Varvenis is loyal to his father and if he ever heard about him having killed Malcolm he wouldn't believe it. There would be a major crisis if he was ever presented with irrefutable proof, though. Bariah is not stupid enough to express any desire to challenge him, but she'd kind of like him and his brothers to hurry up and die so she can push for Varvenis to be Emperor. I suspect he could hold great sway over the Ayatollah if he should so choose to meddle in Pentacleon affairs.

Louis is not a huge fan. Neither is Elizabeth but for different reasons. Elizabeth feels completely slighted that she wasn't given a kingdom though in her opinion she could have done better than some of her brothers. She also feels like it was his fault her bb daddy died.
