Tatum kept running for as long as she could, even as she became more and more out of breath, just focusing on moving and not thinking about how close the wolf was getting. He was going to catch her eventually, and she couldn't even be surprised when he hit her back almost as soon as they reached the edge of the asphalt. She came down hard, the wolf right on top of her, knocking the wind out of her and making her scream again as she held something in her chest snapping under the weight of the great beast weighing down on her.

The wolf was at least twice her size, maybe more, and she was basically powerless as he hunkered down over her. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping it would be over, but knowing it was just beginning. The howl made her whimper, struggling to squirm away, do something but getting nowhere. "H-Help!" she tried crying out again, but her voice was hoarse with fear. "Mack, S-Sera, somebody p-please help me!"

Her protests were cut short as the wolf howled and sunk his teeth into her shoulder, sharp pain ripping through her whole torso as she felt blood already soaking through her shirt and her sweater. Her hat was long gone, lost in the grass somewhere, and she was pretty sure she had ripped the knees out of her jeans when she came down hard on the parking lot. It was just her, the wolf, and rows and rows of cars with no one in them. When he paused long enough to paw at her, she thought maybe it was over, the pain was bad and she couldn't really think straight. Before long though, his snout was tearing her apart and she was screaming again, still trying to get away but without half of the enthusiasm.

She was in excruciating pain and everything was fuzzy. Was she dying? Was she going to die? She could feel panic setting it, but it was dulled by the agony, the slow throb in her shoulder and now in her side as she felt claws and teeth making quick work of her. Everything was one painful blur, and she realized with slowly dawning realization that she was going to die, alone, and in the school parking lot. Some freshmen would trip over her body tomorrow and have a shitfit, and Miss Hough would have to council everyone on her own. That was probably for the best anyway.
