On August 17, 1956, Rosalie Diserafino was born into a wreck of a marriage that really never should have happened. Unfortunately, she didn't have any choice about who to be born to. If she had, she would have picked a set of supportive and nurturing people who would have loved and cared for her and each other. It didn't work out that way.

When Rosalie was just a little over a year old, her parents split up for the first (but not the last) time. She has a vague memory of the tearful screaming match that finally sent her father out the door; thankfully she was too young to understand much of what was going on. Nonetheless, even babies feel the absence of a parent, as Rosalie would continue to do for the rest of her life.

In 1959, it seemed for a moment as though perhaps things had changed. Rosalie's parents reunited, and soon she was to have a baby sister. However, this union turned out no better than the first - indeed, it was even worse. Rosalie's mother went through intense post-partum depression, and soon the woman packed up her oldest daughter and took off. At only 3 years old, Rosalie had experienced more upheaval than most people do in a lifetime.

Her life would continue to be a series of upheavals thereafter. Her mother, accustomed to being taken care of and having money to spend, found men who wold fill those needs for her. Rosalie was simply along for the ride. She was alternately spoiled and ignored, depending on her mother's whim of the moment. As far as Rosalie knew, she had been abandoned entirely by her father. Her mother was the only consistent thing she had, even if she was rather consistently INconsistent. As a result, Rosalie learned to do whatever she could to keep her mother calm and happy and affectionate. That meant first and foremost being good and staying out of trouble, and then anticipating her mother's needs and catering to them as much as she could.

By the time she had shown magical ability and been invited to Hogwarts, Rosalie was well-accustomed to her niche. The way she knew how to make people like her and prevent them from abandoning her was to take care of them. Upon being sorted into Ravenclaw, she quickly became "mum" to the other students in her year. She was a natural choice for Prefect in 5th year, having always made excellent grades and inspired the liking of her classmates and respect of her professors. Rosalie had learned to present the persona of a capable, calm, responsible young woman, in spite of the insecurity that bubbled under the surface.

At the same time, Rosalie was also reintroduced to the younger sister she had never known: Joy. This event was met with a mix of emotions. On one hand, Rosalie was overjoyed to find that her sister wanted to be friends, even though she was such a pretty princess type. She was committed to building a relationship with her sister, because Rosalie had so few family relationships. On the other hand, Rosalie couldn't help but be a little jealous - this was the child her father had chosen to keep, while he had abandoned her.

Soon after, she began to discover that this was not in fact the case, that her mother had been the one to end the marriage. Rosalie confronted her mother with the lies during the Christmas holidays of her third year, and Mum discovered that her sweet, calm daughter could easily match her for temper when sufficiently provoked. In the end, though, they reconciled, and Rosalie had her mum's blessing to seek a relationship with her father. She spent the rest of that year writing letters, and by the end of her fourth year, she decided to go spend the summer with him and Joy. This made a huge shift in her life, suddenly having a family; nonetheless, it wasn't exactly perfection. While Rosalie adored her sister, she was simultaneously frustrated by her. And as much as she found she liked her father and actually had much more in common with him than with her mother, Rosalie found it hard to shake years of resentment and loneliness.

Meanwhile, back at Hogwarts, Rosalie was beginning to find a few close friends, people who she could really talk to. Those people were still many fewer than the ones whom she merely knew as Quidditch Mates or People To Be Looked After, but there were at least some.

Upon graduation from Hogwarts, Rosalie found a line of work that allowed her to continue exploiting her skills at taking care of people: administrative assistant. She started out in the bottom rung, working as the front desk girl in one of the satellite Auror offices in Hogsmeade. As she quickly proved herself to be organized, intelligent, and capable, Rosalie moved right on up the secretarial ranks. By the time her sister graduated, Rosalie was easily able to afford a two-bedroom flat that she could invite Joy to share with her.

Now, Rosalie serves as the indispensable administrator of the Auror Training Program in London. She is the primary organizational force there, taking care of schedules, managing the record-keeping, harassing everyone for paperwork, and making sure the chief of Auror Training doesn't forget his wife's birthday.

When Joy got pregnant, Rosalie's relationship with her sister suffered greatly. She was furious at the turn of events, finding it just one more irresponsible act on Joy's part, one more step toward her becoming their mother. At the time, it seemed unforgivable, and Rosalie ordered her sister out of the flat and out on her own.

Soon thereafter, Rosalie began to regret the decision made in a fit of anger. She began attempting to mend the breach between them. Now, the sisters are back on speaking terms, and Rosalie adores her nephew.

16. Appearance: Rosalie is of average height, slim, and blonde. At the very most basic level, she actually looks a great deal like her sister. However, she doesn't pay nearly the attention to her looks that Joy does. Where Joy is a fashionista of the first order, Rosalie is more concerned with quality and serviceability in her clothes. She doesn't fuss with much makeup, she dresses well but not flashily, and on the weekends you can usually find her in jeans and a t-shirt, her hair thrown up in a ponytail.

17. Personality and Behavior (again, be specific):
Rosalie's personality has in some ways been very much influenced by her background. She has a deep-seated fear of abandonment that manifests itself in multiple ways. First, she does her best to take care of everyone she encounters. Unconsciously, she believes that if she makes herself necessary, she won't get abandoned again. On the reverse side of that coin, Rosalie also strives to make herself as little of a burden to others as possible. She spends a great deal of effort on always being organized, responsible, and independent. That way, she hopes people won't get tired of her. Rosalie also has a tendency to shy away from close relationships, whether romantic or with friends. It takes patience to get to know her.

Once you do get to know her, though, Rosalie can actually be a good time! When she relaxes, her fun-loving tomboy side comes out. She still likes a game of Quidditch when there's time, and she likes to climb the big oak tree in her front yard. Rosalie will talk and chatter for hours with friends, or listen happily to whatever they have to say. She loves to play board games, as well, though she's not much of a chess fan. Her excellent organizational skills lead to a great ability for throwing parties, and Rosalie's also very fond of having a few friends over for dinner. And, of course...being fun is one more way to keep from being forgotten.
