Rider Macnair didn't meet his father until he was five year old. His mother was sick of him by then and made it perfectly clear that he wasn't supposed to come home when she dropped him on Walden Macnair's doorstop and took off. Candace opened the door and seemed to accept Rider's story without missing a beat. Her son, Walden Jr, didn't seem too surprised that he had a half-brother either. Rider's father took one look at him and then marched him out of the house and saw him put into the foster system.
Rider didn't last long in any of the houses he was put in. He was violent and ill-tempered. If a family had pets, they disppeared. Any foster siblings he had began to sport bruises and cuts from him beating them. Rider didn't feel much besides hatred anymore, especially when it came to his father.
Some of the parents he was given to tried to beat sense into him. When he was eight, one of them tried to touch him and Rider ended up killing him. It was an accident, but with Rider's record it meant he was put into a high-security care fascility almost immediately after a counsellor spoke to him. He was still young, so he avoided prison, but the hospital didn't help make Rider any saner.
It was easy to embrace his diagnosis and give up on being like everyone else. If they wanted Rider to be crazy, Rider would be crazy. He'd be violent and calous and wreckless. He'd get into fights and hurt anyone he felt like hurting when he felt like hurting them.
So he did, and for a while that worked. When he was older, he added fucking who he wanted to fuck to the list of things he did. It was fun, and nobody really blamed him for his actions in the hospital, which made it even more fun. At least until he was older, when he was transfered to a hospital for adults, where they were more strict. Rider spends his time alternating between tormenting and charming the other patients, depending on how he feels about them, and making escape attempts. He'd gotten out successfully seven times in the past five years. Each time security gets stricter. He doesn't share a room with anyone else, because of his violent tendencies, and he'd often locked in isolation as punishment for his actions.
