Content: Ellie makes a confession

Ellie knew she had to start somewhere. Telling Gemma probably shouldn't have been her first choice, she knew it walking over to Gemma's cabin but there she was, trudging through the woods with her tea set and a loaf of bread she had scraped up from Teo. She knocked three times to let Gemma know she was there and walked right in through the front door and set the loaf of bread on the small table.

Gemma walked into the front room from her bedroom and eyed her sister warily. Ellie certainly did love having family get togethers but there was something different about her. Gemma couldn't quite put her finger on it though. "It's about time you showed up," Gemma said looking at her watch. "You're about ten minutes later than you said you'd be."

Ellie smiled at her sister, already cutting into the bread. "I brought tea," Ellie signed.

"You know I don't have a kettle," Gemma smirked.

"Brought one of those too. I know how you are about froo-froo tea parties," Ellie grinned. "There is no way you are getting out of this one."

Gemma rolled her eyes but smiled and walked over to the small table. "Hand it here then ya whack job," she grinned.

"Do not sass me woman," Ellie grinned. She handed over the kettle. Normally Ellie would have gone off to find Edwin while Gemma put the kettle on over the fire in the fireplace but today she wanted to stay with Gemma as long as possible. She didn't know how her sister would react to her news but if she knew Gemma as well as she thought she did, the other woman would flip out. Ellie wasn't even sure what she was doing.

"Don't you wanna go found Eddie Boy?" Gemma asked curiously.

"Not today," she settled into the rocking chair by the fire, unconsciously letting her hand rest on her belly for a minute before she realized it was there. She moved it quickly and forced herself to sit up straighter. "Have you been enjoying the fall? It has been beautiful."

"Of course you would notice some bullshit like that," Gemma laughed. "It's been alright. Good year for recruiting I think," she sat in the rocker across from Ellie and watched her sister carefully. "What about you? Finding yourself busy with the kids making messes on the grounds? I heard there was another one of those crazy parties just last weekend."

"Kids will be kids. They keep me busy for sure," she shrugged. It wasn't so bad. The kids usually left a few empties around the grounds but she liked the work. Raking the lawns and pruning bushes. It was nice and distracting.

"I don't know how y'all can stand it up there on that campus. You and Samir are crazy," she shook her head. "I prefer my work out here."

"Still not thinking about a change in career?"

"You know I'm not Ellie. What's this whole damn thing about anyways? Something's going on with you?"

"Do you want some bread?" Ellie was already up, walking over to the table where she had sliced the bread. She brought two pieces back, already eating one of them. "Teo is a sucker for big eyes," she grinned.

Gemma took the bread warily. Ellie was definitely avoiding something. "What's up with you? Ya gonna tell me any time soon?"

Ellie took a deep breath and finished her slice of bread. "Gemma, I'm pregnant."

Gemma stared at her blankly. "What?" she finally asked.

"I'm pregnant."

"Well who the hell with Ellie? I didn't even know you had a boyfriend! Was it Teo? I know I always joke about it but I didn't think you would actually sleep with him!"

"It wasn't Teo."

Gemma's eyes darkened. "Well then who? It certainly wasn't that mudblood was it?"

Ellie blinked. "It isn't the first time either. I was pregnant by Aaron when the car exploded Gemma. I lost the baby back then in the accident but I am not going to lose this one."

Gemma's head was reeling. "You're with him again? How long have you been going behind my back and fuckin' with the enemy?" she asked as calmly as she could manage.

"Ace is not the enemy. I love him Gemma. He's a good man and he'll be a good father."

"You never stopped seeing him did you?"

Ellie shook her head slowly. There was no point in lying about it anymore. "You knew," her eyes narrowed. "You knew when you forced us apart that we still loved each other and that we wouldn't stop because of blood status. Blood status! It's fucking archaic Gemma! It's insane! Just like your little plot. You can't tell me after all this time that you didn't know! Gemma... there is no one else in this world for me."

She felt sick to her stomach. "Get out," she snarled.

"So is that it," she was a lot calmer than she had expected to be. More disappointed and sad than angry.

Gemma reeled back and slapped Ellie hard in the face. "Yeah Ellie, that is it god damn it," she said coldly.

"I'm your sister."

"You betrayed me!" Gemma's voice cracked. She hadn't yelled in over ten years and for the first time she lost it. She turned her back on Ellie and took a deep breath. "You betrayed me and you betrayed your own blood. Now that thing," she said pointing at Ellie's belly. "That thing growing inside you is a fuckin' half breed, probably end up being a filthy muggle just like it's daddy's filthy muggle parents," Gemma said cruelly.

"Ace is a good man and you won't talk bad about him anymore," Ellie could feel the tears rolling down her cheeks but she didn't let that dampen her. "Well I don't give a damn what you think about muggles or muggle borns. I never believed it in the first place! You've gone insane with this quest of yours and you're going to be caught or killed. This is the last chance you have for me. Take it now and just... just stop this madness or I'm gone."

"Be gone then ya selfish bitch! See if I care! Just know..." her eyes narrowed. "I'll kill him one day, I will kill your stupid lover boy and then what? You'll have his brat kid and nothin' else. Not even your crackpot sister!"

Ellie wailed back and punched Gemma right in the nose. "You ever even think about touching him and I will kill you."

"I'd like to see you try," Gemma growled.

Ellie turned her back and took off out the door leaving behind her favorite tea pot and the loaf of bread. She didn't care anyways. As far as she was concerned, the whole damn thing was over.
