turn down a god from joining their roster?

Cue another ring of the intercom button.

	"We certainly have a history of it - and that's definitely enough to get you in the door." They also have plenty of enemies from the Greek pantheon, but few of them use that kind of subtlety. He grins and nods at the intercom before stepping past the now open gates. Background, references, who needed that? Pedigree worked just fine.

He arrives at the front door, and shoots that lopsided grin again. Lucky, he got the team leader. So much easier to deal with the main man himself.

"Buck Rogers huh? You don't have that shield do you? Pity, I kind of wanted to see that thing for real for once." It certainly had popped up in quite a few people's dreams. And nightmares of course, though usually that was a bloodied, beaten up version of the shield.

"It does have a tendency to draw fire," he smirked and followed him in. "Some, my sources aren't exactly the most reliable," he added, with a sort of smile that suggested this was a private joke. "Real thing is always very different from how everyday people see it." Especially in the dream worlds.

He never paid attention to the Avengers when they were in newspapers until recently, but they'd certainly been popping up in dreams and nightmares more since that whole craziness last year.

Buck nods. He doesn't have all of the details, but gods tended to have their own sources of information - and there's definitely something about this guy... he's certainly not going to argue his origins. Probably just contact Sersi and Hercules to check on him.

"I prefer to be a little less front and center than dad, and let the gods and eternals draw fire. So, tell me about yourself - and why you want to be an Avenger?"

Phillip takes his seat, leaning back and lounging as he looks around. "Nice place, does membership come with pay and a room?"

"An oh, yes, you haven't asked for my titles. Icelus to the gods, Phobetor to men. Greek god of..." There was a slight glow to his eyes. "Nightmares!"

"Well I of course deal with dreams and the like too, but nightmares are my specialty. As for why join? Well why not? I'm a little...new to parts of my powerset I'll admit. Need the practice and all. But also...well I'm sure you were there for the chaos last year. It's interesting what that sort of thing does to dreams you know. But it does cause certain, villains I suppose, to pop up in my domain more and more. Now, they're not like monsters and ghouls, they're actual people so...who else runs into the real deal if not for the heroes? And who but the Avengers does it best?" He leaned forward in his seat with a darker grin. "And where else to answer my question: What nightmares do figures of nightmares have? What causes them to scream in their beds?"

Back to an almost sunny smile. "Interesting cast, fun adventure, figuring out these powers more, and getting up close and personal with some stars of some nightmares and seeing what they really are. Win win win all around really."

	Buck takes all this in. All in all, compared to Hercules showing up, this guy is quiet and humble. The story given also makes a fair amount of sense. "Yes, positions with the Avengers include a room here at the mansion, plus a stipend. Its not a lot, but most members find it works pretty well when room and board are already covered." 	He grinned and clapped. "Wonderful. Will be needing that!" He was a god, and gods did not admit they used to live in rather run down flats with two brothers and little spending money. "We'll have to get a better idea of your abilities, and verify you can work comfortably with a team. I'll also be checking in with our primary references where the Olympian gods are concerned. We've only gotten so many gods showing up on our doorsteps. I'll get you a copy of the charter so you have a chance to see the rules. We'll also get you at least a temporary room while we're looking into things."

"Tell me what they say about me won't you? Haven't met any of them you see." Perhaps in another life, he didn't know how this god thing worked really but again, not admitting that.

A charter, cute. Probably no scaring the team too badly. Well he could dream walk through theirs and go start nightmares for other people if he was so inclined. No matter.

"So who do you have here officially? No gods right now I take it, which have shown up on your doorstep though? Other than me, and other than ones looking to crush the place. It's too bad about them trying that, I like this building."

Buck smiles. "They'll have other sources of information regarding gods. Even if they haven't met you personally. Their comments may be confidential, but we'll see what they say. As an Avenger, you'd have specific training time requirements, have to take monitor shifts, and be on call most of the time - but you'll also get time off, available optional training programs, and team activities. Our current roster is somewhat smaller than normal, since we just re-established our West Coast branch."

He offers over limited dossiers on the current membership.

"Well don't hold past lives against me," said as he took the dossiers and flopped back into a comfortable position in his seat. He gave a flippant wave at the list of duties. "Yeah, yeah, got it. Training might be fun though, certainly wouldn't mind some of that. Won't be taking night monitor shifts though, I need my dreams." Well, not his dreams, but the dreams of others.

"Ooh, an atlantean. That should be fun, not the speedo one I assume though that'd be even more entertaining."

"I can promise my clothing will be PG." Constructs and nightmares...less so. But those were more on the horror side than any nudity for most people.

He snapped the files closed and hit them against his knee. "So room and board, stipend, day duties, and the costume question. All covered. We good? You just need to go talk it out with, whoever, and dot the i's and cross the t's and it'll all be good. Then free dinner once we're done pool. Glad to see that's all wrapped."

"Tour after it's all official?" He shot Buck a smile, he thought this was turning out better than expected. He didn't actually think they would turn down a god. Deities were deities and firepower never hurt right? Not like he was some supervillain or maniac. At least he most certainly didn't think so. Nightmare god did not make him a bad guy, it was so odd that people thought so. Ah well.

And he sorta needed a nice place to stay and something to live off of anyway. Company didn't hurt either, this was his first time on his own.

Buck manages to avoid rolling his eyes. Granted, they needed the firepower. And gods who seemed to have the best intentions usually got a fair amount of leeway - but this is still one of the most exclusive jobs going, with a rigorous security screening process and application.

"Jarvis will show you to your room. You can put any things there, then head to the basement. You'll be put in a private room to fill out your application information, which our backers will review. Meanwhile, we'll check our sources. When that's done, we'll both be ready for dinner."

	Oh it's exclusive all right. Though he doesn't quite appreciate just how exclusive it is, nor the screening process. He's got a plan in mind and it'll happen. "Check away, my civilian background is impressively dull." He stood up to let himself be led away. "I'm supposed to tell you not to fall asleep while reading it but...I always prefer people asleep." It keeps conflicts of interest down if the current Avengers have only a limited hand in the screening process. If that gives us an all-clear and recommends you, we'll take a simple majority vote."
