Backstory
Family History
Mother: Carolina du Plessis, 56, a South African born witch from Pretoria who attended school in Cape Town. She is a model who has worked for both Muggle and Magical publications and is a traditional Afrikaner matriarch, who is keen to see her children settled and preferably married ASAP.
Father: Ryan Samuels, 48, deceased (see below). Formerly of Ravenclaw. He was an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries.
Eldest Brother: James Jackson Andrew Samuels. 28. Formerly of Ravenclaw (1995), now in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. Married to Cassandra Michaels, who was in his year in Hogwarts, but in Gryffindor. They eloped following the end of the war in 1998. Larissa and her other brother Jason were sent Howlers by their mother for colluding with the plan. James and Cassandra have a three year old daughter, Amy, and a one year old son named Lucas.
Elder Sister: Catherine Jenna Amy Samuels. 27. Formerly of Ravenclaw (1996), working in the Department of International Magical Relations as an interpreter. She left when the War began again, but having been offered her old job back at the end of the war, she accepted. She recently married her partner of eight years, Jacob.
Elder Brother: Jason David Alexander Samuels, 24. Formerly of Ravenclaw, graduating in 1999. He is married to his wife of two years, with whom he has a one year old daughter named Florence. Being the nearest in age to herself, Larissa idolises her big brother and wants to be just like him in terms of his personal success - he is a researcher in magical history, based in the Department of Mysteries where he specialises in breaking the encryption of coded documents. Personal History

Sexuality: Heterosexual and inexperienced to boot.
Wand: Rosewood and unicorn hair, 9.5 inches.
Appearance: Larissa is of average height, standing at 5'4 in her stockinged feet, and is pretty in a nonthreatening way. Having the job she does, she dresses for practicality more than anything else, usually wearing track pants and a t shirt to games when she is working, and relaxing at home in things like jeans and checked shirts. She's no tomboy though and likes to dress up every now and again, but doesn't do this too often. She usually wears her dark brown hair back in a ponytail when she needs to keep it out of her way, and lets it hang naturally the rest of the time. She inherited her father's English colouring, but is the only one of her siblings to have picked up a South African twang from their mother.
History: Like Jason, the younger of her two brothers, Larissa was born in the important northern town of Preston in Lancashire. Being the final child in the Samuels family - Carolina had agreed to stop having children when a second girl was born - and therefore the baby of the family, she was doted upon by her parents and eventually her siblings.
Like all three siblings and her father before her - her mother being educated at a girls' magical boarding school in Cape Town - she was immediately sorted into Ravenclaw upon putting on the Sorting Hat. She was a quiet and shy student, though the prestige of having a brother three years ahead of her meant that several students spoke to her by virtue of her being Jason Samuels' little sister. It was in her early years at school that she formed a friendship with Hamish Fraser, being the theory brain in complement to his more practical one. They have always been close, and she is very protective of him now he has grown up to be a sexy pro Quidditch player for the Magpies, one of the teams she is associated with.
Things did not go especially well during her third year - 1997-8 - when the Second Wizarding War raged and most students permitted to return to school struggled to stay safe under the new regime. Larissa, still a fairly timid student, stayed as quiet as possible and kept her head down for most of the year, praying that her more outspoken big brother wouldn't get hurt.
Following the end of the battle, which she spent hiding out with other underage students in the Hog's Head, she was devastated to hear of her beloved father's death as he fought alongside Jason to protect others. It took her a long time to get over his loss, which she did by herself, choosing not to seek professional assistance. She is still not completely over the loss, but feels much better about it than she did before.
With her subject choices and grades - she obtained O grades in Potions, Herbology, Charms and Transfiguration and E grades in Astronomy and Divination (Muggle Studies had been her other optional subject, though she dropped it after the OWL because she felt she wouldn't need it) - she was well set for the Healer or Mediwitch programmes, something many of her classmates expected her to go into. However, given that she had inherited the Samuels lack of skill on a broom, she surprised most by going into magical sports physiotherapy, specialising in Quidditch. Clearly, the influence of Hamish's friendship had lasted out of Hogwarts, also.

Magical Strengths and Weaknesses: Larissa enjoys the magical disciplines that require a strong element of theory. Her brain works well with the logic these subjects require, and thus her knowledge of the practical element is underpinned. As a result, she did well in subjects such as Potions and Transfiguration where there was a big share of both. Her weaknesses, if any, lay where an element of physical exertion is required - flying, DADA, and other such things.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes: Hanging out with Hamish, Rugby (Gaan die Bokke!), not so light reading, Magnus the cat and being spoiled by her mum.
Dislikes: Hamish's fangirls, flying, girly magazines, small and yappy dogs and remembering her dad.
