(this is a placeholder image, really)
This is what characters will start out with initially; a somewhat modified handheld transceiver. It doesn't run on batteries, and there's no antenna. It is slightly faulty, and while it won't play any static while you're recording or listening to responses, it will do so occasionally when you're not using it.
Upon arriving, the screen will read "PRESS TO TALK --->", with the arrow pointing towards the appropriate button on the side. Indeed, all you do is press the button and wait until the screen says "READY. PRESS TO END --->" to begin talking. To stop the recording, simply press the button again.
Through the 'menu', you can access an archive of voice recordings that have been posted and can be navigated via the arrow keys.
Characters' personal call code numbers will be engraved into the radio at the top. These numbers will show up when posts are made, but no names; those will have to be added manually. You can also call someone directly if you know their call code number by dialing the number in and pressing 'call'.
The side buttons other than the one to record don't do anything. Press them all at once, however, and the transceiver will fritz out and be unusable until after the next "dream" session. :)
All voice posts are public, unless made to a specific person using their call code. Although with normal transceivers messages may play at the same time, this one allows a 'RESPOND TO POST' function for sake of ease. The screen will show this option when you are listening to a specific post, and responding is done the same way as making a post. Responses are also public at the time they are made depending on when you tune in, but they cannot be replayed. Only posts can be replayed.
Future communication devices will be listed here when they arrive!
