Tatum convinced herself, for a few seconds anyway, that maybe she was just tripping out over nothing. Then all at once, there was the snapping and cracking of something rushing and nearly bursting through the trees, and she knew without a doubt that it was on her heels with a howl, drawing a shriek out of her.
It was exactly like last time, but the chances of Leland jumping out to save her twice in a row was unlikely. She just kept running, trying to get to the asphalt and hope for a fighting chance, but it didn't seem likely. She was already winded, and she wasn't even there yet. She had a feeling that the wolf behind her was feeling totally energized tonight.
Gasping for a deep breath while she ran, the redhead held a hand against her side, already feeling a little stitch forming there. She had to get someone's attention, but there wasn't anyone. That was the point, wasn't it? She usually made sure she was alone, but now it was coming back on her. "L-Leland!" she screamed, just hoping and praying that he would just show up, even though she knew it wasn't happening. She hated screaming and yelling and how stupid she sounded, but she was terrified, and she knew things weren't looking good. If she didn't scream, they were probably just going to find whatever was left over when this thing was done with her.
"Le, help! S-Somebody!"
