Apple didn't know what to say, he felt like if he did say anything he might just fall apart. He moved so he was standing in front of her and put his hands on her shoulders gently. "When was the last time you got hugged bro?" he asked, already pulling her to his chest. He squeezed her tight, closing his eyes for a moment before speaking.

"You're not stupid Tate," he reassured her. "You're a whole lot smarter than me and to be honest... it was a shit week to get settled into your internship." He reached into his pocket with one hand and riffled around for his joint. "Looks like you could use a little a this," he forced himself to grin but it just didn't feel right.
