Hunter was uncharacteristically nervous for the evening, but that was mostly just because everything had to go down perfectly. She had thought about this for a long time, since Christmas which felt like a very long time ago to her now, because Monkey was getting closer and closer everyday. They were running more and more out of time to prepare, every single time they went to sleep and woke up to start another day. That was one less twenty-four hours to waste, before they had a baby that they needed to spend their time with.
She wasn't worried about it, not in the typical sense, but it still seemed surreal in it's own way, but it was getting closer and closer to being real. It was part of why Hunter had come to her decision. She had mentioned to Mack already about looking for apartments off campus, they both had girlfriends who didn't have anywhere else to go and there was another break coming up soon, but she had left out the other crucial part of her plan that came with the moving out thing. It was never the moving out together that she was worried about, she figured Michi would be glad to get off of campus and have some space that they could make their own and prepare for the baby to come.
Standing over by the punch table, the tall blonde was practically squirming, turning the ring she had bought over and over in her hand, absently clutching it but never letting it go. It was too perfect, she had actually had a bright idea for once. People didn't compliment her often on her intelligence, maybe her cleverness, but this idea had been a mixture of both. She had practically drained one of her dad's credit cards to buy the damn thing, and it still didn't feel like it was good enough for the younger girl. She was probably going to catch hell from her folks, perhaps they'd cut her off again, as they sometimes did once or twice a year when she did something really brazen against them. Usually they got over it in time when she fucked up, when she spent too much, but if it came to this time, maybe it was high time that they heard about Michi, about what was happening with them.
Her parents were the last thing on her mind when she bought it. She had been thinking only of Michi really, feeling sort of goofy, thinking about the family they were going to make. She had chosen emeralds and diamonds, and the emeralds were perfect for them. She had looked it up, the birthstone for May. She could only hope Monkey wouldn't be early and blow the whole sentimentality of it all. She had gotten four emeralds; one for each of them, then Monkey and Yori. It was gonna be perfect. But she still couldn't shake the nervousness deep in her gut. She was pretty sure Michi would want to marry her, to be with her forever.. but what if she didn't?
Her own parents couldn't stand her, and your parents were meant to love you no matter what. It was a root that she couldn't shake. If your parents couldn't love you, who else could? There was only one person she knew could relate, and it was Mack, who she was keeping an eye out for as she continued to fidget beside the refreshments. She hadn't gotten drunk, even though it was a dance, it was too special of a night. She needed her best friend to build her confidence, not alcohol. She couldn't get falling down drunk and then just propose, it wouldn't be the same. Waiting for Mack's head to appear among the crowd, Hunter scowled as she poured herself a glass of punch instead.
It wasn't liquid courage, but it would have to do. Taking a large gulp, she smacked her lips a bit. It was overly sweet, but not bad, kind of like.. well, actually it was really good. She thirstily finished the rest of the cup, and began pouring a second. Managing to get her phone out, she decided that she couldn't wait to see Mack. She needed to see Mack right then, like as soon as possible. Where was she? She was already texting the shorter girl as fast as she could; 'cum find me bb i need 2 c u xoxoxo!!!!'
Her eyes were still scanning the crowd desperately for any sight of her best friend's gorgeous blonde hair.
